Definitions
- the present invention relates to a racket for playing a ball game.
- rackets are already known, the shapes of which are adapted to the games and sports in which they are used.
- tennis rackets have a fairly elongated oval frame extended by a relatively long handle to allow the player, by extending the arm, to reach a ball as far as possible.
- the rackets used which are relatively light, consist of a cut plywood plate covered with foam rubber, this plate being extended by a relatively short handle.
- this racket for the practice of a ball game consisting of a single piece molded in rigid plastic manner comprising a frame across which extends a grid formed of rigid bars overlapping in two directions, and a handle of constant thickness, is characterized in that the width of the handle goes gradually decreasing from the frame to an intermediate zone of smaller width then increasing to the end of the handle , so as to define two opposite lateral walls in the shape of an arc with a concavity facing outwards, and in that a rubber handle of the same shape as the handle is fitted and held firmly on the handle.
- the racket according to the invention has the advantage that it makes it possible to obtain a very good grip in the hand and that this racket is prevented from turning even in the case of repeated intense strikes. Furthermore, the particular curved shape of the handle and of the handle which covers it prevents the hand from moving back and slipping out of the handle.
- the rubber handle is held in place on the plastic handle, without gluing, by means of hollow parts provided on the handle and / or on the handle and in which parts engage. in relief provided on the handle and / or on the handle.
- the racket according to the invention which is shown as a whole according to Figures 1 and 2, consists of a single piece molded in rigid plastic and comprising an oval frame 1 almost as wide as it is high, that is to say similar in shape to that of a circle, a grid 2 extending across the frame 1 and made up of strips of rigid plastic material intersecting and extending, parallel to each other in two directions, preferably perpendicular, and a handle 3.
- This handle 3 has a constant thickness but its width varies in the longitudinal direction.
- the width of the handle 3 decreases progressively from the end 3a of the handle 3 by which the latter is connected to the frame 1, to reach a minimum in an intermediate zone 3b from which this width increases gradually to the end wall 3c of the handle which is preferably arched and convex.
- the width of the end 3a adjacent to the frame 1 is greater than that of the opposite end 3c.
- the handle 3 is thus delimited by two opposite lateral walls 3d, 3e which each have a concavity facing outwards.
- each of these 3d and 3e walls is wavy, as can best be seen in FIG. 4.
- the handle 3 may advantageously have a cross section in the form of an I and which consists of a central core 3f connecting to the two opposite lateral walls 3d, 3e, which are perpendicular to the core 3f.
- the core 3f is integral, in its middle part, with a longitudinal reinforcing rib 3g, perpendicular to the core 3f and which extends, symmetrically on both sides of the core 3f, from the frame 1 to the arched wall 3c constituting the end of the handle 3.
- the handle 3 may also include other auxiliary reinforcing ribs perpendicular to the core 3f and arranged, on each side of this core, between the longitudinal longitudinal rib 3g and the lateral walls 3d, 3e.
- the handle 3 comprises, on each side of the core 3f, two auxiliary ribs 3h starting from the frame 1 and extending, in an arcuate shape, in the direction of the zone intermediate 3b of the handle, between the middle rib 3g and the side walls 3d, 3e.
- two other reinforcing ribs 3i extend from the end wall 3c over a certain length in the direction of the intermediate zone 3b of the handle.
- the handle 3 thus has, as a whole, a symmetrical shape with respect to two perpendicular planes, namely the plane of the core 3f and the plane of the central rib 3g.
- the handle 3 of rigid plastic material is capped with a rubber handle 4, which has the same shape as the handle 3.
- this handle 4 which is hollow, is made up two planar upper 4a and lower 4b walls and two side walls 4c, 4d perpendicular to the previous ones.
- the side walls 4c, 4d of the handle 4 have the same arcuate shape as the side walls 3d, 3e of the handle.
- the aforementioned four walls 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d are adjacent to an end wall 4e which is arched and which has the same radius of curvature as that of the end wall 3c of the handle 3 in order to be able to come to be pressed against the latter.
- the four walls of the handle 4 delimit an opening making it possible to thread this handle 4 onto the handle 3.
