To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLIFFORD R. THOMP- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jay, in the county of Franklin and State of Maine, have invented new and useful Improvements in Apple-Corers, of which the following is a specification.
The general object of the invention is to improve the construction of apple corers by providing means which, when the corer is introduced into a subsequent or second apple to be cored, will eject from the corer the core of the preceding or first apple.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which,

The body a is preferably of metal although the same may be of any other material found suitable for the purpose, and is adapted at one end for connection to a handle The body may be of any suitable construction preference, however, being given to a tubular body for the reason that when it is so constructed it may be more readily turned in the apple 6.
The free end of the body is adapted, preferably due to sharpening the same, to readily pass through the central portion of the apple. A convenient means .for so adapting the end of the body is shown in Fig. 2 wherein it will be seen that a plurality of teeth 7 are formed on the said end thereby enabling the same, when turned, to
ass more readily through an apple having a relatively tough or thick skin.
The diameter of the body is, of course, sufiicient to accommodate the ordinary core which is removed from an apple by first placing the toothed end portion over the central-portion of the apple then Ipressing upon and turning the handle 5. his will have the effect of directing the body through the apple so that when the toothed end merges through the opposite end of the applc the core will be in the body (1. Since the device as just stated, may be more readily operated by twisting or turning the same during its passage through the apple, I have found that the cutting-operation is made comparatively easy by forming the bollldy a with longitudinal cutting edges 8. T e body a may be formed in any preferred manner so as to provide the cutting edges 8, a convenient construction being shown in the drawings, wherein it will be seen that these edges may be provided by removing a segment of the body a between the ends thereof. The segment thus removed leaves a recess 9 which conforms to the length of the ordinary core, or substantially so. This recess also forms an outlet for the core 10 of one apple which, when arranged in the body and the latter inserted part way through a second or succeeding apple, the core of the latter apple will force the core in the body upwardly and beyond the lower end 11 of the recess, whereupon it will be removed from the body by the ejector 12. The ejector 12 may be of any suitable con struction and is herein shown as a leaf spring having one end portion suitably connected to the body and arranged so that when the body is passing through the apple the leaf spring will be compressed or tensioned by the core thereof and will be retained in this tensioned or compressed position until the core in the succeeding apple advances the core in the body above the lower end of the recess as previously described.
Although Ihave shown and described one embodiment of my invention it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the specific arrangement and construction of parts since various changes may be made, within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention. What I claim as new is:
1. An apple corer comprising a body adapted to be directed through an apple and receive the core thereof, and having a lateral recess adapted to admit of the passage of the core therethrough, and a 're- ,sillent ejector arranged in the body for the a body adapted to be forced through the central portlon of an apple and receive the core thereof, andthaving a lateral opening adapted to admit of the passage of the core therethrongh; of a spring ejector connected to the body and adapted to be tensioned by 10 the core received by the body for the purpose set forth.
