Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Vorrichtung anzugeben, mit welcher die Druckkapazität gesteigert wird. Der Printer nach Fig. 1 hat ein Gehäuse 1, in welchem ein Schlitten 2 horizontal verfahrbar ist. Der Schlitten 2 trägt einen Druckkopf 3. Der Druckkopf 3 hat mehrere Inkjet-Düsen 4 und einen Tintenvorrat, z.B. in Form eines mit Tinte getränkten Schaumkörpers 5. Neben dem Gehäuse 1 ist ein Vorratsbehälter 10 mit freier Tinte 11 (Fig. 3) mit einer freien Oberfläche 12 angeordnet. Der Behälter 10 ist in einer Wanne 13 vertikal beweglich geführt und auf Federn 14 abgestützt. Die Federkonstante dieser Federn 14 ist derart bemessen, dass die Oberfläche 12 unabhängig vom Tinten-Vorratsvolumen auf annähernd gleichem Niveau bleibt. Die vereinfacht dargestellte Pumpe 26 besteht aus einer aufgewölbten Gummimembran 27, die in der Mitte ein Loch 28 hat und am Rand auf dem Behälterdeckel 15 befestigt ist. Unterhalb der Membran 27 hat der Deckel 15 eine Oeffnung 29, die innen durch einen abhebbaren, flexiblen Folienlappen 30 verschlossen ist. Dieser bildet ein Rückschlagventil. Mit dieser Pumpe 26 kann manuell durch mehrmaliges Eindrücken der Membran 27 etwas Ueberdruck im Luftraum oberhalb der Tintenoberfläche 12 erzeugt werden. Damit wird die Tinte 11 in die Verbindungsleitung 20 getrieben. Sobald diese gefüllt ist, d.h. wenn etwas Tinte aus den Düsen 4 austritt, wird der Luftraum oberhalb der Oberfläche 12 wieder mit Atmosphärendruck beaufschlagt. Dazu kann z.B. ein Gummipfropfen 35 aus einer Oeffnung 36 des Deckels 15 oberhalb der Oberfläche 12 ausgezogen werden. Der erfindungsgemässe Tintenvorrat ermöglicht einen langen, ununterbrochenen Betrieb des Druckkopfs 3, ohne dass er ausgewechselt werden muss.
