The spring 4 has the endeavor to hold the latch 11 in the position shown in FIG. 1. This can also be seen from FIG. 3, in which the pawl lies in the spread position on the other side of the toothed locking projection 12. When the legs 1 and 2 are pressed together, the leg 11a of the latch 11 slides over the teeth 12 and thus prevents the pliers from opening. Only when the arm 11a has been moved over the locking projection 12 in the course of the further closing movement of the pliers and has reached the position shown in FIG. 1, can the pliers be opened by a spreading movement of the handle ends 1b and 2b.

Durch weiteren Druck auf die Griffabschnitte 1b und 2b wird in Verbindung mit den Längsschlitzen 9 in den Schalen 1′ und 2′ eine hinreichende Federungswirkung erzielt, die es ermöglicht, die Griffabschnitte 1b und 2b unter Überwindung der Federungskräfte bis in die in Fig. 1 wiedergegebene Position zu bringen, in welcher die Sperrklinke 11 außer Eingriff mit dem gezahnten Rastvorsprung 12 gelangt. Claims (6)

  1. Crimping pliers for pressing conductor end sleeves, cable terminals and cable connectors onto electrical conductors, having continuous intersecting plier limbs made from flat spring steel, which are connected together at the point of intersection by way of a joint pin and the one limb of which consists of leaves arranged parallel at a spacing from one another, between which the other limb is held, the short ends of the limbs forming the clamping jaws and the longer ends forming the handle portions, and provided between the handle portions are a spring which spread these, a stop to limit the spreading movement as well as a detent device which consists of a serrated detent projection on the one limb and a detent pawl which is held in a spring-mounted and pivotable manner on the other limb, chacterised in that both limbs (1,2) of the pliers each consist of two identical leaves (1',2') arranged parallel to one another and in that the leaves in each case have an elongate slot (8) which starting from their jaw-end edge extends over the bore for the joint pin (3), the slots extending in the closed position of the pliers in alignment in the central longitudinal plane thereof.
  2. Crimping pliers according to claim 1, characterised in that the elongate slot (8) in the leaves (1',2') of the limbs (1,2) is widened as a groove in the region between the bore for the joint pin (3) and its end facing the handle portion (1b,2b) and is rounded at its end.
  3. Crimping pliers according to claim 2, characterised in that the widened region of the elongate slot (8) in the leaves (1'2') of the limbs (1,2) is formed as a slotted hole (9).
  4. Crimping pliers according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the spring-mounted detent pawl (11) is held between the leaves (2') of the one limb (2) which are arranged at a spacing from one another, and in that the spring (4) provided for spreading the limbs (1,2) is at the same time mounted as the spring for the detent pawl with one end on the detent pawl.
  5. Crimping pliers according to claim 4, characterised in that the spring (4) for spreading the limbs (1,2) is designed as a loop spring.
  6. Crimping pliers according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a stop which limits the spreading and pressing position of the limbs (1,2) is provided, close to the elongate slot (8), offset towards the handle portion (1b or 2b respectively) and is formed as a pin (15) which is held in a bore (15) of the one leaf pair (1') and engages in a slotted-hole recess (13) of the other leaf pair (2').
