Abstract

A Multi-Positional Shower Screen has a typical shower screen (10) which is multi-positional for the purpose of casting to the other side of a bath in order to give easy access for cleaning or to use the bath in a conventional manner. The armatures (6) allow the screen (10) to be trajected clear of the bath taps. After the screen (10) has been folded to the not in use position there are no obstructions to the bath.

Description

The invention relates to a Multi-Positional Shower Screen.

Shower screens are well known appliances which comprise of a glass or plastic screen mounted to a wall on the vertical angle and making contact with the bath at the lower horizontal angle and is self sealing with a rubber gasket to the under side of the screen where it makes contact with the bath.

The screen itself is accommodated in a bathroom and is frequently adapted to serve to prevent water from the shower head from cascading on to floor coverings.

Shower screens, however, make it relatively difficult for the user to clean the bath as it is obstructive and necessitates a requirement of the cleaner to physically climb in the bath to reach the areas obstructed by the screen.

According to the present invention there is a shower screen comprising hinged armatures which are connected to a full height pivot hinge which is wall mounted at the centre of end of the bath with the lower armature fixed at a level sufficiently high enough to clear the top of any water taps and the underside of the screen has a spring loaded gasket carriage located in the bottom rail, thereby allowing the screen to be used on either side of the bath and to be moved to the other side of the bath when not in use.

A spcific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to accompanying drawings in which:-

Refering to the drawing the shower screen comprises A shower screen 10 which rides on a pivot hinge 7 and is fix to the armatures 6 which attached to multi pivot stock hinge 5 which incorporates A holder for the shower head 4. The whole thing pivots on nylon bushes 2 which are inserted into the main holding bracket at top and bottom 1. As shown in Fig. 1, in order to fix the shower screen 10 in position ready for use (the shower screen 10 would normally be in the not in use position, not shown).

It is necessary to pull the shower screen 10 outwards towards the outer edge of the bath. The shower screen automtically swing on the centre pivot hinge 5 and simaltaneouly pivots on the pivot hinge 7 and is easily manipulated on to the in use position as shown in Fig.2. and Fig.3. once in position the spring loaded gasket located (not shown) in the bottom rail of the frame 12 comes into action and seals the screen against the rim of the bath (not shown).

To position the shower screen in the out or use position the steps described above are carried out in reverse sequence.

Claims

A multi-positional shower screen comprising a plastic or glass screen mounted on a centre pivot hinge by means of armatures fixed to a centre pivot hinge and screen pivot hinge thereby achieving a multi-position function.
A multi-positional shower screen as claimed in claim 1, wherein armatures on pivot hinges are provided to the main centre pivot hinge and the pivot hinge on the screen co-operable with the fixing, brackets to control the pivoting movement of the screen.
A multi-positional shower screen as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2. Whereas the centre pivot hinge is remote from the shower screen.
A multl-positional shower screen as claimed in claim 2 and claim 3 wherein the armatures offset the shower screen from the main centre pivot hinge.
A multi-positional shower screen as claimed in claim 4, wherein the armatures connect the main centre pivot hinge to the screen pivot hinge thereby creating multi-positional positionings of the shower screen.
A multi-positional shower screen as claimed in preceding claims wherein the shower screen has at least two pivot hinges.
A multi-positional shower screen as claimed in claim 6 wherein the shower screen is provided with at least two armatures.
