Abstract

In a shower head for producing pulsating fluid jets with a rotating ball for the periodic sealing of the individual fluid outlet openings on the shower head, it is proposed for the sake of improvement and for the use as a sanitary hand-held or stationary shower fitting that the ball be arranged in an annular channel constructed on a shower floor and the annular channel be bounded by a nozzle plate at the region located upstream, the cross-section of the individual fluid outlet openings being larger than that of the individual nozzles for the fluid inlet. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a shower head for generating pulsating fluid jets, in particular for water massages, with a circumferential ball for periodically sealing the individual fluid outlet openings on the shower head.

A device of this type is known from DE 33 33 327 A1. With this device, the spray jets radially emerge from the shower head, while the water enters the ring channel approximately coaxially.

US 3 736 923).In the case of oral irrigators, it is also known to provide an annular channel with a circumferential ball in the spray head, the fluid being introduced tangentially and the fluid exiting coaxially from the annular channel (US Pat. No. 3,736,923).

The invention has for its object to improve the shower head according to the preamble of claim 1 and to design so that when used as a sanitary hand or stationary shower an optimal functionality and a relatively long service life is made possible.

This object is achieved in that the ball is arranged in an annular channel formed on a shower base and the annular channel is delimited at the upstream region by a nozzle disk, the cross section of the individual fluid outlet openings being larger than that of the individual nozzles for the fluid inlet.

Further refinements of the invention are specified in claims 2 to 10.

The arrangement of the ring channel on the shower base with the nozzle disk located upstream provides a good seal of the fluid outlet openings with the ball, the floating of the ball in the ring channel being avoided in particular by the direction of the fluid flow according to the invention. By floating the ball in the ring channel, the shut-off or interrupting action of the ball to the fluid outlet openings is reduced or even canceled.

In the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing, the same or corresponding elements are provided with the same reference numerals for the sake of simplicity.

The shower head 1 shown schematically in Figures 1 to 3 consists essentially of a housing with a water inlet opening 10, a shower base 2 with an annular channel 3, a ball 5 and a nozzle disc 4. The shower head 1, shown approximately at a scale of 2: 1, can be both can be used as a stationary shower as well as a hand shower. The shower base 2 is partially tightly connected to the water inlet opening 10 by means of thread 11. In the shower base 2, the ring channel 3 is formed concentrically to the central axis of the shower head 1. In the bottom of the ring channel 3, a roller track 31 is provided for the ball 5 for the circumferential shut-off of fluid outlet openings 30, so that an intermittent water jet is generated for showering and massage purposes. The runway 31 is toroidal, corresponding to the diameter of the ball 5, and has a width which corresponds to approximately twice the diameter of the fluid outlet openings 30. On the upstream side, the ring channel 3 is closed by the nozzle disk 4, in which nozzles 40 designed for the water inlet are arranged. The nozzles 40 designed as bores have an inclination 41 of approximately 15 ° to the central axis of the shower head 1, as can be seen from FIG. 3.

A particularly favorable dimensioning of the shower head 1, as confirmed by tests, can be achieved if the average diameter 32 of the ring channel 3 is approximately 20 mm and the ball 5 has a diameter of approximately 10 mm. The ball 5 should be guided in the ring channel 3 with little play, the play between the nozzle disk 4 and the runway 31 of the shower base 2 being between 1/10 to 3/10 mm. For the shower jet generation, five symmetrically arranged fluid outlet openings 30 in the runway 31 are designed as bores with a diameter of 2.5 mm and a bore length of approximately 6 mm. In the nozzle disc 4, twelve symmetrically arranged nozzles 40, which are designed as bores and have a diameter of 2 mm and an inclination 41 of 15 °, are likewise provided on a circular ring with a diameter 32.

With the shower head 1 described above can at a flow pressure of 1 to 3 bar supplied shower water about 50 to 100 revolutions per second of the ball 5 are generated in the ring channel 3, so that the fluid outlet openings 30 are closed and released all round by the ball 5, which causes an intermittent delivery of shower jets from the fluid outlet openings 30 and the pulsation effect of the Beam pattern causes. An optimal intermittent sealing of the fluid outlet openings 30 is achieved by means of the toroidal roller conveyor 31 and the water flows directed approximately parallel to the central axis of the shower head 1.

The ball 5 is expediently made of polypropylene. The runway 31 with the fluid outlet openings 30 can also advantageously be produced from a rubber-elastic material.

The exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 4 includes a shower head 1, which is provided for a stationary arrangement on a building wall, etc. The shower head 1 is provided with a changeover device 7, by means of which the inflowing shower water can be supplied to various jet generation systems. The shower head 1 with its changeover device 7 largely corresponds to the shower head shown in German Patent 30 47 336 C2, but the shower base 2 is designed in accordance with the invention.

The shower water is fed to the shower head 1 via a connector 12 and fed to the changeover device 7 via inlet openings 13. The changeover is carried out with a hollow piston valve 14, so that on the one hand a fluid outlet nozzle 6 arranged centrally in the shower base 2 is supplied with the inflowing water and generates a continuously escaping shower jet, as shown in the right half of FIG. In another position of the hollow piston valve 14, as shown in the left half of FIG. 4, only the annular channel 3 formed in the shower base 2 is supplied with water. The shower base 2 is firmly connected to the hollow piston valve 14 so that it carries out the axial movements in accordance with the hollow piston valve 14. In the fully inserted position in the shower head 1, as shown in the left half of Figure 4, a member 35 designed as a housing pin engages through an opening 42 in the ring channel 3 and stops the rotating ball 5 in such a position that shower jets can be generated continuously in all fluid outlet openings 30. In this position, the well-known, continuously emerging full shower jet is generated. If, on the other hand, the shower base 2 is pushed out of the shower head 1 by a partial area with the aid of the changeover device 7, the link 35 releases the circulation for the ball 5, but the hollow piston slide valve 14 is still in a position such that the entire inflowing shower water is above the Inlet openings 13 are fed to the ring channel 3, so that now pulsating shower jets are now emitted from the fluid outlet openings 30. Only then, when the shower base 2 is pushed further out of the shower head 1 with the change-over device 7, does the incoming shower water change, as can be seen from the right half of the figure in FIG.
