Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and an apparatus for printing of plastic films in roll offset printing.
- plastic lids for food containers e.g. Margarine cup
- plastic lids for food containers e.g. Margarine cup
- a sheet offset printing process is currently used for medium runs.
- the extruded plastic films are cut into sheets, that are stacked.
- the sheets are separated and in a sheet offset printing machine using the dry offset printing process printed with oxidative drying colors.
- the sheet Before stacking the sheet will be marked with e.g. powdered with a flour.
- a suitable particle size ensures ventilation between the bow and thus to easier drying out and prevented at the same time that the applied and dried paint differs from the Plastic layer releases and against the back of the one above Bogen claps.
- Before processing the sheets for production from e.g. The sheets are separated again from food containers and welded together at the edge to form a Train. Because only in web form is the printed material under economic Aspects in a suitable vacuum thermoforming machine insertable, in which the container is formed.
- the problem underlying the invention is therefore a Specify method and an apparatus with which plastic films economical in web offset printing with oxidatively drying inks have it printed.
- the plastic film is preferably pretreated before printing on a corona subjected, so the foils made "friendly” so that it takes on the color better.
- the printing takes place in the so-called waterless offset printing or dry offset printing
- the respective Printing plates are tempered, so they are usually cooled.
- the pressure plates should be at temperatures less than 27 ° C, optimally tempered to 23 ° C, and the ink temperature is preferably 25 to 26 ° C.
- the entire color application is preferably carried out after the color application coating varnish applied. Because especially in multi-color offset printing with e.g. three or four colors usually each color other areas are applied by the varnish to be applied over a uniform surface, leading to leads to more even drying. Is particularly suitable as a varnish Acrylic paint.
- the heat-air drying advantageously comprises depending on the printing conditions a certain proportion of heat and one certain percentage of air drying. It has been shown that depending on the printing conditions, in particular the proportion of Black in the print, the temperatures, the color type or mixture, one different setting of the drying device is advantageous. Of the Share is variable, but always a certain amount of air drying must be present during the oxidative drying paint during to supply sufficient oxygen to the drying process.
- the drying air is preferably cold air in a temperature range from 5 ° C to 25 ° C.
- the printed film which has been subjected to heat-air drying is passed over two cooling rollers before being wound up, the web first being passed over the first cooling roller with the unprinted side and then being passed over another cooling roller with the printed side.
- One explanation for the fact that it is even possible to guide the web with the printed side over a cooling roller is probably that the film is "quenched" by the cooling capacity of the first cooling roller to such an extent that a skin on the ink or paint application forms. Possibly because of this "skin", guiding the film web with the printed side over the further cooling roller does not entail any deterioration in the print quality.
- the chill rolls preferably have a temperature in the range of 5 ° C to 15 ° C.
- the cooling roller over which the film web with the printed side is guided, is driven synchronously with the web speed, so that differential speeds between the roller and web do not occur at any time.
- the film is powdered after the heat-air drying and before winding in a manner known per se, for example with a rice or potato powder or powder of a particle size, which provides a certain ventilation between superimposed film web sections and thus to make it easier Dehydration ensures.
- the winding web tension is preferably increased with increasing winding diameter linearly decreased. However, the tension is also conceivable to decrease progressively or degressively.
- unwinding or winding unit respectively to be provided with a roll changing device known per se, so that roll changes take place without interrupting the printing process can.
- the printing device exchangeable format inserts with different printing plate sizes for printing different section lengths.
- three different printing plate sizes the largest part of all food container lids or lid sizes economical way, ie printing without excessive waste.
- IR drying units are preferably suitable as heat drying units.
- FIG. 1 A schematic side view of a device according to the invention for printing on film webs in roll offset printing is shown in FIG. 1 .
- Plastic film web 10 is guided into a printing unit 4 and then runs through a post-treatment unit 5 before being in a take-up unit 8 is wound on a roll 82.
- the printing unit 4 comprises, for example, four offset printing devices 4a to 4d for four-color offset printing, ie one printing device each for black, magenta, cyan and yellow, and further includes one Gravure printing unit 4e and a coating unit 4f.
