Description

The invention relates to a sighting device for a firearm, comprising a sighting telescope with display device for displaying ballistic correction values and with a mounting base which can be attached to the sighting telescope and contains input means for ballistic-relevant data and a processor for processing the data.

A sighting device of the aforementioned type is known from US 6,862,832 B2 known.

The known sighting device consists of a rifle scope and an electronic height adjustment knob with integrated keyboard. The Höheneinstellknopf can like a so-called. Tower attached to the top of the scope, for example, be retrofitted. The scope is mounted on a rifle that is shot at a certain distance. The shooter enters certain parameters into the keyboard, namely target data (distance, direction, speed), data of ammunition used, environmental conditions (temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, altitude, air pressure), etc. From this data, a computer calculates a value which corresponds to an optimal adjustment of a target in the scope. The shooter now looks through the riflescope while twisting the height adjustment button "clicks" until it brings the displayed mark to cover the target object. Then the electronically recorded number of "clicks" corresponds to the previously calculated value.

The known sighting device is therefore cumbersome to use, because the necessarily small keyboard with small buttons under harsh environmental conditions, especially in a battle situation is difficult to operate. Another disadvantage is that the display device is arranged outside of the riflescope or the field of view. As a result, the shooter has to interrupt the scene observation to read data. In addition, display devices must have a night-lit display, which leads in the case of an external display device that the shooter is illuminated by the display and easily locatable for an opponent. The known sighting finally represents only the position of the height tower, but not the side tower.

From the US 6,516,699 is a hand-durable ballistic calculator known. The shooter is queried by the computer menu-driven for specific data in the above manner, including the used rifle, the target, the ammunition and the environmental conditions. The computer determines therefrom a destination information, the is displayed on a display and allows the shooter to optimally set the rifle target.

The invention has for its object to improve the prior art, in particular to facilitate handling.

In a sighting device of the type mentioned, this object is achieved according to the invention in that a mode selector switch and a rotary encoder with printing function for manual control of the display and the adjustment of the data are provided.

A further embodiments of the invention, which can also be used alone, is characterized in that the telescopic sight has at least one tower for adjusting the height or side of the scope, wherein the tower is provided with an adjustable in rotation locking ring, and that the Rest steps are displayed synchronously in the display device.

It is understood that the features mentioned above and those yet to be explained below can be used not only in the respectively indicated combination but also in other combinations or alone, without departing from the scope of the present invention.

In the figures 1 to 4 10 designates as a whole an embodiment of a sighting device according to the invention.

The sighting device 10 initially contains a scope 11 having an objective 12, an eyepiece 14 and an adjustment group 16. The adjustment group 16 has a height adjustment tower 18 and a side adjustment tower 20. The setting towers 18, 20 are provided in a manner known per se with setting rings which are rotatable for setting a target mark in the scope 11 in predetermined latching steps ("clicks").

The sighting device 10 further includes a mounting base 22 formed as a mounting module. The mounting base 22 has a lower part 23 and two upper parts 24a and 24b. As can be seen from Figures 3 and 4, the lower part 23 and the upper parts 24a and 24b are provided with cup-shaped receiving surfaces which receive the telescopic sight 11 as a ring mount positively and non-positively in the assembled state of the mounting base 22. The lower part 23 is preferably screwed to the upper parts 24a and 24b, as the figures 3 and 4 clearly show.

On the right side of the mounting base 22, as seen from the shooter, there are two setting elements, namely a mode selector switch 26 and, next to it, a digital rotary encoder 28. The mode selector switch, the details of which are shown in Fig. 7, is a rotatable tap changer with which different functions can be selected. The digital rotary encoder, the details of which are shown in FIG. 8, serves for the quasi-continuous setting of a variable. He is provided with a central acknowledgment push button.

At the front of the mounting base, an air pressure sensor 30 is shown as an example of an environmental condition sensing sensor. However, this is to be understood only as an example, because of course other or further sensors on the mounting base 22 (Temperature, humidity, angle of inclination, wind speed, wind direction, geographical altitude, etc.) can be provided.

On the underside of the mounting base 22, a rail 32 is provided with which the sighting unit 10 can be mounted on a corresponding counterpart of a firearm. The rail may e.g. be formed according to the standard MIL STD 1913 Picatinny Rail.

