Abstract

Pictures or other objects hung on a wall could be illuminated hitherto by means of compact lamps in an unsatisfactory manner in terms of design. In order to achieve an improvement both in respect of the construction and the design, the picture rail is constructed as a profile rail (6) which serves at the same time as an electric conductor and is connected to a current supply. The hanging elements (7) are likewise constructed as electric conductors and are in connection via contact heads with the respective electric phase of the profile rail (6). A lamp (11) can then be attached to the hanging elements (7), the support parts of which lamp form the electric conductors at the same time. This enables a filigree-type design if thin or possibly springy wires are used. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a gallery bar for hanging objects, in particular pictures, consisting of a profile rail which can be fastened to a building wall and to which at least one hanging element is slidably connected.

Gallery strips of the type described in the introduction are known. In order to be able to illuminate objects, for example pictures, suspended from such gallery strips, it was previously necessary to arrange lights at a corresponding distance from the ceiling of the room or on pieces of furniture located nearby. This is disadvantageous both in terms of interior design and the additional effort for installing the lights.

The invention has for its object to provide a gallery bar that also contains the electrical installation for the connection of lights.

This object is achieved in that the profile rail has a contact rail connected to a power supply, preferably a low-voltage power supply, and that the hanging element is designed as an electrical conductor, has a contact head which can be connected to the contact rail, and is used to supply power to a lamp. This arrangement makes it possible, while taking advantage of the low weight of such low-voltage lamps, to use the hanging element for the object for the power supply of the lamp to be assigned to the object. The hanging element can be designed as a two-wire electrical conductor, the contact head correspondingly having two contacts that can be connected to the two parts of the contact rail. The lamp itself can be attached directly to the picture. It is particularly simple if the hanging element forms only one current-carrying wire, so that two hanging elements are to be used for each object. In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, this arrangement makes it possible to produce the hanging element from a rigid metal wire which at the same time serves as a supporting part for the lamp. This makes it possible, using the low weight of low-voltage luminaires, to attach the luminaires directly to the two hanging elements at a distance above the suspended objects. It is particularly expedient here if the lamp is held at a distance from the wall of the building by at least two essentially rigid metal wires, the ends of which are each connected to a hanging element. These metal wires branching off the hanging elements in turn serve both as supporting parts for the lamp and as electrical conductors for the power supply to the lamp. The particular advantage of this design is that practically only the illuminant with the associated reflector is visible in the room from the lights, while the connection to the wall via the steel wires is almost invisible. This results in a particularly appealing interior design, since the viewer only assigns the object to be illuminated Perceives "light point" because the associated connection to the building wall is practically invisible. Depending on the desired cantilever distance, additional wire-shaped supports made of the same wire material can be provided, which are supported either directly on the building wall or in triangular form on the hanging element or on the suspended object.

In an embodiment of the invention it is provided that the profile rail has two profile halves which can be electrically insulated from one another and which each consist at least partially of electrically conductive material. This configuration has the advantage of simple assembly, since one profile half can be screwed onto the wall and then the other, external profile half can be clipped on from the outside, for example via a snap connection, so that the attachment is not visible. It is particularly expedient if the profile halves are made from an electrically conductive material, for example aluminum, since only a single profile contour then has to be designed with a correspondingly symmetrical design of the profile halves. Here, however, it is necessary that the two profile halves are connected to one another via plug-shaped or strip-shaped holding bodies made of an insulating material. Since the cross section of each profile half must be large for reasons of strength, there is a further advantage that there is no voltage drop caused by the profile halves serving as conductors in the usual room lengths. This allows the power supply to be connected to the end of a mounting rail.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that a continuous strip made of an electrically insulating material is provided for the insulation of the profile halves from each other, which has a continuous groove-shaped recess for receiving a power cable.

This arrangement allows the gallery bar to be used additionally as a "cable duct" for a 220 volt cable, so that in very long rooms a continuous gallery bar can be divided into several sections, each section being connected to its own low-voltage power supply, which in turn is fed via the 220 volt cable that runs through the gallery bar.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the edges of the recess are resilient and at least partially cover the recess. In such an extruded strip made of a plastic material, this embodiment offers the possibility of "clipping" the 220 volt cable into the groove-shaped recess, so that the cable is held in the strip and ensures that even with a defective cable, the low voltage fed, not provided with an insulating jacket hanging elements can come into connection with the cable via the profile halves of the profile rail.

