Abstract

The system is designed so that each employee has an identification card (1). Handheld devices (2,2') each contain readers (7) for the identification cards as well as a clock, a data memory for information like names, project numbers or item costs, also a data processor. These devices store data read by the identification card and link it up with the clock time and data records of events. Terminals (3,3') with bidirectional interfaces (11,11') facilitate data exchange between each terminal (3,3') and handheld devices. A stationary data processing unit (5,6) is linked to the terminals via data lines (4). Handheld devices, terminals and data processing unit are all configured, so that data records of events stored in handheld devices after reading an identification card are uploaded from handheld devices to terminals and stored there meanwhile.
