Abstract

A reusable cleaning cloth for damp and dry cleaning of surfaces. The cloth is made of a textile base layer of non-woven fibers and, on the surface that provides the cleaning action, a plurality of filament loops which project out of this surface. The filament loops are concentrated in spaced apart surface regions separate from one another, like islands, by non-linear border lines delineating channels that are essentially free of filament loops. In its finished form, the island-like areas with the filament loops project 0.5 to 5 mm out of the base surface. The islands are aligned to be equidirectionally staggered relative to one another, each having a length of 4 to 50 mm with a corresponding width of 2 to 10 mm. The channels which separate the islands are as broad as one to two of these islands in the region between the adjacent long sides of the islands and narrow in the region of the adjacent ends of the islands.

Description

The invention relates to a reusable wipe for wet and dry cleaning of surfaces and has the features listed in the preamble of the first claim.

Such a wiping cloth is described in WO 90/14039: A textile base made of non-woven fibers contains on its surface intended for cleaning a large number of thread loops protruding from this surface, which are obtained by needling the textile base and are combined into alternating surface areas. Between these surface areas there are dividing lines which run over the entire cloth and are designed in the form of depressions. These lines are essentially free of protruding thread loops and are formed by the thread or fiber material of the textile base.

The deep lines do not run straight, but in a curved to kinked shape, which not only ensures that the cloth glides particularly well on the surface to be cleaned, but also that dirt agglomerates are immediately absorbed when wiping: because the transitions between the loop areas and the these continuous lines, which separate from one another, constantly change their direction over their course, not only does pressure act vertically on the wiping direction on the dirt particles, but there is also an oblique wiping force effect, which causes the dirt picked up to move along the channels. This reduces the risk of stuck dirt particles coming out of the looped area.

At least one of the surfaces having loops must extend continuously from one end of the cloth to the other; however, preferably all surfaces provided with thread loops and all recessed channels free of loops run continuously in the longitudinal direction of the cloth.

The thread loop surfaces and the lines between them can consist of the same or different textile material, such as natural, regenerated and synthetic fibers, which can be antistatically, antistatically treated or treated with substances that promote cleaning.

Numerous processes are suitable for the production, preference being given to a procedure analogous to the production of a terry cloth. This is based on a woven base.

The protruding loops according to the teaching in WO 90/14039 can also be cut off so that the ends of the fiber tufts protrude from the raised surfaces. In any case, there are elongated surface areas that extend at least partially over the entire wipe.

The object of the present invention is, starting from a wipe of the type mentioned, the further improvement of the cleaning effect even against differently soiled areas, while maintaining the easy lubricity of the cloth and using the known transport and dirt-holding properties, such as they are achieved by the curved lines free of thread loops. In particular, it is the object of the invention to increase the forces acting vertically and laterally on the dirt particles when wiping per unit area.

The solution to the problem consists in a wipe with the characteristics of the first claim. Advantageous configurations emerge from the characteristics of the subclaims.

The term "thread loops" or "loops" should also be understood in this case to include the alternative of cut loops, that is, protruding tufts of fibers instead of curved, continuous fibers.

For a more detailed description of the wipe, the figure to be viewed as an example is used:
Characteristic of the invention is that the surfaces 2 having the thread loops are each isotropically aligned with each other, whereby they protrude from the textile base 1, when the cloth is new, to an extent of 0.5 to 5 mm. There are the same distance from each other, staggered in their longitudinal direction, ie staggered, individual islands 2.

The islands 2, which are formed from a plurality of filament loops, each have a length of 4 to 50 mm with a corresponding width of 2 to 10 mm, the length value expediently making up at least twice the width value.

The arrangement "on gap" has the effect that a further island-like surface 2 begins on both sides of each narrow end of a surface formed by the thread loops. Each of these ends is separated from the start / end of the adjacent, offset surface 2 on both sides by a loop-free surface 4 which is lower with respect to surface 2.

With this configuration, the low-lying, free-standing, periodically changing lines, which are formed by the textile base 1, extend continuously over the entire wiping surface, each between two adjacent longitudinal sides of the island-like loop surfaces 2, in the area 3, occupy a width equal to or twice that of one of these surfaces 2, but in each case in region 4 of the mutually adjacent ends of the staggered or staggered, island-like protruding surfaces 2 reduce their width by about 1/2 to 1/4 of the original amount, where they merge in their course to form the lower-lying surface 4 mentioned.

