Das erfindungsgemäße transportable Kontrollsystem überprüft in einem ersten Schritt den Status der Hauptfunktion 2, beispielsweise die Aktivierung der generellen Freigabe zur Schlüsselentnahme bzw. den entsprechenden Benutzer. Die Überprüfung des Status der Hauptfunktion 2 erfolgt regelmäßig und geht jeweils der Erfassung der Datensätze zu jedem kodierten Schlüssel voran. Der Start der Datensatzerfassung 3 erfolgt vor einer Initialisierung 4 der erfassenden Elektronik, wobei nach der Initialisierung eine eindeutige Identifikation des Schlüssels und seiner entsprechenden Kodierung im Schritt des Schlüsselerfassens 5 erfolgt. Würde der Schlüssel entfernt, so wird entlang des Logikpfades 6 der fehlende Schlüssel an eine Zeitüberwachung 7, welche unter anderem auch Zusatzinformationen, wie Datum und geografische Koordinaten aufnehmen kann, übermittelt. Je nach Vorgabe der Zeitüberwachungsparameter wird von der Zeitüberwachung 7 ein "Status 1" 8 bzw. ein "Status 2" 9 gemeldet, welcher in die entsprechenden Logikpfade 10 bzw. 11 führt. Ist die Schlüsselentnahme anhand der Zeitüberwachungsparameter in einem zulässigen Bereich, so wird entlang des Logikpfades 11 auf einer Anzeige 12 oder einem Datensatzupdate vermerkt, dass der Schlüssel entnommen wurde. Die entsprechend von der Zeitüberwachung 7 ermittelten Datensätze werden im Bereich der Datensatzspeicherung als Update hinterlegt. Ergeben die Parameter der Zeitüberwachung 7 den "Status 1" 8, so wird der Logikpfad 10 zu einem Alarmstatus 13 überführt, welcher als Signalgebung und Datensatzprotokollierung auf der Anzeige 12 ausgegeben werden kann.
