Definitions
- the invention relates to a desiccant insert, a method for its production and a container with the insert.
- dry closures consist of a cylinder fitted inside the closure, which has a smaller diameter than the outer cylinder overlapping the container edge in the case of a screw closure or into the container edge engaging outer cylinder in a plug and which is filled with a desiccant and then facing the container interior, is closed by a cardboard disc.
- the purpose of this measure is, so to speak, to "absorb" the moisture which arises inside the container, ie the water vapor penetrates through the cardboard disc and is absorbed by the drying agent, for example silica gel or alumina or molecular sieve.
- the drying agent for example silica gel or alumina or molecular sieve.
- Desiccant cylinders developed from these dry closures are also known, which are constructed like the ones described above for closures and are used to be added to the contents in mostly larger containers.
- the disadvantage of this type of keeping dry in a pharmaceutical or luxury container can lie in a so-called “overdrying”, in particular of the filling material lying in the vicinity of the dry substance combined in the stopper.
- overdrying in particular of the filling material lying in the vicinity of the dry substance combined in the stopper.
- This is understood to mean that the water vapor diffuses too quickly through the separation between the dry substance and the content-forming cardboard disc which closes the cylinder holding the substance, as a result of which the nearby tablets, coated tablets or the like become too dry and then break easily.
- This is often accompanied by the condition that the portion of the dry matter lying over the cardboard disc is used up very quickly and intensely, as a result a kind of barrier layer is created that prevents the penetration of further water vapor.
- a moisture absorbent is known which is made from a mixture of gypsum, silica and water. From this moisture absorbent, for example, a cylindrical disc can be produced which, when used in a salt or pepper shaker, keeps its contents dry.
- the present invention has for its object to provide a medicament or luxury container for tablets, dragées, capsules and the like, which keeps the entire content dry without fear of over-drying in places and which is easy to manufacture.
- a desiccant capsule and a method for producing a desiccant-containing insert are to be specified.
- this insert for the container and / or closure consists of plastic, in where the desiccant grains are bound but not fully embedded in the largest possible amount, so that at least a substantial part of their active surface is exposed to the interior of the container.
- CH-PS 343,104 has made it known, so-called soft packaging materials, e.g. Foils for soup bags, with absorption material in the finest distribution and protected by the material in which the absorption medium is embedded, itself or by an additional layer.

- Fig. 1 shows a container made of plastic, generally designated 1, in particular for medicinal products to be kept dry during storage in the form of tablets, dragee, capsules and pearls, but also for stimulants, e.g. so-called effervescent tablets is suitable. It consists of the main body 2, which is usually not always cylindrical, with a base 3 and a circumferential annular groove 4 in the edge region for the engagement of the sealing bead of a sealing plug. The container can also have an external thread on the upper open edge and be closed with a closure cap.
- the main body 2 of the container 1 is lined on the inside with a desiccant layer, which consists of an insert in the form of a hollow cylinder 5.
- the hollow cylinder 5 is made of a plastic, e.g. PS, PE or PP are injected in the form of granules with the addition of a desiccant in such a way that the desiccant grains are bound as much as possible, but are not completely embedded, i.e. at least a substantial part of its active surface faces the interior 6 of the container.
- the thickness of the hollow cylinder 5 with a grain size of the desiccant of 0.5 to 0.8 mm is approximately 1.5 mm, i.e. the grain size makes up about 30 to 50% of the cylinder thickness.
- the total wall thickness of the container can then be approximately 2 mm.
- the insert in the form of a hollow cylinder 5 can be open at the top and bottom, depending on the type and shape of content, ie depending on the desired degree of drying, or, as shown, have a bottom 7.
- the insert can also consist of a plastic desiccant mixture to which a small percentage of blowing agent has been added.
- the blowing agent should therefore be added in such a way that no foaming occurs, but only to a certain extent a porous surface structure, i.e. the dry substance is not embedded, but remains accessible for the development of its effectiveness for the water vapor generated in the container.
- the embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from that according to FIG. 1 in that the effective active surface of the dry substance acting in the space 8 of the container 9 is increased by a stamp rising from the bottom 10 of the hollow cylindrical insert 11, which stamp varies depending on the type of content can be high.
