Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing membrane switches according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Known film switches are produced by applying conductor tracks and / or contact sections to flexible films in a layered construction. It is necessary for the individual switch components to be assigned to one another in such a way that when the switch is actuated, contact between conductor tracks is produced by deformation or by a relative movement of the switching element, and a current flow is thus made possible. Due to the large number of components, these switches are very complex and difficult to assemble, since many individual parts have to be positioned exactly with respect to one another and connected to one another.
- the present invention has for its object to improve a generic method for manufacturing membrane switches with a view to a reduction in parts and a more economical method of manufacture.
- the method according to the invention makes it possible to continuously manufacture film switches by means of an endless film strip. Characterized in that all conductor tracks or contact sections are applied side by side on one side of the film strip and this is then formed into a cavity, the switch consists of only one part, so that adjustment problems between several elements of the switch and their connection are eliminated.
- the simple construction enables cost-effective production even of very flat and narrow membrane switches and offers many design and adaptation options, which will be discussed later.
- the switch manufactured according to the new method not only enables economical production, but also guarantees an equally good or improved function compared to the known membrane switches. This enables the membrane switch to be actuated from different directions, ensures an automatic reset after the switching process and still prevents accidental switching due to the shape stability of the closed contour.
- a section of the flexible film having a conductor track or a contact section is deformed in such a way that electrical contact is established with a further conductor track which is arranged on an area of the film opposite this section.
- the film strip (for example thermally) is only preformed and not connected at its ends. This creates an open membrane switch, the ends of which do not touch when the switch is not actuated and mark the switching distance.
- the film strip is provided with predetermined kinks before its ends are connected, then a cross-section of the film switch that deviates from a flowing contour can be generated and an exact switching direction is forced.
- the film strip is provided with lateral notches before its ends are connected.
- the notches expediently comprise only the region of the film strip which deforms during the switching process. If the notches are made in a large number, but relatively narrow, the membrane switch produced in this way is very flexible overall, i. H. it can be attached to curved surfaces without loss of functionality. If the notches cut through a conductor track, a contact strip is formed with a large number of film switches connected in parallel, which are formed from only one film strip. This contact strip can be designed so that at least one switch is actuated when touched at any point and this signal can be evaluated.
- Such a contact tire can be used with advantage wherever a touch contact is to be detected at any point - for example as a pinch protection for vehicles equipped with electric window regulators.
- the switching forces can be varied over the bridge width and bridge length of the foil sections arranged between the cutouts.
- the notches are made wider and at a greater distance and, after the ends of the film strip have been connected, they are severed in the region of the notches, then individual switches are produced with an integrated supply line, the length of which is determined by the width of the notch.
- the depth of the notch is again chosen so that it encompasses the portion of the film strip that deforms during the switching process.
- the conductor tracks can be printed continuously on it in a manner known per se.
- the conductor tracks can be created in a variety of ways. So it is z. B. in addition to the printing of the films possible, for example, to use electrically conductive silicone for a switching bridge to be applied.
- a section of a film strip 15 shown in FIG. 1 is provided in a manner known per se with printed conductor tracks 17, 19 and 21.

- the ends 25 and 27 of the film strip 15 are connected to one another by a continuously produced adhesive.
- a cavity 29 is formed which carries the conductor tracks 17, 19 and 21 on its inside. If pressure is exerted on the membrane switch 23 straight or obliquely from above, the conductor track 21 comes into contact with the conductor tracks 17 and 19, as a result of which these are connected to one another in an electrically conductive manner.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing membrane switches according to the preamble of claim 1.
Known film switches are produced by applying conductor tracks and / or contact sections to flexible films in a layered construction.
The present invention has for its object to improve a generic method for manufacturing membrane switches with a view to a reduction in parts and a more economical method of manufacture.
The object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
The method according to the invention makes it possible to continuously manufacture film switches by means of an endless film strip. Characterized in that all conductor tracks or contact sections are applied side by side on one side of the film strip and this is then formed into a cavity, the switch consists of only one part, so that adjustment problems between several elements of the switch and their connection are eliminated. The simple construction enables cost-effective production even of very flat and narrow membrane switches and offers many design and adaptation options, which will be discussed later.
The switch manufactured according to the new method not only enables economical production, but also guarantees an equally good or improved function compared to the known membrane switches. This enables the membrane switch to be actuated from different directions, ensures an automatic reset after the switching process and still prevents accidental switching due to the shape stability of the closed contour.
When the film switch is actuated, a section of the flexible film having a conductor track or a contact section is deformed in such a way that electrical contact is established with a further conductor track which is arranged on an area of the film opposite this section. Through the choice of the material for the film strip and the cross-sectional shape of the film switch, the desired switching forces (switching feeling) can be generated with simple means and an adaptation to the respective purpose can be achieved.
In the case of a sufficiently rigid film, it is even conceivable that the film strip (for example thermally) is only preformed and not connected at its ends. This creates an open membrane switch, the ends of which do not touch when the switch is not actuated and mark the switching distance.
If the film strip is provided with predetermined kinks before its ends are connected, then a cross-section of the film switch that deviates from a flowing contour can be generated and an exact switching direction is forced.
It is particularly advantageous if the film strip is provided with lateral notches before its ends are connected. The notches expediently comprise only the region of the film strip which deforms during the switching process. Such a contact tire can be used with advantage wherever a touch contact is to be detected at any point - for example as a pinch protection for vehicles equipped with electric window regulators. Overall, with safe switching operation (even when the contact strip is bent around its longitudinal extent, no switch is switched through), small cross-sectional dimensions and small switching forces can be achieved. The switching forces can be varied over the bridge width and bridge length of the foil sections arranged between the cutouts.
If the notches are made wider and at a greater distance and, after the ends of the film strip have been connected, they are severed in the region of the notches, then individual switches are produced with an integrated supply line, the length of which is determined by the width of the notch. The depth of the notch is again chosen so that it encompasses the portion of the film strip that deforms during the switching process.
Regarding the method according to the invention, it should generally be noted that not only an endless film strip can be used, but also that the conductor tracks can be printed continuously on it in a manner known per se. In the same way it is also possible to create the predetermined kinks, the notches and the connection of the ends of the film strip. In addition to the possibility of providing predetermined kinks, certain sections of the film strip can also be preformed. It has been shown that continuous welding or gluing of the ends can be accomplished particularly efficiently. The conductor tracks can be created in a variety of ways. So it is z. B. in addition to the printing of the films possible, for example, to use electrically conductive silicone for a switching bridge to be applied.

A section of a
Der dadurch hergestellte Einzelschalter 31 (Fig. 9) weist integrierte Zuleitungen auf, welche durch Abschnitte der Leiterbahnen gebildet sind.FIGS. 6 to 9 identify the essential process sections for the production of
A film switch 45 shown in cross section in FIG. 10 is characterized by
Finally, FIG. 11 shows an embodiment in which
