J. D. TSOHOPIK.
SANITARY DRINKING CUP PACKAGE.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 21, 1913.

JULIUS D. TSCHOPIK, or New ORLEANS,- LOUISIANA, ASSIGNOR TO I). e. BUr'rs SPECIALTY coMrANY, OF NEW oRLEANS, LOUISIANA, A CORPORATION or LOUISIANA.
SANITARY-DRINKING-CUP PACKAGE.
To all whom it-may concern: I
Be it known that I, JULIUS D. TSCHOPIK, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented cercups made of paper or other suitable material, which are designed to be discarded after use.
The invention has for its object to provide a package or holder in which a number of superposed cups in collapsed or flattened form may be conveniently carried by the user and a single cup removed from the packet without disturbing the others.
To these ends the invention consists in certain novel details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts all as will be now described and the particular features of novelty pointed out in the appendedclaims.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein p is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention,.Figure 1 is a perspective [view of a package embodying the present invention, the casing or binder being shown open. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view with the casing closed. Fig. 3 is .a'
detail'view of one of the drinking cups.
. Similar letters of reference in the several figures indicate the same parts.
Referring to the drawings, the casing or holder for the cups is formed of a single piece of suitable material such as paper, and
folded to form a backing or base A, a relatively long flap a, and a short flap a, bea

placed in the'casing with their open ends beneath the short flap a, being held in place by suitable fastening means such as C,
although any other well known fastening means may be employed. These fastening means, it will be noted, pass through the cups below theopen ends thereof, and efl'ectually close the ends, thus keeping the interior of the cups clean and sanitary, until ready for use. 4
Belowf the fastening means eachcup is provided with a line of weakness, such for example, as the line of perforations 0 extending in a straight line across the cup through both walls. -By such means a single cup may be separated from the pack as desired, without disturbing the remaining cups in the pack, the walls of individual cups being of the same height, as will be readily understood From the above description it will be seen that the pack of cups is protected by the easing and the whole is in a convenient form to belcarried on the person of the user. Moreover, a cup can be readily separated. from the pack when needed, and having a straight tearing line, thetop edge or brim of the cup will be left unbroken permitting the cup to be filled up to the top, and reventing the spilling of the contents w on as drinking and the walls of individual cups being of the same height there is nothing to interfere with the tilting of the. cup in drinking. f
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is: 1. A package of sanitary drinking cups,
consisting of a casing and a pack of superposed collapsible cups'held within the cas- 7 ing in folded-or collapsed form, fastening means for securing the cups within the cas'-' ing passing through the cups below the open ends thereof whereb the open ends of the cups will be kept c osed, each cup having loo a severing line extending transversely; of the cup through the wall-thereof, beyond thefastening means toward the bottom of the cup, whereby individual cups maybe separated from the pack leaving the top 105 edge of the cup of uniform height and unbrokei.
