Description

The invention relates to a method for producing self-adhesive patterns with an inkjet printer. Such patterns are used for all forms of presentations and especially in advertising.

So-called stickers in a wide variety of shapes and colors are known. These consist regularly of a self-adhesive, self-colored carrier film, the visible surface of which is provided with differently colored patterns. The samples are applied to the surface accessible when the sticker is used in accordance with the intended use.

At this point the color pigment application is unprotected against mechanical, chemical and optically aggressive stress. Additional coating leads to higher manufacturing costs without significantly improving the protection of the pattern.

The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method for producing self-adhesive patterns which makes it possible to largely protect the patterns against mechanical, chemical and optically aggressive stress and to use a commercially available inkjet printer for this purpose.

According to the invention, this call is solved by the characterizing features of patent claim 1.

To produce self-adhesive patterns using an inkjet printer, a coated carrier film is printed in a known manner on its coated surface with the desired pattern. A transparent self-adhesive film is then applied to the carrier film in such a way that its adhesive layer touches the coated and printed surface of the carrier film. The self-adhesive film is then lifted off, the printed pattern sticking to the adhesive layer of the self-adhesive film.

When used as intended, the sample produced by this method is advantageously located under the transparent self-adhesive film and is therefore protected against mechanical, chemical and optically aggressive impairment.

Another advantage of this method is that commercially available inkjet printers, which are generally not intended for the generation of mirror writing, can be used without additional equipment.

In addition, there is no need for additional means which prevent the self-adhesive film from sticking when it is printed directly on the adhesive layer in the printing unit.

The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment. The figures required for this show:
  • Fig. 1: an illustration of a coated and printed carrier film
  • Fig.2: a representation according to Fig.1 with applied self-adhesive film
  • 3 shows a representation of the state after the self-adhesive film has been removed from the carrier film

For the sake of clarity, the representations in FIGS. 1 to 3 are shown greatly enlarged in relation to the layer thicknesses.

Dabei ist die Beschichtung 1 so absorbierend, daß die Tintentröpfchen zur Erzeugung des Musters 4 in die Beschichtung 1 eindringen.FIG. 1 shows a carrier film 2 with a special coating 1, which is already provided with a pattern 4. The coating 1 is so absorbent that the ink droplets penetrate into the coating 1 to produce the pattern 4.

In addition, an adhesive force F12 acts between the unprinted coating 1 and the carrier film 2 and the adhesive force F24 between the carrier film 2 and the mixture of coating 1 and ink droplets of the pattern 4. The penetration of the ink droplets in the area of the pattern 4 causes the adhesive force F12 at locations of unprinted coating 1 to decrease to a lower adhesive force F24 <F12 at locations with pattern 4 coating.

Durch geeignete Materialauswahl ist sichergestellt, daß die Adhäsionskraft F15 zwischen Beschichtung 1 und Klebeschicht 5 kleiner ist als die Adhäsionskraft F45 zwischen Klebeschicht 5 und dem Gemisch aus Beschichtung 1 und Muster 4.2, the coated and unprinted surface of the carrier film 2 is covered with a transparent self-adhesive film 3 so that the adhesive layer 5 of the self-adhesive film 3 lies on the coating and the pattern 4. The adhesive force F45 acts between the mixture of coating 1 and pattern 4 and the adhesive layer 5 of the adhesive film 3 and the self-adhesive film 3 between the coating 1 of the carrier film 2 and the adhesive layer 5 acts the adhesive force F15. A suitable choice of material ensures that the adhesive force F15 between coating 1 and adhesive layer 5 is less than the adhesive force F45 between adhesive layer 5 and the mixture of coating 1 and sample 4.

In addition, the adhesive force F12 between the carrier film 2 and the unprinted coating 1 is greater than the adhesive force F15 between the coating 1 of the adhesive layer 5.

Weiterhin ist die Adhäsionskraft F45 zwischen der Klebeschicht 5 und dem Bereich der Beschichtung 1 mit dem Muster 4 größer als die Adhäsionskraft F24 zwischen der das Muster 4 beinhaltenden Beschichtung 1 und der Trägerfolie 2.Furthermore, the adhesive force F45 between the adhesive layer 5 and the area of the coating 1 with the pattern 4 is greater than the adhesive force F24 between the coating 1 containing the pattern 4 and the carrier film 2.

This ensures that after peeling off the self-adhesive film 3 from the carrier film 2 according to FIG. 3, the part of the coating 1 which contains the pattern 4 adheres to the adhesive layer 5 of the self-adhesive film 3 and the part of the coating 1 which has remained unprinted is, remain on the carrier film 2.

The adhesive forces F24 and F15 and the adhesive forces F12 and F45 are expediently approximately the same size.