- a plug 13 shown in vertical section in FIG. 3 with a cover plate 14 serving as a handle can suffice, the cylinder 15 engaging in the container having a sealing bead 16.
- the active surface of the drying agent extends as far as in the example according to FIG. 1 or is even increased according to FIG. 2 by a stamp 12, a plug insert 17 in the form of a solid cylinder of low height or a tablet can suffice.
- the container 18 of FIG. 4 has a hollow cylindrical insert 19 with or without a bottom, which only occupies part of the height of the main body of the container.
- a stopper 20 according to FIGS. 5 and 6 may be expedient, the insert 21 of which engages further than the insert 17 of the stopper 13 according to FIG. 3 into the interior 22 of the container 18 after closure and which has a large amount of active desiccant Surface.
- the insert 21 in the form of a cylinder inserted in a recess 23 of the underside of the cover plate 24 is divided into individual upright, spaced disks 25a, 25b ... so that intermediate channels 26 are formed in the water vapor arising in room 22 can penetrate.
- a cylindrical insert 27 can also be inserted into the stopper, which consists of concentric rings 28a, 28b with a central punch 29, between the vertical walls 30 of which the possibly too humid air from the interior of the container can penetrate.
- Figure 7 also illustrates that the rings 28 and punches 29 can have different heights, as can the washers 25 of the closure of Figures 5 and 6.
- FIG. 9 The bottom view of a plug 31 according to FIG. 9 following the construction principle of FIGS. 7 and 8 shows that, for example, the rings 32a, 32b can also have interruptions 33.34, in order to provide access to the inflowing air everywhere.
- the desiccant capsules added loosely to the material to be kept dry can also be designed according to the principle of the invention and, in this case too, will ensure better dryness due to their active surface, which is significantly larger than that of known capsules, or can be used in smaller numbers.
- simple inserts 21 or 27 according to FIGS. 5 to 9 can be used.
- the inserts of the containers do not have to be continuous cylinders, but can be divided into fields or strips which are only held together by one or more rings.
- the plug inserts do not have to be circular, but can have any other shape, e.g. have square.
- the manufacture of a container or closure according to the invention can be carried out by first injection molding an insert on a machine and completing the container in or around the machine.
- the workload compared to filling a cylinder in the closure with desiccant, sealing with a cardboard disc and fastening the disc can be significantly reduced.
Description
The invention relates to a desiccant insert, a method for its production and a container with the insert.
In the mostly tubular packaging of tablets, dragees, capsules or pearls, depending on the type of filling, it is often important that it does not become damp. If this is the case, it must be feared that despite a screw cap or stopper, especially by opening the container, moist air can get inside, which releases its moisture to the contents. Therefore, so-called "dry closures" have been known for a long time. These consist of a cylinder fitted inside the closure, which has a smaller diameter than the outer cylinder overlapping the container edge in the case of a screw closure or into the container edge engaging outer cylinder in a plug and which is filled with a desiccant and then facing the container interior, is closed by a cardboard disc. The purpose of this measure is, so to speak, to "absorb" the moisture which arises inside the container, ie the water vapor penetrates through the cardboard disc and is absorbed by the drying agent, for example silica gel or alumina or molecular sieve.
Desiccant cylinders developed from these dry closures are also known, which are constructed like the ones described above for closures and are used to be added to the contents in mostly larger containers.
The disadvantage of this type of keeping dry in a pharmaceutical or luxury container can lie in a so-called “overdrying”, in particular of the filling material lying in the vicinity of the dry substance combined in the stopper. This is understood to mean that the water vapor diffuses too quickly through the separation between the dry substance and the content-forming cardboard disc which closes the cylinder holding the substance, as a result of which the nearby tablets, coated tablets or the like become too dry and then break easily. This is often accompanied by the condition that the portion of the dry matter lying over the cardboard disc is used up very quickly and intensely, as a result a kind of barrier layer is created that prevents the penetration of further water vapor. The result is that the filling material lying near the dry substance at the top becomes too dry and the filling material lying near the bottom is not kept dry enough. This is particularly disadvantageous according to experience with gelatin capsules. In addition, the manufacture of such closures is complicated because first the closure is injected, then the inner cylinder is filled with dry substance, then a cardboard disc is inserted and then, usually by flanging the edge of the cylinder, the cardboard disc has to be fastened.