The configuration according to the invention of the wiping surface of the cloth achieves an even more complete cleaning effect both in the wet and in the dry state, also with regard to firmly adhering dirt, compared with the prior art mentioned. A cleaning effect can be achieved by wiping once, which can only be achieved with a cloth according to WO 90/14039 by wiping repeatedly or in a circular fashion.

This significant improvement in the cleaning effect was not predictable and apparently results from the fact that the design of the loop-bearing, protruding surfaces 2 as insulated, staggered islands protruding from the wiping surface of the cloth in every condition of use has a larger edge length overall for these islands when cleaning the dirt opposed; the sum of lateral and vertical pressurization over these surface edges is larger.

Due to the course of narrowing and widening, deep-lying strips and channels designed according to the invention and the fact that these channels significantly taper and unite in the area 4 of the staggered ends / beginnings of the islands 2, the dirt particles are not only transported along the channels and held firmly in contact with the fiber loops, but it has also become impossible for this transport to take place over long distances without the particles getting caught with neighboring fiber loops. These particles can only be moved over the wide areas 3 between the long sides of adjacent island-like loop areas. With a wiping direction in the longitudinal axis of the deep-lying channels, however, they meet in the zone at the latest the narrowing of the strip 4, ie in the region of neighboring island tips, inevitably on fiber loops in which they are then held.

Despite the isotropic alignment of the wiping surface, there is therefore a guarantee that even if the preferred wiping direction deviates, it is perpendicular to the island loop edges, i.e. for the essential course of the deep-lying lines, up to the essentially parallel wiping, it is not possible to transport dirt particles longer than a wiping stroke without contact with the fiber loops.

The manufacture of the fiber loops is possible in different ways, it being possible to start from a woven fabric using the terry formation technique already mentioned. Alternatives are, e.g. in GB 2 162 213 A, the needling of a non-woven nonwoven fabric, fibers or filaments being pulled out of the mating surface of the cloth through it onto the wiping surface in a loop shape by barbs; the fiber loops are made of material from the opposite surface. It is also possible to push through the base fleece from the opposite surface with concave curved needle ends.

In a similar, also known method, so-called structural needle machines are used, such as those e.g. manufactured and distributed by Dilo. The amount of the protruding fiber loops can be regulated in a wide range by the choice of needle types and the number of strokes of the needles, and the height of the protruding fiber loops by the penetration depth of the needles. The skilled worker is familiar with the handling of such structural needle machines.

The rough structuring required according to the invention for the wiping cloth into loop-carrying island regions 2 and intervening depressions without protruding loops takes place through the choice of the arrangement of the needles on the needle board according to the desired arrangement of the loop-carrying areas 2 on the finished wipe.

In a preferred embodiment, the textile base 1 consists at least partially of cellulose fibers and the loop-bearing, island-shaped regions 2 consist of synthetic filaments, preferably of polyester. This choice of material provides the dirt particles with a particularly effective resistance when wiping.

Of course, it is also possible to choose 2 cellulose fibers for the outstanding areas if the suction effect is to dominate on the surface intended for wiping. According to the manufacturing technique, care must then be taken to ensure that the majority of the non-wiping surface of the cloth contains the fibers that later form the loops before the loops are formed.

The wipe according to the invention is preferably in the form of a non-woven fabric, that is to say a nonwoven fabric, preferably with regard to the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of the production process, with regard to the good usage properties and robustness of the wipe and with regard to the availability of the base material 1.

In an optically striking variant, the areas 2 protruding like an island are colored differently with respect to the lines in between. The technical effect of cleaning is thereby made visually clear, and the concentration of differently colored fibers on the back and front of the cloth before the production of the loops makes it easy to achieve this effect.

Die Faserstärken können an den Verwendungszweck angepaßt werden; zum Reinigen robusterer Oberflächen sind Titer von 100 dtex die bevorzugte Wahl;The fiber strengths can be adapted to the intended use; titres of 100 dtex are the preferred choice for cleaning more robust surfaces;
