Abstract

The covering (2, 3) includes supporting locations on the side facing the fibrous web. Their density is in the range 1400/cm 2>to 1700/cm 2>or more. They are formed by thread crossing points in the weave, and run in the machine- and transverse directions. The thread configuration is circular or flattened in relation to the plane of the covering, especially elliptical in cross section. Diameter of the circular threads ranges from 0.13 mm down to 0.08 mm or less. The covering is a self-stitched binding (SSB). The covering is a membrane, the supports being formed by raised locations. These are points or hills (27) facing the fibrous web, elsewhere the surface is planar. Raised locations have a height of up to 0.08 mm and their diameter is 0.1-0.4 mm. The thickness is especially less than 0.58 mm. The number of empty spaces within the fabric on the side facing the fibrous web is less than or equal to the corresponding number on the opposite side. The side facing the web is ground down or calendered. In a variant, the raised portions are formed by a casting mold, injection molding, boring, or spark erosion. The fibrous web is produced a rate of up to 1800 m/min or more.
