A further object of the invention is the provision of a casing of this character which is extremely simple in construction and inexpensive in manufacture.
.'With these and other objects in view, the
invention consists in the construction, combinationand arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings z-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a faucet showing a casing constructed in accordance with the invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is. an'end elevation. Fig. 3 is a similar view looking toward the opposite end. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1. v
Similar reference characters indicate correspondin parts throughoutthe several views int e drawing.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 5 designates a faucet having a discharge mouth or nozzle 6 and a turning valve stem 7 which is mounted therein in the usual wellvknow-n manner and is adapted to control the fluid supply through the faucet as usual, the body ofy the faucet 5 being formed spaced from its rear end with an abutment shoulder 8 which coperates with the casing presently described. e J
The casing comprises a cylindrical body -including upper and lower sections 9 and 10 respectively which are of complementary shape with respect to each other, and each has formed at its'outer end. a semi-circular shaped end wall or cheek 11, while its opposite inner end'is formed with an inturned flange 12 which encircles one-half of the faucet 5 and is adapted toabut against the shoulder 8 thereon, the up er section 9 being connected to the lower section 10 through the medium of a pintle hinge 13 which permits the opening of the upper section 9 for the applying of the casing on a faucet or the removalof the said casing therefrom. Suitably secured to or integrally formed with the lower section 10 is a depending spout 14 which receives the mouth or discharge nipple 6 ofthe faucet, it being seen that when the casing'is applied the Sections 9 and 10 thereof w1ll embrace the body 5 of the faucet as shown in Fig. 1, and when the sections are closed the turning valve stem 7 will be vlocated within the casing so as to lnot be accessible until the casing has been opened or removed from the faucet. Thus it will be noted that the faucet cannot` be tampered with for the turning on or off of the iuid sup ly delivered thereto.
ounted in the lower section 10 of the casing at one side thereof is a staple forming a keeper 15 which is engaged by a latch or hasp member 16 hinged at 1"(` to one side of the upper section 9, and when the latch or hasp 16 is engaged with the staple 15 an ordinary lock can` be applied to the latter for fastening the sections 9I and 10' closed so as to conceal the faucet and obviate tam-V pering with the same by a malicious person. The hasp member 16 has riveted or otherwise xed therein, on opposite sides of the opening contained 'therein for `receiving the keeper 15, eye members 18, one of` which is slightly larger than the other, and through these eye members is passed a holding pin 19 which is formed at one end with ahead A 20 and at its oppositeend isprovided an enlargement 21 which engages in the larger eye member 18 while the head 20 limits the v movement of the pin in one direction by coutacting with the other or smaller eye member 18, the pin being designed to work against the keeper 15 when the hasp member 16 is engaged therewith so as to prevent the ico lowering of the bottom section 10 with respectto the top section 9, that is to say, in other words, the tw'o sections 9 and 10 when closed will be held in such position so that the edges adjacent to each other will Contact other part and engaged by the hasp, eyes formed on the hesp, a retaining pin passed Loeeoee through the eyes to iie beneath the staple and adapted to engage with a lock when connected to the staple to hold the two parts of the body ii'mly together, said casing being adapted to receive the faucet and its yvalve for inclosing the seme, and a depending nipple formed on one of the pants end surrounding the discharge spout of the faucet.