- the handle 4 is threaded onto the handle 3, thanks to its elasticity, it is held firmly in place as a result of the engagement of projecting parts provided on the handle 3 (or the handle 4) in hollow parts provided on handle 4 (or handle 3).
- each of these upper 4a and lower 4b walls of the handle 4 each have, on their internal face, a groove 4g extending longitudinally in the median plane of symmetry and into which the end of the central longitudinal rib 3g of the handle 3 engages. Furthermore, in the region close to the open end of the handle 4, each of these upper 4a and lower 4b walls also has parts in hollows 4h, arranged symmetrically on either side of the central longitudinal groove 4g and into which engage, along the edges of these hollow parts 4h, the auxiliary reinforcement ribs 3h of the handle 3.
- the upper 4a and lower 4b walls of the handle 4 also have, on their internal faces, bosses 4i close to the open end and to the end wall 4e, these bosses 4i coming to engage in the spaces delimited between the side walls arched 3d, 3e and the auxiliary reinforcement ribs 3h of the handle 3. These bosses 4i contribute, together with the grooves 4g, to firmly hold the attached rubber handle 4 on the handle 3 of rigid plastic material.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a racket for playing a ball game.
Various types of rackets are already known, the shapes of which are adapted to the games and sports in which they are used. For example, tennis rackets have a fairly elongated oval frame extended by a relatively long handle to allow the player, by extending the arm, to reach a ball as far as possible. In the case of table tennis, the rackets used, which are relatively light, consist of a cut plywood plate covered with foam rubber, this plate being extended by a relatively short handle.
Despite the great variety of rackets known to date, the design of a special racket has become necessary for the new ball games currently under development because all existing rackets do not adapt to these new games and prevent reaching desired performance. Indeed in this new sport which uses a ball connected by a non-elastic link to a post resting or fixed on the ground, the individual player must give the greatest number of shots possible on the ball, in a short and determined time. Therefore, the ball being struck with force and returning with force, it is necessary that the lever arm of the racket is short and that the grip of the hand is close enough to the center of the racket where the ball hits otherwise the handle spin in the hand and you can't play fast. Furthermore, with such a type of game, since it is a question of developing a significant force in a minimum time, it is necessary that the grip of the hand on the handle of the racket is as strong as possible. Consequently, all the rackets known to date are not suitable and the present invention aims to provide a racket particularly suitable for this game.
To this end, this racket for the practice of a ball game, consisting of a single piece molded in rigid plastic manner comprising a frame across which extends a grid formed of rigid bars overlapping in two directions, and a handle of constant thickness, is characterized in that the width of the handle goes gradually decreasing from the frame to an intermediate zone of smaller width then increasing to the end of the handle , so as to define two opposite lateral walls in the shape of an arc with a concavity facing outwards, and in that a rubber handle of the same shape as the handle is fitted and held firmly on the handle.
The racket according to the invention has the advantage that it makes it possible to obtain a very good grip in the hand and that this racket is prevented from turning even in the case of repeated intense strikes. Furthermore, the particular curved shape of the handle and of the handle which covers it prevents the hand from moving back and slipping out of the handle.
According to an additional characteristic of the invention, the rubber handle is held in place on the plastic handle, without gluing, by means of hollow parts provided on the handle and / or on the handle and in which parts engage. in relief provided on the handle and / or on the handle. This assembly without gluing of the handle on the handle avoids the drawbacks encountered with tennis rackets, namely the possibility of appearing displacements or tears of the lining attached to the handle of the racket.
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of a racket according to the invention.
- FIG. 2 is a profile view of the racket of FIG. 1.
- Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line III-III of Figure 1.
- Figure 4 is an elevational view, on a larger scale, of the plastic handle without the rubber handle.
- Figure 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of the rubber handle separated from the plastic handle.
The racket according to the invention which is shown as a whole according to Figures 1 and 2, consists of a single piece molded in rigid plastic and comprising an
The
To perfect the grip of the racket in the hand, the
We see for example in the drawing that the two upper 4a and lower 4b walls of the
The upper 4a and lower 4b walls of the