From the mounting base 22, a wire or fiber-bonded or wireless connection 33 leads to one or more external input devices 34, such as an input keyboard, a value memory, or a meter, e.g. a laser rangefinder. The connection 33 can also lead to an external fire control or to a data network (Internet). The input device may also include sensors for sensing physical environmental parameters (wind force, wind direction, temperature, altitude, air pressure, humidity, etc.) that are communicated to the mounting base 22 by wire or wireless.

In the representation of FIG. 2 it can be seen that on the underside of the mounting base 22 there is a mainboard 35, which is detachably fastened there, for example with screws (compare FIG. 4). Furthermore, FIG. 2 shows an interface, for example of the type USB or RS 232, which can lead to the connection 33. Furthermore, a battery compartment 38 can be seen on the front side of the mounting base 22.

It can be seen that the screw connection between the lower part 23 and the upper parts 24a and 24b is released. Thus, on the upper side of the lower part 23, a first connecting means 40a of a further interface 40 can be seen, which connects during assembly of the lower part 23 and upper parts 24a, 24b with a second connecting means 40b, which is attached to the underside of the riflescope 11, as clear from Figure 4 can be seen.

Figur 5 zeigt ein Blockdiagramm 42, das die Wechselwirkung zwischen der Montagebasis 22 mit dem Zielfernrohr 11 einerseits und mit der externen Dateneingabe 34 veranschaulicht.FIG. 5 shows a block diagram 42 which illustrates the interaction between the mounting base 22 with the telescopic sight 11 on the one hand and with the external data input 34.

Diese Daten gelangen über die Schnittstelle 36 zum Prozessor 43.The external data input 34 includes, for example, a laser range finder that communicates with a processor 43 in the submount 22 via a preferably wireless interface RF. Similarly, a command input to the processor 43 is connected, for example, a button with which a new calculation of the data can be started with current values. Finally, the processor 43 is also supplied with specific data, for example the projectile weight, the projectile diameter, the exit velocity v 0 of the projectile, the ballistic coefficient (from a table), the offset correction for v 0 , the parallax height of the telescopic sight 11 over the axis of the soul of the rifle, the unit definition, the setting of the reference data, as well as all data related to the shooting. These data arrive via the interface 36 to the processor 43.

In the mounting base 22 sensors are integrated in the illustrated embodiment, e.g. the air pressure sensor 30, in the illustrated example, but also sensors for the relative humidity and the temperature, as well as for the inclination of the sighting device in several coordinates. These signals are also supplied to the processor 43.

The processor 43 includes a data memory, a program memory with the calculation software, a signal output, a power management, e.g. for a power-saving mode and the battery status, as well as a data bus master.

The mounting base 22 finally contains in the battery compartment 38 nor the necessary batteries, if necessary, a power supply unit.

Via the interface 40, the mounting base 22 is connected to the telescopic sight 11. In the scope 11, a first data bus slave is used to control the display device used as a multi-function display 44, a second data bus slave for driving an adjustment of the target in the height direction and a third data bus slave for driving the target in the lateral direction.