- Each offset printing device 4a-4d comprises, as is shown schematically in FIG. 2 , a printing unit for indirect offset printing with a plate cylinder 40, a rubber cylinder 42 and an impression cylinder 44, the film web being carried out between the rubber cylinder 42 and the impression cylinder 44.
- the printing devices are dry offset printing devices, with both the inking units (not shown here) and the plate cylinders being tempered in a manner not shown.
- the inking units are preferably cooled to a temperature of 25 to 26 ° C and the plate cylinders are preferably cooled to a temperature of approximately 23 ° C.
- Each of the printing devices 4a-4d has an exchangeable printing unit, so that different printing units with different plate cylinder diameters or plate sizes can be used.
- the printing devices 4a-4d is not one in the figures shown corona pretreatment unit upstream to the film web to make it "friendly" for the offset ink application.
- a special inking unit 4e is arranged downstream of the printing devices 4a-4d.
- the special inking unit 4e is a gravure printing unit in this embodiment for printing the film material with UV-drying Gold colored.
- a UV drying device in the special inking unit 4e provided to apply the paint directly before the further process steps to dry.
- the coating unit 4e is followed by a coating unit 4f.
- Coating unit 4f is applied over the entire ink application by the printing devices 4a - 4d and the special ink unit 4e is applied, a lacquer layer preferably applied from acrylic lacquer.
- a lacquer layer preferably applied from acrylic lacquer.
- the dries further acrylic varnish used here is lighter than that in the printing devices 4a - 4d applied oxidative drying colors.
- the film web 10 After passing through the coating unit 4f, the film web 10 is in a Aftertreatment unit 5 is introduced, in which the film web is heat-air dried is subjected to and passed over two cooling rollers, as described below. After leaving the post-treatment unit 5, the film web is opened in a winding unit 8 a roll 82 wound.
- Both the unwinding unit 2 and the winding unit 8 are each provided with roll changing devices (not shown) so a film web roll change without interrupting the printing process can take place. Furthermore, there is a in the winding unit 8 Device for regulating or controlling the winding web tension, the is explained in detail below.
- the heat-air drying device 6 provided in the aftertreatment unit 5 comprises, as shown in FIG. 3 , on a drying section T heat drying units 62, which in this embodiment consist of IR drying devices, as well as air drying units 64, which are alternately distributed over the drying section T. .
- the respective proportion of the heat drying devices 62 and the air drying devices 64 in the drying capacity is adjustable. This makes it possible to adjust the type of drying to the printing conditions depending on, for example, the amount of black in the print, the type of ink or varnish used, etc.
- the drying comprises air drying to the oxidatively drying colors supply sufficient oxygen. Under certain pressure conditions, however, the heat component can be dispensed with entirely.
- the temperature of the drying air should be in the range of 5 ° C to 25 ° C, i.e. in the cold air range.
- the heat-air drying device itself known IR air drying units are built on the Market with a length of 17 cm can be offered per unit.
- the device according to the invention are at least 15 such units with a total length of at least about 2 1/2 m used.
- the drying section T is preferably approximately 3.5 m.
- the film web After the film web has passed through the heat-air drying device 6, it is first passed with the unprinted side over a cooling roller 7a and then with the printed side over another cooling roller 7b, as can be seen in FIG .
- the film web 10 In order to guide the film web over the largest possible angular range around the cooling rollers 7a, 7b, the film web 10 is deflected by guide rollers 12.
- the guide rollers 12 are not driven, but have specially designed surfaces so that the print quality is not reduced by the deflection.
- the film web After the film web is guided over the two cooling rollers 7a, 7b, it passes through a device for regulating or controlling the winding web tension, before winding onto roll 82.
- the device for regulation or control the web tension formed by a deflecting pendulum 86, the Pendulum position can be regulated or controlled by a motor 84, specifically depending on other parameters such as the film web thickness, the web speed, etc.
- the guide rollers 12 already described above are used, as can be seen in Fig. 5.
- the winding web tension is regulated or controlled that the web tension during winding with increasing Winding diameter is reduced.
- the relationship between the winding diameter and web tension linear is the relationship between the winding diameter and web tension linear.
- a progressive or degressive control or regulation is also possible.
