The bed 10 has a base 12 which is height adjustable. The lower leg portion 38 is pivotally connected to the thigh portion 36 and is moved with pivoting of the femoral part 36 (see the arrow 40), wherein it is raised at its to the thigh part 36 facing (connecting) end and thus tilted. A special feature of the bed according to the FIGS. 1 to 10 is in the division of the bed frame 20 and the mattress support device 30 in the area in the FIGS. 6 and 8th vertical subdivision levels 44 and 45 can be seen. The aforementioned lateral displaceability of the footboard side bed frame part 20b makes it possible to use the bed 10 like a chair to get out of the bed 10 and sit down on the bed 10, respectively.
