Anschließend wird im Schritt 22 die imprägnierte Schaumstoffbahn auf eine breite Rolle gewickelt und im Schritt 24 wird diese zu schmalen Dichtbandrollen geschnitten. Zur Aufbringung der dünnen geschlossenen Schicht 8 wird jede Dichtbandrolle 2 wieder abgewickelt (Schritt 26) und die dünne geschlossene Schicht 8 aus dem flexiblen oder folienartigen Material mit einer Dicke von 0,002 mm bis 0,5 mm wird unmittelbar und auf die Seitenfläche des Schaumstoffs 4, vorzugsweise in dessen unkomprimiertem Zustand, aufgebracht und daran durchgängig verhaftet (Schritt 28). Die Aufbringung erfolgt entweder über thermischen Auftrag, über Verklebung, bevorzugt aber über Besprühen der Seitenfläche mit einer Polyurethanverbindung. Nach dem Aufbringen und gegebenenfalls dem Aushärten der dünnen Schicht 8 wird im Schritt 30 der mit der geschlossenen Schicht 8 versehene Schaumstoffstreifen wieder zu einer Dichtbandrolle aufgewickelt, in der der Schaumstoff 4 im teilkomprimierten Zustand vorliegt.
