Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrical cable with a braided strand consisting of crossed metallic braiding elements and surrounding the cable core, in which non-metallic elements of high tensile strength are braided.
- non-metallic threads of high tensile strength are combined with metallic wires of high electrical conductivity to form a mixed braid.
- the electrically conductive wires made of soft copper or aluminum cannot absorb high tensile forces.
- the non-metallic threads, which are made of Kevlar, for example, serve this purpose.
- metal-free open areas to the interior of the cable are created. With a high-frequency cable, this results in higher attenuation. The immunity to interference decreases.
- the invention has for its object to improve the immunity to interference of a cable of the type mentioned and to avoid increases in attenuation.
- the solution is achieved in that the metallic braiding elements and the non-metallic elements are arranged radially one above the other in parallel.
- the mixed braid strand remains electrically as dense as in a purely metallic braid strand.
- non-metallic element At the points where a non-metallic element is clamped between the compartments, it causes the braiding elements that cross over to hold together. This increases the tensile strength of the cable.
- the cross-section required for the non-metallic strain relief elements is so small that the diameter of the cable is not appreciably increased as a result, but the tensile strength can be multiplied.
- the mechanical properties of the cable such as flexibility and temperature resistance are not affected.
- the electrical properties, in particular of a high-frequency cable, remain unaffected by the non-metallic elements if these are arranged radially above the metallic braiding elements. Then there are only metallic braiding elements on the dielectric layer.
- the metallic braiding elements preferably consist of individual wires running in parallel. Then the non-metallic elements advantageously extend in a band-shaped flat manner over at least part of the individual wires. Because of the particularly small radial dimensions of the non-metallic elements, there is practically no increase in the diameter of the cable.
- the non-metallic elements can be coated with a hot-melt adhesive which, when heat is applied, causes them to be glued to adjacent cable assembly elements.
- a particularly high tensile strength is achieved in that the braided strand is applied tightly to an inner pressure-stable cable construction element.
- a suitable pressure-stable cable construction element is in particular the dielectric insulating layer of a coaxial cable.
- the figure shows a cross section through a high-frequency coaxial cable constructed according to the invention.
- a preferred field of application for such cables according to the invention are self-supporting coils for electrical connection with moving steering bodies.
- Such cables are stable in sea water down to water depths of 200 m.
- a braided strand is braided tightly around a central stranded conductor 1 and an insulating dielectric 2. It consists of oppositely helical braiding elements 3 and 4, which run alternately inside and outside due to the fold. They each consist of five soft Cu wires 5, for example.
- Every second braiding element 3 or 4 is assigned a non-metallic element 6, which in each case consists of numerous Kevlar threads and lies in the form of a flat band on the braiding elements 3 and 4 on the outside.
- the non-metallic elements are preferably applied to the metallic braiding elements when they run into a braiding device. Then the outer conductor and strain relief are manufactured in a single joint operation.
- the tensile strength of the cable described is three times higher than that of a cable with a non-reinforced copper braid. A sixfold tensile strength could be achieved by introducing a further eight non-metallic elements 6.
Description
- Jedem zweiten Flechtelement 3 bzw.