In a further embodiment of the invention, it is provided that at least one profile half is provided with a plurality of notches arranged at a distance from one another for inserting a contact head. This configuration allows a simple change of hanging elements and / or also of lights directly provided with a contact head, without the entire hanging on a wall having to be changed by shifting.

In an embodiment of the invention it is further provided that the contact head consists of an insulating body, in which a support nipple made of electrically conductive material is held which is connected to the hanging element and projects beyond the insulating body on one side in the direction of a profile half. This ensures that the weight of the suspended object also ensures perfect contact between the hanging element and the contact rail and, on the other hand, a reliable absorption of the weight of the suspended object on the gallery bar is guaranteed.

In Fig. 1, a picture wall with several pictures 1, 2, 3 and 4 is shown in a partial section through a room. A profile rail 6 is fastened to the building wall 5 in the ceiling area, on which the pictures in question are suspended via two hanging elements 7. The fastening means, which are not shown in detail here, can be attached to the hanging elements 7 in a height-adjustable manner. Via a contact head 8 each connected to the hanging element 7, the structure of which will be described in more detail below, the hanging elements 7 are held in a form-fitting manner in the profile rail 6, so that the images can also be easily aligned in the longitudinal direction by simply shifting the respective hanging elements 7 laterally can be.

The profile rail 6 is either provided with a two-pole contact rail or, as will be described in more detail below, itself designed as a two-pole contact rail and connected to a low-voltage power supply 9. This is formed, for example, by a transformer, which optionally supplies a low voltage of, for example, 6 to 24 volts. The low-voltage power supply 9 is connected via a supply cable 10 to the normal power supply, for example a 220 volt voltage.

The hanging elements 7 are now designed as an electrical conductor, for example in the form of a wire strand, but preferably also in the form of a resiliently rigid steel wire, the contact head 8 being designed such that it can be optionally with one pole and the other pole of the profile rail 6 in Connection is established. This creates a power supply for lights 11, 12, 13 or 14 for each suspension, which will be described in more detail below. The hanging elements 7 are without, but can also be designed with an insulating jacket.

The lamp 11 is shown in a side view in FIG. 2. The lamp 11 consists, for example, of a commercially available low-voltage lamp with an integrated reflector and is connected to the two hanging elements 7 of FIG. 1 via two spring-stiff steel wires 15 designed as electrical conductors. The wires 15 thus at the same time form "hanging elements" designed as electrical conductors for the lamp 11, via which it is connected to the profile rail 6 serving as a contact rail. The free ends of the wires 15 are fastened to the hanging elements 7 by means of corresponding holding elements 16, which are slidably fixed on the hanging elements 7 by means of a clamp or screw connection, so that a precise adjustment of the lamp 11 in relation to the image 1 to be illuminated is possible is. By using a resilient wire, for example a steel wire, results a filigree, practically "invisible" design option for the hanging elements 7 and the wires 15 connecting the lamp 11 to the hanging elements 7. In addition to the free bending curve shown in Fig. 2, the use of a spring-stiff wire as a support element for the lamp 11 allows a variety of arbitrary design options when using several interconnected wires, wherein the shape can be designed using different, mutually influencing bending forces.

The hanging acc. the line III-III shows an embodiment in which the two pictures 2 and 3 are suspended together on two hanging elements 7 on the profile rail 6. Here, too, the hanging elements 7 are in turn designed as electrical conductors, and each image can be assigned its own lamp 12 or 13 without an additional supply line. The lamp 12 is connected in another somewhat stiffer design with the hanging elements 7, while the lamp 13 is attached to the frame of the picture 3, the power supply via corresponding leads 16 'is tapped from the hanging elements 7 on the back of the picture. The arrangement acc. Fig. 3 also shows the possibility of laying the profile rail 6 in the ceiling area in the same way as is known for curtain rails.

When the picture 4 is hung, as can be seen from FIG. 4, a different shape is chosen for the lamp. In this embodiment, it is not necessary to form the hanging elements 7 'for the image 4 as an electrical conductor. Rather, use is made here with advantage that the serving as a hanging element, preferably made of thin wire and supporting the lamp 14 carrying parts 15 'can be designed as electrical conductors and thus directly attached via corresponding contact heads 8' in the current-carrying profile rail 6 can. The required lateral stability of the arrangement is ensured via lateral supports 17.