"dH -2", also zwei Rasten in Minusrichtung.
Anzeige 44/10 "S1 36", was "36 Klicks nach rechts" bzw.
The function of the sighting device 10 will now be explained with reference to a function diagram 46 shown in FIG. 6:
  • In the function diagram 46, a first area 50 represents the basic values of the ballistics calculation (C, ballistics, offset), a second area 52 the measured values of the ballistics calculation (distance, drift) and a third area 54 the display of the current position (height, side, angle of shot ).
  • The second area 52 and the third area 54 are located in a computer operating area 56 of the processor 43.
  • With 44/1 to 44/12, the illustrations on the display device 44 for the various operating steps of the sighting device 10 are shown in FIG. For this purpose, the display device 44 is equipped, for example, with a 5-digit alphanumeric seven-segment display.
  • To set the steps, the mode selector switch 26 is shown again separately in FIG. 26 with its operating positions (counterclockwise) OFF-brightness-distance-drift-height-side-shot-angle-offset-ballistic-reset.
  • The digital encoder 28 is shown in Figs. 8A and 8B. It can be seen from this that the rotary encoder 28 can be rotated on the outside, as indicated by an arrow 60, in order to change a value preferably quasi-continuously, ie in very small steps. In the center of the rotary encoder 28 is a button 61, which can be pressed to a Operation to begin or to acknowledge a value set by turning, ie to lock. The rotary encoder can also be designed as a rotary / push unit without a separate knob 61.
  • To adjust the brightness, the mode selector switch 26 is turned to the "Brightness" position. Then, the button 61 is depressed to enable the input of a value. By rotating the rotary encoder 28 in one or the other direction, the brightness of the display of the display device 44 displayed in the telescopic sight 11 can now be set, which is shown in FIG. Pressing the button 61 once again acknowledges the set value. This value is displayed digitally as display 44/1 "88888" on the display device 44.
  • To read the distance, the mode selector switch 26 is turned to the "distance" position. The current distance to the target object, which has been detected by the laser rangefinder, for example, is displayed on the display device 44, for example in the format of a display 44/2 "E 476", which means "distance 476 meters".
  • To adjust the range setting, the mode selector switch 26 remains in the "distance" position. In addition, the button 61 is pressed on the rotary encoder 28, preferably until a mode identifier flashes, for example, the distance display "E 476" in the display device 44. The displayed value can then be changed by turning the rotary encoder 28, wherein preferably a faster turning to larger distance jumps ( 1m-10m-100m) in the display. By pressing button 61 again until the display stops flashing, the set value is acknowledged. The processor 43 now calculates the detent difference at the height adjustment tower 18 and the correction direction to the calculated target position of the height turn ring. These values are displayed as eg "dH -2", ie two notches in the minus direction. The height turn ring on the height adjustment tower 18 is now rotated by two notches in the specified direction until the display "dH 0" appears. This display is synchronized with the "clicks" of the Height turn ring at the height adjustment tower 18. The display on the display unit now automatically switches back to the display of the set distance.
  • To indicate the wind drift, the mode selector switch 26 is turned to the "drift" position. The shooter estimates the wind force and wind direction by observing the environmental conditions, unless corresponding sensors or data transmitted externally from a control center or the like are available. The display device 44 displays the last set values, eg as a display 44/6 "dr 11" for "Wind from 11m / s from the right" or 44/7 "dl 11" for "Wind from 11 m / s from the left" , The shooter can now adapt these values to his current observations or read in the measured values. For this purpose, the button 61 is pressed again, preferably until a mode identifier flashes, the value is adjusted by turning the rotary encoder 28 and then acknowledged by pressing the button 61 again.
  • In the same way, when displaying or setting the height in the "height" position of the mode selector switch 26 is proceeded. The height is displayed and set in meters, eg as display 44/8 "H 102".
  • When the page is set in the "Page" position of the mode selector switch 26, the previously set value is displayed as the number of clicks in the display device, eg as display 44/9 "Sr 36" or display 44/10 "S1 36", which " 36 clicks to the right "or" 36 clicks to the left "means. By adjusting the Seitendrehrings on Seiteneinstellturm 20, the value can be changed in the manner previously described and then acknowledged. Again, the presentation is synchronous.
  • In the "shot angle" position of the mode selector switch 26, the tilt angle of the firearm detected by the tilt sensor is displayed. An indicator 44/11 "A 32 °" means that the gun is tilted 32 ° upwards and a 44/12 "A -32 °" indicator is tilted 32 ° downwards.
  • In the "Offset" position of the mode selector switch 26, the current exit velocity v 0 of the projectile used in each case is displayed in relation to the basic ballistics data in the computer. For example, a display 44/13 "Uo 0" means that the current v 0 corresponds to the basic ballistics data, while "Uo - 14" means that the current v 0 is 14% below the stored values. To adjust the offset, in turn, the button 61 is pressed, preferably until a mode flag flashes, the value is changed by turning the encoder 28 and the value thus set by pressing the button 61 again acknowledged.
  • The "ballistics" position of the mode selector switch 26 is used to select an active ballistic, where a display 44/14 "b2" means, for example, that ballistics 2 is set. By pressing / rotating the rotary encoder 28, this display can be adjusted to "b2" or the like in the manner already described several times. In the "Ballistics" position, a new ballistic can also be imported from an external data source.
