To all whom it may concern:
Be it. known that l, ANDREW i /moan, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Mznlelia, in the county of Watonwan and State of lllinnesotu. hove invented 2?. new and useful Transmission Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to apparatus for transmitting power and more particularly to mechanism of this character adapted. to be actuated by the drive Wheels of a motor vehicle whereby a vehicle of such. type may be employed 22s a means for driving may chinery of different kinds.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide apparatus of this character which simple in construction and on which the drive Wheels of the motor vehicle can be reiiclily placed, i neans being provided for holding the drive shaft of the mechanism againstrota'tion while the vehicle is being brought into position thereon.
A further object is to provide means whereby the mechanism can be quickly atljustecl to different sized (.lLlVE? wheels. I With .ihe foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combine. tion and arrangementof parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can he made within the scope of What is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

These propelling wheels have been indicated at A in Figs. 1 and It will be apparent of course that the shaft 11 can be shifted toward or away {mm the shaft 5 so as to fit the a aratus 0 wheels of different diameters. fter the wheels have been placed in position on the apparatus, the head 16 is drawn away from the sill 1 and lever 18 promptly swings about its pivot so as to lock the head against return movement. Pins 15 are thus withdrawn from engagement with disk 13 and shaft 11 is free to revolve when the motor on therefrom to the wheels A. A pulley 24: or the like may be secured to the shaft 11 and motion may be transmitted therefrom, as through a belt 25, to any suitable mechanism to be actuated.
When it is desired to remove the vehicle from the apparatus, it is merely necessary to lira lock the shaft 11 against rotation, after which, by rotating the wheels A, they can be caused to move off of the spools l2 and onto the ground.
What is claimed is 1. Apparatus for transmitting power, including a supporting structure, shafts journaled thereon, revoluble wheel engaging and supporting devices upon the shafts, means for shifting one of said shafts toward or away from the other shaft, means for locking said shafts against shifting jmovement,

Apparatus for transmitting power,.ineluding a supporting structure, shafts mounted for rotation thereon, revoluble wheel engaging and supporting devices upon the shafts, a disk revoluble with one of said devices, spring controlled locking fingers normally engaging the disk to hold thesaid device against rotation, and means for locking the fingers out of engagement with the disk.
5. Apparatus for transmitting power, including connected side sills, bearing boxes straddling and slidably mounted on the sills, guide rails secured to the sills and extending across the boxes, means on said boxes and engaging the rails for holding said boxes against removal from the sills, a shaft journaled upon said bearing boxes, another shaft journa'led upon the sills, means for shifting the movable boxes to vary the distance between the shafts, rcvoluble wheel supporting and engaging devices carried by the shafts, and means for locking one of the shafts against rotation.

Apparatus for transmitting power including a supporting structure, parallel shafts journaled thereon, slidable bearing boxes for one of the shafts, means for shifting said boxes to vary'the distance between the two shafts, means for locking the said shiftable shaft in any position to which it may be moved. and revoluble wheel engaging devices upon'the shafts cooperating to support a wheel with its axis in a plane extending vertically between the axes of said devices.
7. Apparatus for transmitting power, including a supporting structure, parallel shafts journalcd thereon, means for shifting one of said sl'iafts to vary the distance between the two shafts, means for locki'ng the said shaft; in any position to which it may be moved, means for locking said shaft against rotation, and revoluble wheel engaging devices upon the shafts and cooperating in support a wheel of a motor vehicle with its axis in a vertical plane extending between the axes of the said devices.
