Description

The invention relates to a device for cleaning glass sheets with at least one ribbon brush, which moves on its side facing the glass sheets to be cleaned with bristles lying against the glass sheet, from top to bottom, and with a conveying device for the transport of the substantially vertical glass sheets through the Contraption.

In such devices, as z. B. are known from DE-A-3 333 175, difficulties arise in the region of the upper horizontal edge of the glass panels to be cleaned. These difficulties arise because the bristles of the ribbon brush moving from top to bottom hit the upper edge and spring away from the glass sheet so that the top edge of the glass sheet is not cleaned. This strip, which has not been cleaned, can have a width of up to 6 cm at higher speeds (approximately 5 m / sec) of the belt brushes.

Due to the constant impact of the bristles on the upper horizontal edge of the glass sheet to be cleaned, the bristles of the ribbon brush are also subject to particularly high wear. It should be borne in mind that the broken edges of glass panels are very sharp, especially when thicker glass panels are involved, and that sharp-edged edges often protrude upwards.

A further disadvantage when using ribbon brushes for cleaning glass sheets arises when pairs of ribbon brushes lying opposite one another are used, since the bristles of the strands of the ribbon brushes facing the glass sheets to be cleaned interlock and when they hit the upper edge of the glass sheet to be cleaned again must be separated, which is particularly difficult because the bristles hit the upper edge of the glass sheet.

All of these problems occur particularly when using wider band brushes that can be up to 1 m wide and more.

The invention has for its object to develop a device of the type mentioned in such a way that tape brushes with longer bristles can be used without impairing the cleaning effect, which lie in the at least partially bent state on the surface of the glass sheet to be cleaned and on this in addition to the cleaning , preferably also exert a polishing effect.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the ribbon brush is provided with a guide element arranged directly above the upper edge of the glass sheet to be cleaned and inclined to the plane of the glass sheet, the lower edge of which is adjacent to the upper edge of the glass sheet in the plane of the surface facing the ribbon brush the glass panel is arranged.

By means of the inclined guide element proposed according to the invention, the bristles are gradually and gently moved into the plane of the surface of the glass sheet to be cleaned, ie. i. the side of the glass panel to be cleaned facing the ribbon brush is deflected. By using the guide element proposed according to the invention, in the area of the upper edge of the glass sheet there is no longer any area not covered by the bristles and the wear of the bristles by impacting them on the upper edge of the glass sheet is practically completely eliminated.

In the device according to the invention, longer and softer bristles can be used, which have a better and gentler cleaning effect than shorter and stiffer bristles.

It is advantageously provided in the context of the invention that the guide element is at least as wide as the band brush opposite it.

The bristles are deflected particularly gently into the plane of the glass plate facing the band brush if the guide element is convexly curved towards the band brush.

The adaptation of the guide element to the particular circumstances, taking into account the bristle rigidity and bristle length, is particularly simple if the inclination of the guide element to the plane of the glass panels to be cleaned can be changed by pivoting the guide element, the pivot axis preferably being provided in the region of the lower edge of the guide element.

In order to increase the service life of the guide element according to the invention and to reduce the friction of the bristles on it, it is recommended within the scope of the invention to provide the surface of the guide element facing the band brush with a friction-reducing surface coating, for example hard chrome plating.

In the context of the invention, an embodiment has proven itself in which the guide element is slidably mounted on a slide on vertical guides for delivery to the upper edge of the glass sheet to be cleaned and is coupled to a drive. This makes it possible to adapt the tail unit to glass panels of different heights by arranging the lower edge of the guide element directly above the upper edge of the glass panel.

To adapt to glass panels of different thicknesses, it can be provided within the scope of the invention that the guide element is preferably adjustable on its slide transversely to the conveying plane of the glass panel.

The delivery of the guide element immediately above the upper horizontal edge of the glass sheet to be cleaned is particularly simple if the drive for the vertical movement of the guide element is dependent on the height of the detected by a measuring element or a switch controlled glass panel to be cleaned. It is recommended if the switch or the measuring element for detecting the height of the glass sheet to be cleaned is rigidly connected to the guide element or its guide slide.

According to a preferred embodiment it is provided that at least one toothed belt, an endless chain or the like is provided as the drive for the vertical movements of the guide element, the strands of which are oriented substantially vertically and which, viewed in the conveying direction, is arranged in front of the guide element and that the upper edge of the glass pane-detecting switch or the measuring element on one of the runs of the toothed belt, the endless chain or the like. Or a connection between the carriage and the toothed belt or the like. Is arranged. This embodiment has the advantage that the size (height) of the glass sheet is detected before it reaches the area of the ribbon brush or the guide element arranged opposite it, so that it can be moved to the correct height before the glass sheet reaches the area the ribbon brush has reached.

For spatial reasons, it is advisable in the device according to the invention, provided two or more ribbon brushes are provided, to arrange the ribbon brushes acting on opposite surfaces of the glass panel to be cleaned, as well as the guide elements opposite each other, as seen in the conveying direction of the glass panel. This arrangement also has the advantage that the glass sheet, which is transported vertically upright through the device, can be guided by the narrow brush rollers arranged opposite one another.

Further details of the invention result from the following description of a preferred embodiment. It shows
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows a ribbon brush, the guide rollers arranged opposite this for a glass sheet and a guide element,
  • FIG. 2 shows a guide element on an enlarged scale,
  • Figure 3 largely schematic side view of a guide element and
  • Figure 4 is a top view of belt brushes and the guide elements assigned to them.