  • The position "C" or "Reset" of the mode selector switch 26 is the basic setting of the digital display. For example, if the weapon is shot at 100 m, both towers 18 and 20 will be set to zero for default. The display device 44 then displays any desired value, eg "H 4". Then, the mode selector switch 26 is turned to "C" or "reset" and the button 61 is operated until the indication value starts to blink. After some time, the display shows the value zero and can be reset by pressing the button 61 again. Thus, both towers 18 and 20, for example, after putting on a new weapon set.
  • It is also shown in FIGS. 9A and 9B that the weapon can be tilted with the scope 11 to the left (arrow 64) or to the right (arrow 66). This canting can be represented in the display mirrored in the telescopic sight 11, the figure 10 shows. Below a line image 70, the 5-digit display device 44 can be seen there, as well as a tilt display with two LEDs 72a and 72b for indicating a tilted state to the left or right.
  • Finally, FIG. 11 shows a variant of the functional diagram 46 of FIG. 6, which is designated by 46 'in FIG.
  • The function diagram 46 'is based on a modified mode selector switch 26', which, in contrast to the mode selector switch 26 of Figure 6 contains two submenus, namely in a position "Auto" instead of the positions "distance" and "drift", as well as in a position "environment ", in which the position" shooting angle "and other physical environmental conditions are summarized.
  • When the shooter sets the "auto" position of the mode selector switch 26 ', the system jumps to this submenu and, as the first menu item, the already known display 44/5 with the distance value appears, which can then be corrected in the manner already described.
  • As soon as the shooter acknowledges the set distance value, for example by pressing the button 61, the system jumps to the second menu item, namely the wind direction. The "0" in the display 44/6 'rotates as a prompt clockwise. The display 44/6 'shows the wind direction alphanumerically based on a dial. "3h" means, for example, a wind direction of 90 ° to the right. The shooter now adjusts the current value of the wind direction by turning the rotary encoder 28. The shooter can determine this current value by personal estimation or transmit it from an indication of a measured value.
  • The acknowledgment of the value for the wind direction causes the system to jump to the third menu item of the wind speed. Here, the letters "SP" flash as a prompt and the shooter can turn the wind speed turn by turning the encoder 28, analogous to the setting of the wind direction.
  • After acknowledging the value for the wind speed, the system jumps to the next menu item in which an "AIM" display appears. The shooter now targets the target object and acknowledges again. The system now starts a calculation process for the necessary adjustment of the target mark in height and in lateral direction. The result is displayed in the already explained format of eg "dH-2", which means that the height adjustment ring has to be adjusted backwards by 2 clicks, whereby the display switches back synchronously with each click, ie via "dh -1" to " ie 0 ". If both settings (height, side) are completed, the shooter can fire the weapon.
  • The sub-menu "Environment" is used to interrogate, for example, the inclination of the weapon as a display 44/11, 12, where "A - 31 °" means that the weapon is just tilted by 31 ° down. Acknowledgment will bring you to the next menu item with the display 44/16 for the relative humidity, where "rH 60" means that this is 60%. The next menu item is display 44/17 which indicates the pressure, for example "P 1013" for 1013 hPa. Finally, the fourth menu item is the display 44/18 with the temperature displayed eg as "-23 ° C".
  • Finally, FIG. 12 shows an exemplary embodiment of a height adjustment tower 18, as has already been mentioned in connection with FIGS. 1 to 4.
  • The height adjustment tower 18 forms a mechanical-electronic adjusting device for the defined adjustment of a sighting line of the telescopic sight 11 or, more generally, an optical system consisting of a lens, a reversing system, an eyepiece and at least one focal or image plane along an optical Axis are arranged. The target line is generated with a target mark in at least one focal plane, which performs a relative movement to the optical axis during an adjustment of the height adjustment tower 18.
  • The height adjustment tower 18 has a rotary ring 74. The rotary ring 74 is mechanically connected to a latching system 76 in connection. The latching system 76 includes, for example circumferential toothing, which interacts with a spring tongue or the like. This means that upon rotation of the rotary ring 74, each latching step is tactile and possibly also acoustically perceptible.
  • The rotational movement of the rotary ring 74 is further detected by means of a sensor 78. The sensor 78 may be an angular or displacement sensor and detect the rotational motion optronically, magnetoresistively, or in any other suitable physical way. The evaluable rotary motion can take place within a rotation angle of 360 °, but it can also detect several revolutions.
  • On a circuit board 80 is a processor that processes the signals of the sensor 78. The angular steps of the rotary ring 74 detected by the sensor system 78 are synchronized with the pitch of the detent system 76 via software, so that a signal is assigned to each angular step and thus to each tactile or acoustic perception. These signals synchronized with the mechanics can be processed eg as counting steps in a digital counter and can also be made visible. For this purpose, preferably a digital image processing is used.
  • On the board 80 is also a slave device for a bus system. This achieves a reduction in the number of connection contacts.
  • The rotary ring 74 also cooperates mechanically with a lever element 82, so that the function of a conventional adjusting device of the telescopic sight 11 is maintained even in non-use or non-functioning of the electronic components, for example in case of battery failure.
  • The above description preferably applies equally to the function of the Seiteneinstellturms 20th