While with appropriate dimensioning of the conductor cross section of the current-carrying parts of the profile rail 6 there is practically no voltage drop over the length of the conductor rail, a spring-bendable steel wire is used for the hanging elements 7 and 15 due to the somewhat higher electrical resistance per luminaire compared to normal electrical conductors corresponding voltage drop. With the usual lengths for such hanging elements, however, four lights per profile rail unit can be operated with the usual performance of low-voltage transformers. In the case of particularly long picture walls, however, it is expedient to subdivide the mounting rail 6 and, as shown in FIG. 1, to interpose a further low-voltage power supply 9 ', each of which serves to supply the power to the connecting mounting rail 6'. The connection to the power supply is indicated by an arrow.

In Fig. 5, an embodiment for a profile rail 6 is shown on a larger scale in section. This consists essentially of two profile halves 18 'and 18˝, which are extruded from aluminum, for example, and are therefore electrically conductive. The two profile halves 18 'and 18' are connected to each other via a plurality of stopper-like holding bodies 19 distributed over the length of the profile rail and made of an insulating material, the profile rail 6 being firmly screwed to the building wall via the holding bodies 19 as a whole. Through a corresponding bore 20 in the wall-side profile half 18 ', in which a corresponding approach engages on the holding body 19, a perfect, two profile halves mutually insulating fastening is ensured.

The two, the profile rail 6 forming profile halves 18 'and 18˝ are symmetrical, so that you can work with only one profile shape. The profile shape is chosen so that in the assembled state, as shown in Fig. 5, both on the top and on the bottom continuous groove 21 in the manner of a hammer head groove. In the groove 21 is now from the end face or notches 22 in the wall-side profile half 18 ', which are spaced along the length, a contact head 8 inserted, which is attached to the free end of the hanging element 7. The contact head 8 here consists of an insulating body 24, in which a support nipple 25 connected to the hanging element 7 and made of electrically conductive material is firmly connected. Since each profile half forms a phase of the profile rail 6 forming the electrical power supply, this ensures that a hanging element 7 can only be connected to one phase of the power supply. Since the contact head 8 is also symmetrical, one of the profile halves can be brought into an electrically conductive connection with the hanging element either by appropriate alignment of the insulating body 24.

The embodiment acc. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the profile rails instead of plug-shaped holding bodies are paid via a continuous strip 26 made of an electrically insulating material. The strip 26 has a continuous groove-shaped recess 27 which is provided in the edge region with resilient edge lips 28 directed inwards. The recess 27 here serves as a cable duct through which a cable 29 with, for example, 220 volt voltage can be guided in electrically sound insulation relative to the low-voltage side formed by the profile halves 18 'and 18˝. In this way, it is possible without affecting the room design, the series connection indicated in Fig. 1 of several low-voltage power supplies 9 and 9 'to be arranged on the ceiling. Each subsequent low voltage power supply is then separately connected to the cable 29. At the same time, it is possible to tap the power supply for other 220 volt power consumers in the ceiling area. The structure otherwise corresponds to the structure of the profile rail described with reference to FIG. 5.

In Fig. 7, the contact head 8 of a hanging element 7 is shown again in two views to illustrate how different phases of the power supply can be tapped from the profile rail 6 by different hooking into the profile rail 6.

The invention is not limited to the illustrated and described embodiment of the profile rail and the hanging elements connected to it. It is thus possible, for example, to produce the profiled rail 6 in one piece from a plastic, in which case two metal contact rails have to be incorporated in the area of the recess 21 in the form of a hammer head groove.

If a metallic bare profile rail is not acceptable for the sake of interior design, there is also the option of providing the respective profile half 18˝ to be fitted from the outside with a corresponding cover made of plastic, wood or the like during manufacture, the cover also being used as an ornamental strip can be trained. As shown in FIG. 6, such an ornamental strip 30 can also be retrofitted from the outside.

The profile rails 6 are expediently provided with plug contacts at least at one end, so that the electrical connection to the power supply, but also to a subsequent profile rail, can be made by simply plugging them together. Appropriate trained corner connectors are appropriate for the area of room corners.
