Description
The invention relates to a device for temperature control or setting of programmable detonators with a loaded cartridge according to the preamble of claim 1 and to an ammunition for use in the temperature control device.
Adjustment devices for the temperature control of cartridges located in the weapon barrel with programmable detonators are known per se. In the case of wired transmission, a control signal from the firing line (tank gunner) for the detonator in the cartridge (multi-purpose igniter MTA) is usually fed in via wire line via a direct electrical central contact in the base of the cartridge from a fixed contact arranged at a corresponding point in the breech of the weapon. This can disadvantageously lead to contact difficulties due to powder vapor deposits or the like.
In the case of wireless transmission, the igniter setting takes place, for. B. by means of optical or electronic transmitting and receiving devices. For this purpose, e.g. B. from US-PS 4,144,815 a setting pulse transmission arrangement via microwave field in the gun barrel is known, wherein the detonator arranged in the top of the projectile has a corresponding antenna and in the mouth region of the gun barrel a microwave transmitter connected to an input device is provided.
In this case, too, transmission disturbances due to powder vapor or large temperature fluctuations can occur with a rapid firing sequence. Furthermore, the transmitter unit opening into the tube must be designed to be very robust and pressure-resistant, it requires complex feeding of the microwave cables and coupling elements on the weapon barrel and, of course, must be converted or exchanged with each tube change.
From DE-OS 33 07 785 a method and a device for setting a projectile detonator is also known, in which a transmission unit (coil or Light guide) is integrated in the area of the projectile body located in the tube and the projectile itself has a ring-shaped (electrical or optical) reception system in the central region on the circumference. Here, the transmitter unit arranged in the tube is also exposed to high pressure and high temperature and is subject to uncontrollable contamination by erosion, deposits, etc.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a data transmission system for the detonator setting of an ammunition already in the barrel, which is not exposed to any extreme loads and is easy to control.
The object is achieved with a device according to the characterizing features of claim 1. Because the input device consists of a transmitter unit for detonator programming pulses arranged in the area of the breech block in the protected interior of the turret, this transmitter unit can be easily checked and, if necessary, exchanged; it is not subject to extreme temperature and pressure loads like previously known transmission devices.
The establishment of an optical or electromagnetic data transmission link according to the invention between the (tank) fire control system and the cartridge located in the loading space of the weapon is harmless in terms of safety, since it contains its own programming circuit. It offers a high level of data transmission security due to the low possibility of interference or susceptibility to interference and can be retrofitted with existing large-caliber weapons with little change to any weapon system.
Newer types of explosive ammunition for tank cannons require the fastest possible reaction time from setting the associated detonator to breaking the shot. This requirement can only be met by setting / programming the igniter when the cartridge is already in the cargo area. This can be realized very advantageously with the igniter setting device according to the invention.
Deactivating an already set detonator and unloading deactivated ammunition from the weapon barrel is also ensured in the simplest and most secure manner.
The data transmission system according to the invention is based on the simple use of a free space between the wedge lock and the rear weapon barrel - this location or a corresponding "window" is already present in the Leopard II main battle tank, other armored weapons can also be easily operated with such a "window" be provided - within the protected turret area, where direct access to the cartridge is possible when the weapon is closed. In the base part (breech housing) of the weapon, even with the breech closed, the edge of the metallic sleeve collar or sleeve bottom (stub sleeve) of the cartridge with partially combustible sleeve is freely visible from above and below. This free space or free line of sight is used in the invention as a data transmission line for the ignition setting. The data receiving part (antenna) is advantageously not located directly in the cargo space or front weapon barrel loaded with gas pressure and powder vapor, but on the rear collar of the projectile sleeve, which, for. B. is designed as a metallic stub and has a rubber sealing ring at its front connecting edge to a front combustible part of the cartridge case. The receiving unit is protected from gas pressure and powder vapor by the metal sleeve (eyelet) with a sealing ring.
Compared to known comparable transmission devices, this results in an ammunition-related security advantage, greater data transmission security and less additional outlay on the weapon system. In the event of a pipe change, the data transmission system according to the invention remains unaffected.