Before the embodiment is described in detail, it should be pointed out that the invention can be used for belt brushes in a wide variety of embodiments. Thus the invention, i. H. the guide element can be used in an embodiment in which the bristles are attached directly to a band-shaped carrier of the band brush. Another possibility for the formation of the band brushes is that the bristles are provided on strips connected to strips of the band brushes which may be strip-shaped. The bristles provided on the band brushes usually have a length of 3 to 8 cm, preferably 4 cm.

Although not shown in the drawings, the device according to the invention for cleaning glass panels has a housing in which inlet and outlet slots are provided with the corresponding seals, through which the glass panels can be conveyed into and out of the housing. In addition to the band brushes intended for cleaning, nozzles for applying detergents and / or nozzles for blowing off moisture from the cleaned glass plates can also be provided in the housing.

A band brush 1 shown in FIG. 1 consists of a carrier band 2 to which bristles 3 are attached. The carrier tape 2, which can be an endless plastic tape, for example, runs over a drive roller 4 and a deflection roller 5 in the direction of the arrows shown in FIG. The downward-moving strand of the ribbon brush 1 lies with its bristles 3 on the side of a glass panel 6 facing the ribbon brush 1, the bristles 3 (cf. FIG. 2) being at least partially bent and / or inclined.

The glass sheet 6 is supported at the bottom by a conveyor device 7, the conveyor device 7 being able to be designed, for example, as shown in FIG. 3. While the conveyor device 7 supports the glass sheet 6 from below and moves through the cleaning device, freely rotatable rollers 9 provided on a machine component 8 serve to support the glass sheet 6 on its side opposite the belt brush 1.

Within the ribbon brush 1, a sliding plate 10 is provided adjacent to the carrier tape 2, which has the purpose of guiding the ribbon brush 1 straight in the region of the glass panel 6 and pressing it against the glass panel 6.

Above the glass panel 6, a guide element 11 is indicated schematically in FIG. 1, which can be moved onto the upper edge 14 of the glass panel 6 by moving in the direction of the double arrows 12 and / or 13 such that the bristles 3, without the upper edge 14 or to touch the edge 16 of the glass sheet 6 which is located there and faces the band brush 1, and reach the surface 16 'of the glass sheet 6. This is shown in detail in Figure 2. From Figure 2 it can be seen that the guide element 11, which has a convexly curved shape, is arranged above the glass sheet 6 so that the lower horizontal edge 15 of the guide element 11 lying in the plane of the glass surface 16 'immediately above the edge 16 of the upper Edge 14 of the glass sheet 6 is arranged. In order to be able to move the guide element 11 into this position, it is guided over a slide 17 on vertical guides 18 and, with the aid of at least one pressure medium cylinder 19 in the direction of the double arrow 13, can be adjusted transversely to the plane of the glass panel 6 in such a way that its lower edge 15 is accurate comes to rest over the edge 16 of the glass sheet 6. In addition, the guide element 11 can be pivoted about an axis 20, which is arranged in the region of its lower edge 15, in the direction of the double arrow 21, for which purpose a pressure medium motor 22 is provided.

As can be seen from Figure 3, the carriage 17 of the guide element 11, which can be moved up and down on the guides 18 in the direction of the double arrow 12, is coupled to endless belts, toothed belts, chains or the like 23, by their actuation via one not Drive motor shown the carriage 17 and thus the guide element 11 can be raised or lowered. It can also be seen from FIG. 3 that a sensor 26 for detecting the upper edge 14 of the glass sheet 6 is provided on the connecting member 24 between the slide 17 and the front toothed belt 23 or the like seen in the conveying direction (arrow 25, FIG. 3). Triggered by this sensor 26, which can be designed as a non-contact responsive switch or roller switch, light barrier or the like, the toothed belts or the like 23 are actuated and the lower edge 15 of the guide element 11 is fed to the upper edge 14 of the glass sheet 6. A further sensor 28 can be provided on the connecting member 27, which detects when the glass sheet 6 has been moved out of the area of the guide element 11 or the band brush 1 opposite it, whereupon the guide element 11 can be raised, for example, to a starting position lying further up.

In this embodiment of a conveyor device 7 for glass sheets 6, an endlessly revolving conveyor belt is provided which, for example, is designed as a link chain 30 and is mounted on the driver 31 so as to be pivotable about essentially horizontal axes 32. The drivers 31 are pivoted by weight loading and / or by the action of springs 33 into a position in which their upper end 34 protrudes over the link chain 30. Between two adjacent drivers 31, for example, plastic supports 35 are provided, on which the lower edge 36 of the glass sheet 6 rests. The drivers 31 located in the area of a glass sheet 6 are pressed downward by the glass sheet 6, whereas the driver 31 assigned to the rear, vertical edge 37 of the glass sheet 6 is pivoted upward and abuts the edge 37 with its upper end 34.

In Figur 4 ist noch gezeigt, wie die Bandbürsten 2 in Förderrichtung (Pfeil 25) ebenso gegeneinander versetzt sind wie die ihnen jeweils gegenüberliegenden Leitelemente 11.FIG. 4 also shows how the belt brushes 2 are offset from one another in the conveying direction (arrow 25), as are the guide elements 11 opposite them.
