Description

The invention relates to an electrically heated glue gun according to the preamble of claim 1.

Known glue guns of this type usually have a metal body in which two parallel channels are formed. One channel is used to hold a cartridge-shaped electric heater, while the other channel is designed as a guide channel for the thermoplastic and is closed at one end with a nozzle. The thermoplastic adhesive is pushed into the guide channel under slight pressure, heated in the metal block and ejected under the pressure exerted, usually by the thumb, from the nozzle screwed into the metal block and thus also heated. Since the thermoplastic adhesives normally used have a working temperature of approx. 230 o C and in the known glue guns the entire metal block of approx. 5 cm in length and the adhesive enclosed therein must be heated to this temperature, on the one hand the energy requirement is relatively high and it is the heating-up time is uncomfortably long. Even if the energy requirement plays only a minor role in the case of mains-operated glue guns, the known glue guns are unsuitable for battery or rechargeable battery operation. Battery operation would be desirable in order to be able to operate the glue gun independently of the mains and without the annoying mains cable when handling.

The present invention has for its object to provide an adhesive gun with low energy consumption. This object is achieved according to the present invention by the characterizing features of claim 1.

The arrangement of the electric heater directly in the guide channel of the adhesive and in the immediate nozzle area makes it possible to start the glue gun with a relatively low energy consumption just a few seconds after switching on, because the amount of thermoplastic adhesive that is heated up for operational readiness must be very low and the energy transfer from the radiator into the adhesive material takes place without additional heat-conducting bodies and thus with low heat capacity losses.

Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen sind den Unteransprüchen zu entnehmen.Advantageous further developments can be found in the subclaims.

Due to the conical design of the interior of the nozzle according to claim 2, sufficient space is created to accommodate the radiator, the heat capacities required for heating are kept to a minimum and still ensure that the still solid part of the adhesive rod on the already liquefied part can be pressed to ensure continuous tracking.

The preferred development according to claim 3 has the advantage that the entire nozzle area can be heated uniformly.

The preferred further development according to claim 4 leads to a significant reduction in the power requirement in operation.

The development according to claim 5 ensures that the heating is brought up directly to the parts of the adhesive that are being carried out.

The development according to claim 6 prevents liquid adhesive from escaping to the rear and the adhesive sticking in the guide channel or jamming there.

The development according to claim 7 serves to limit the energy consumption to the case of need.

Based on an embodiment shown in the drawing, the invention is explained in more detail below.
  • The only figure shown in the drawing shows a glue gun with the features essential to the invention in cross section.

The essential parts of the glue gun consist of a central tube section 1, into which a nozzle 2 is inserted on one side and a guide tube 3 is inserted on the other side. In the middle pipe section 1 there is a sleeve 4 made of silicone rubber, which is provided with two spaced-apart annular lips 5. The nozzle 2 is conical, its largest inside diameter being somewhat larger than the inside diameter of the guide tube 3. This largest diameter is equal to the inside diameter of the sleeve 4 made of silicone rubber, while the inside diameter of the lips 5 correspond to the inside diameter of the guide tube 3. In the foremost part of the nozzle 2, a hood 6 with a U-shaped cross section is inserted, which has a circular opening 9 with a diameter of approximately 2 mm at its foremost end. The nozzle 2 and the hood 6 are made of metal, while the pipe section 1 and the guide tube 3 are preferably made of plastic, although metal tubes can also be used there. The nozzle 2 is lined with a thin layer of mica insulation 7. In the nozzle 2 is a spirally coiled heating wire 8, the electrical resistance of which is dimensioned with respect to the material used, its diameter and its length such that the total resistance at a given supply voltage provides the required heat output. The end of the heating wire 8 assigned to the nozzle outlet side is bent in a U-shape and protrudes into the hood 6 in order to be able to sufficiently heat its interior and in particular the immediate area around the outlet opening 9. The connection ends of the heating wire are led out of the nozzle in order to be connected to a suitable electrical energy source. In the event that the glue gun is operated in the low-voltage range, for example from a battery or a rechargeable battery, it is advantageous to connect one end of the heating wire directly to the metallic nozzle 2 and to use the nozzle 2 as a current conductor. In the event that, as shown, the other end of the heating wire 8 is led through the nozzle wall, care must be taken to ensure that electrical insulation is present there.

When the glue gun is operated by a battery or a rechargeable battery, the battery or the rechargeable battery can be accommodated in the handle (not shown) of the gun. It makes sense to accommodate the necessary electrical switch in this handle. The fact that the glue gun is ready for operation just a few seconds after switching on opens up the possibility of switching the device off during work breaks. The electrical switch can therefore be designed as a work button that connects the heating wire 8 only when necessary with the energy source.

The operation of the device is briefly explained below.

In the cooled state of the device, the nozzle 2 with its hood 6 is filled with cooled thermoplastic adhesive material. So many glue sticks are inserted from behind through the guide tube 3 and into the silicone sleeve 4 that material can be pushed in with the thumb. When the device is switched on, the heating wire 8 is heated over its entire length. It melts the material in the immediate area of the heating wire, whereby the melting takes place fastest where the heating wire is closest, namely in the front nozzle area and in the hood 6. If you now press on the inserted glue sticks from behind, it becomes easier Pressure is exerted on the already plastic material and the material is expelled at the nozzle opening, the part of the heating wire arranged in the immediate vicinity of the nozzle opening ensuring that the material is discharged at maximum temperature. The liquefaction of the adhesive continues with increasing operation in the space adjacent to the nozzle 2 in the pipe section 1. The front lip 5 on the sleeve 4 made of silicone rubber prevents liquid material from escaping to the rear. This lip 5 forms a barrier to the liquid adhesive. Since the liquid adhesive does not bond with the silicone rubber, it is ensured that, once the thermoplastic has cooled and restarted, the required pressure from the solid part of the adhesive material onto the already liquefied part immediately can be exercised.
