Definitions
- the present invention relates to an envelope with a pressure-sensitive adhesive closure, wherein a flap coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer can be glued to an adhesive surface of the envelope to close the envelope.
- Envelopes of this type are known and widely used.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the inside of the loose flap formed on the front of the envelope is covered with a siliconized protective strip. This prevents the flap from sticking to the back of the envelope, makes it easier to fill the envelope and permanently protects the adhesive layer from various influences.
- the separation value of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is usually set so that the protective strip can be easily removed from the flap, but after the envelope has been closed from the back of the flap, it can no longer be removed without residue and without destruction.
- a disadvantage of the known envelopes is above all the waste resulting from the protective strip to be removed when the envelope is closed.
- the envelope 1 has a rectangular pocket 1 with a closure flap 2 formed on the upper edge of its front side.
- the closure flap 2 is inserted into the pocket 1.
- the envelope is ready to use.
- the desired content for example a letter 3, can be inserted directly, as shown in FIG. 2.
- the flap 2 is pulled out (FIG. 3) and the envelope is closed in the usual way by gluing the flap on the outside on the back of the envelope (FIG. 4).
- the flap is provided on the inside with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4, which is outlined in dashed lines in FIG. 3.
- a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 which is outlined in dashed lines in FIG. 3.
- the flap 2 with this pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 is glued on the inside to the front of the envelope, specifically to the adhesive surface 5 that can be seen in FIG. 5 and with a dashed border the flap 2 is glued when the envelope is closed, is framed with dots in FIGS. 1 to 3 and is designated by 6 in each case.
- the surface properties of the two adhesive surfaces 5 and 6 are chosen to be essentially the same and the separation value of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 is adjusted in a known manner so that it is light, residue-free and non-destructive both adhesive surfaces can be removed again. In this case, the adhesive surfaces 5 and 6 do not need special treatment.
- the envelope cannot be opened non-destructively.
- special treatment e.g. Siliconizing the inner adhesive surface 5.
- Pressure sensitive adhesive can be removed from a silicone surface much more easily than e.g. from a paper surface.
- the separation value of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is to be set such that the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 can be easily removed from the inner adhesive surface 5, but not from the outer adhesive surface 6, without residue or in a non-destructive manner.
- the inner adhesive surface 5 can be siliconized by direct silicone application to the material of the envelope or by sticking on a siliconized separating strip, as shown in FIG. 6.
- the siliconized separating strip can e.g. be a siliconized paper or film strip.
- Fig. 6 it is designated 7.
- the separating strip 7 is only shown not fully glued on in order to emphasize it somewhat in the drawing.
- the separating strip 7, as shown in FIG. 7, can also be part of the transparent film covering the window 8 in the case of so-called window envelopes, which then simply has to be dimensioned somewhat larger than usual, covering the adhesive surface 5.
- the simplest is that the window film is siliconized on its entire surface and not only in the area of the adhesive surface 5.
- the flap 2 which in turn hangs on the front side of the envelope, is folded approximately in half lengthways.
- the resultant edge-side or outer half is provided with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4.
- the other half serves as an adhesive surface for the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.
- Pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 and adhesive surface 5 are again designated 4 and 5 in FIG. 8. If necessary, the adhesive surface 5 can be siliconized again, either directly, or by permanently adhering a siliconized separating strip 7.
- both halves of the flap 2 can of course also be provided with a uniform adhesive layer.
- separating strip 7 is then to be glued to the flap half provided as the adhesive surface 5 with its side which is not siliconized and adheres more strongly to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4.
- Fig. 9 shows the envelope in the ready-to-use state, with the flap folded in and glued in half, but is open.
- the adhesive surface on the back of the cover, on which the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 is stuck when the cover is closed, is again surrounded by dots and designated by 6.
- two flaps 10 and 11 are provided.
- the flap 10 is formed on the upper edge of the front cover and the flap 11 on the upper edge of the rear cover.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 is provided here on the flap 11 and the further adhesive surface 5, from which the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 can be detached completely and non-destructively, is located on the back of the envelope below this flap.
- 11 shows both the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 and the adhesive surface 5.
- the adhesive surface 5 can in turn either be siliconized directly or else be provided with a glued-on, siliconized protective strip 7.
- the adhesive surface on which the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 is glued when the envelope is closed is here again surrounded by dots and designated by 12. In this embodiment, it is arranged on the inside of the flap 10.
- the flap 11 which is folded down and releasably adhered to the adhesive surface 5 on the back of the envelope by means of its adhesive layer, is detached from the rear of the envelope and folded up into the position according to FIG. 11.
- the flap 10 can then be opened of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 then lying on top.
- it is finally possible to place each between the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 and the outer edge of the flap on which it is arranged is left as a grip tab an edge zone 9 not coated with pressure sensitive adhesive.
- the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is better protected from oxidation than before; the envelopes remain usable longer.
- the silicone can be separated from the paper pulp together with the release liner during recycling and therefore has no negative impact on the paper quality.
- the production of the envelopes according to the invention is no more complex than the known envelopes; more material is not needed than before.
Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an envelope with a pressure-sensitive adhesive closure, wherein a flap coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer can be glued to an adhesive surface of the envelope to close the envelope.
Envelopes of this type are known and widely used. In the known envelopes, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the inside of the loose flap formed on the front of the envelope is covered with a siliconized protective strip. This prevents the flap from sticking to the back of the envelope, makes it easier to fill the envelope and permanently protects the adhesive layer from various influences. The separation value of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is usually set so that the protective strip can be easily removed from the flap, but after the envelope has been closed from the back of the flap, it can no longer be removed without residue and without destruction.
A disadvantage of the known envelopes is above all the waste resulting from the protective strip to be removed when the envelope is closed.
- - Aufklappen der Klappe;
- - Einschieben des Inhaltes;
- - Entfernen des Schutzstreifens;
- - Zuklappen und Anpressen;
- - Entsorgen des entfernten Schutzstreifens.
- - open the flap;
- - inserting the content;
- - removing the protective strip;
- - Collapse and press on;
- - Dispose of the removed protective strip.
It is a particular object of the invention to provide an envelope of the type mentioned at the beginning, in which no loose, separately to be disposed of waste arises when it is closed.
This object is achieved according to the invention by an envelope with the features of

If it is desired that the envelope can be opened and closed several times, the surface properties of the two
For most applications, however, it will be desirable that the envelope cannot be opened non-destructively. In this case special treatment is required, e.g. Siliconizing the inner
The inner
The separating
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 10 and 11, two
In the envelopes according to the invention, no protective film strips have to be removed in several advantageous ways and disposed of separately as waste. Even if a dividing strip is used, it remains firm and is not visibly connected to it when the envelope is closed. Compared to the known envelopes with a pressure-sensitive adhesive closure mentioned at the outset, handling at least in the first two described embodiments when filling and closing is also simplified in that there is no need to open the flap, which can be particularly important in the case of larger letters.
In particular in the embodiment with the flap glued to the inside of the front cover, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is better protected from oxidation than before; the envelopes remain usable longer. When using a siliconized release liner, the silicone can be separated from the paper pulp together with the release liner during recycling and therefore has no negative impact on the paper quality. The production of the envelopes according to the invention is no more complex than the known envelopes; more material is not needed than before.
