Abstract

In a method for producing a printed product with an access code in a web-fed rotary printing press, wherein the access code is printed in a code area on a first sheet of the printed product, the access code should be particularly well protected against unlawful removal or inspection by third parties. Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a printed product with an access code in a web-fed rotary printing press, wherein the access code is printed in a code area on a first sheet of the printed product. Furthermore, the invention relates to a web-fed rotary printing press for producing such a printed product and to a printed product with an access code.

The term access code stands here symbolically for an individualized feature, which is usually printed. The access code may be, for example, activation codes, coupon codes, personal identification numbers, raffle codes or lot numbers or the like.

In web-fed printing systems with non-printing form-variable printing form, ie offset, gravure or flexographic printing presses, especially in newspaper web offset printing machines, more and more integrated inkjet print heads are used for printing variable or individualized (= print-form-variable) contents. Such applications are for example in the publications WO2005 / 068197 A1 or DE 10 2006 016 065 A1 described.

Such inkjet impressions can thus be used in personalized issues or in the smallest editions with regional features, etc.

The PCT / EP2008 / 008222 further describes a method by which individual access data, such as profit codes, can be printed inline on at least some printed copies on a statically printed web by means of printing formless printing devices.

These technical possibilities make such applications increasingly economical and thus more attractive, so that such methods are already being used increasingly.

Several daily newspapers are already using the steps described above to increase the attractiveness of printed information carriers through competitions.

Other daily newspapers use individual access data printed on the (paid) newspaper, so that with this access data further information or applications can be called up on the Internet via PC, tablet PC or SmartPhone. Thus, on the one hand, Internet-based information can only be obtained against payment, on the other hand, this serves to strengthen the networking of printed and non-printed information sources.

Such individualized access codes are usually provided from corresponding databases online and can only be activated once. Thus, after a single entry of a single access code this is locked so that it is useless for further input. The objective is that the buyer of a print medium not only acquires the print product but also the access rights for additional, non-free available content on the Internet.

A disadvantage of this method is that to date the individual access data, for example printed with the inkjet method, are easily accessible to third parties. Although the access codes are usually not displayed on the outsides of the printed product, yet these individual access data when the corresponding page of the newspaper, ie with the least expenditure of time visible, so that these codes can be viewed and redeemed without purchasing the printed product, especially a newspaper.

The buyer of this newspaper, who thus legitimately acquires the access code and thus the authorization to retrieve non-free Internet information or, for example, the participation in lotteries with the printed product, in the event that the access code has been previously entered and thus resolved, this can no longer use and therefore can not get to the information to which he is entitled.

In particular, this is problematic in that in the case of a previously unauthorized use of the access code for the rightful buyer of the printed product is not understand why the acquired access code is not usable. Furthermore, the buyer but also the seller of the printed product when buying or selling the printed product does not have the opportunity to check whether the code has already been viewed or redeemed.

The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method for producing a printed product, a web-fed rotary printing press for producing a printed product and a printed product with an access code, in which the access code is particularly well protected against unlawful removal or inspection by third parties. Furthermore, the purchaser of such a printed product with an access code should be able to recognize particularly easily whether attempts were made by third parties to access this access code.

This object is achieved by the code area is covered by means of a screen in such a way that the screen can only be removed irreparably.

The invention is based on the consideration that a simple and fast unlawful removal or invalidation of an access code, ie an activation code, a coupon code, a personal identification numbers, etc can be prevented if this covered by a privacy screen becomes. Thus, the purchaser of the printed product can directly recognize whether it was attempted to use or steal the access code, the screen is mounted in such a way that it can only be removed irreparably. The acquirer thus recognizes directly from the missing or damaged privacy screen whether an attempt was made to see the access code.

It is essential in the invention that for the coverage of the code area with a privacy shield preferred devices and materials are used, which are usually already used in a web-fed rotary printing press. Therefore, in a preferred embodiment, a second sheet of the printed product, usually the also printed neighboring sheet used as a screen. In an alternative preferred embodiment, the code area is covered by a second area of the first sheet. In this case, in an advantageous embodiment, a plow folding device can be used which folds this second area of the first sheet and places it over the code area.

For irreparable or irreversible connection of the privacy screen with the code area, the privacy screen is glued to the code area or the privacy screen is linked to the code area in a preferred embodiment. In an alternative advantageous embodiment of the screen is designed as an adhesive strip. This adhesive strip may be a simple adhesive label or even a two-stage adhesive tape, as this is used, for example, as splice tape in roll changers. In the latter, the underside of the adhesive tape is permanently bonded to the code area and when peeling, only the top layer of the adhesive tape dissolves. In another alternative preferred embodiment, rubbellack can be applied as a screen, which can be removed irreparably only by mechanical processing, for example in the form of scratching. In this primer, preference is given to using UV or dispersion varnishes. The primer and the rubbellack can be applied due to the usually same position of the access code in the printed product with conventional coating units and / or by means of inkjet imprinting devices.

To further avoid rapid inspection, the access code is arranged in an advantageous embodiment in the region of the fold back, around which the pages are turned. Since the privacy can only be removed irreparably, the purchaser can see before buying the printed product in the simplest way, whether it was attempted to steal or invalidate the access code. With the help of this access code 12, the purchaser of the printed product 10 can retrieve additional content, information or offers, for example on a website of the provider or by other means. To avoid unwanted distribution of the access code 12 to multiple users, this access code 12 is usually designed as a one-way code, which means that the offers associated with it can only be used once or once for a certain period. So that the purchaser of the printed product 10 and thus of the access code 12 can be sure that the access code 12 has not been stolen by third parties and has already been used and thus devalued, the code area 14 into which the access code 12 has been printed is detected in the exemplary embodiment Fig. 1 covered by the page 1.