From US-A-2 202 742 a moisture absorbent is known which is made from a mixture of gypsum, silica and water. From this moisture absorbent, for example, a cylindrical disc can be produced which, when used in a salt or pepper shaker, keeps its contents dry.
The present invention has for its object to provide a medicament or luxury container for tablets, dragées, capsules and the like, which keeps the entire content dry without fear of over-drying in places and which is easy to manufacture. In addition, a desiccant capsule and a method for producing a desiccant-containing insert are to be specified.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved by the features of
According to the invention it is provided that for a container and its closure, in particular for pharmaceuticals and stimulants in the form of tablets, dragees, capsules and pearls, with an insert containing a granular drying agent, this insert for the container and / or closure consists of plastic, in where the desiccant grains are bound but not fully embedded in the largest possible amount, so that at least a substantial part of their active surface is exposed to the interior of the container.
Folien für Suppenbeutel, mit Absorptionsmaterial in feinster Verteilung und durch das Material, in dem das Absorptionsmittel eingebettet ist, selber oder durch eine zusätzliche Schicht geschützt, zu versehen.CH-PS 343,104 has made it known, so-called soft packaging materials, e.g. Foils for soup bags, with absorption material in the finest distribution and protected by the material in which the absorption medium is embedded, itself or by an additional layer.
The very fine distribution of the absorption material and its complete embedding, optionally using a moisture-permeable protective layer, is technically complex and can considerably limit the effect of the absorption material.

Fig. 1 shows a container made of plastic, generally designated 1, in particular for medicinal products to be kept dry during storage in the form of tablets, dragee, capsules and pearls, but also for stimulants, e.g. so-called effervescent tablets is suitable. It consists of the
According to the invention, the
The hollow cylinder 5 is made of a plastic, e.g. PS, PE or PP are injected in the form of granules with the addition of a desiccant in such a way that the desiccant grains are bound as much as possible, but are not completely embedded, i.e. at least a substantial part of its active surface faces the
The insert in the form of a hollow cylinder 5 can be open at the top and bottom, depending on the type and shape of content, ie depending on the desired degree of drying, or, as shown, have a bottom 7.
The insert can also consist of a plastic desiccant mixture to which a small percentage of blowing agent has been added.
The blowing agent should therefore be added in such a way that no foaming occurs, but only to a certain extent a porous surface structure, i.e. the dry substance is not embedded, but remains accessible for the development of its effectiveness for the water vapor generated in the container. This creates a directly accessible surface containing the desiccant, but at the same time avoids local overdrying due to the fact that the desiccant is not compact but held by plastic.
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from that according to FIG. 1 in that the effective active surface of the dry substance acting in the
For a container according to FIGS. 1 and 2, a
The
However, as illustrated in FIGS. 7 and 8, a
Figure 7 also illustrates that the rings 28 and punches 29 can have different heights, as can the washers 25 of the closure of Figures 5 and 6.
The bottom view of a
The desiccant capsules added loosely to the material to be kept dry can also be designed according to the principle of the invention and, in this case too, will ensure better dryness due to their active surface, which is significantly larger than that of known capsules, or can be used in smaller numbers. For this, e.g.
The examples shown and described above can only represent a small selection of the design options, which are subordinate to the inventive concept. Thus, of course, all the containers shown can be combined with all the plugs shown, just as caps instead of the plugs shown and described can also be equipped with a desiccant insert according to the invention, based on the principle of the plug, instead of the plugs over the edge of the container.
The inserts of the containers do not have to be continuous cylinders, but can be divided into fields or strips which are only held together by one or more rings. The plug inserts do not have to be circular, but can have any other shape, e.g. have square.
The manufacture of a container or closure according to the invention can be carried out by first injection molding an insert on a machine and completing the container in or around the machine. As a result, the workload compared to filling a cylinder in the closure with desiccant, sealing with a cardboard disc and fastening the disc can be significantly reduced.
