Description

Process for improving the non-cutting deformation of workpieces from iron and zinc The invention relates to a method for improving the non-cutting Shaping iron and zinc and consists in that the workpieces to be deformed initially by treatment with phosphating baths which contain oxidizing agents, a capillary-active, absorbent phosphate layer is imparted. Following this should then the metal provided with such a layer with the addition of lubricants, such as oils, fats or soaps, cold forming, e.g. B. by pulling, subjected will. In the execution of the method, the procedure is that the to be deformed Workpieces are subjected to phosphating similar to how they are subjected to Applying anti-rust process. Here a z. B. manganese, zinc or iron phosphate containing bath brought to the appropriate temperature just below the boiling point and immersed the objects therein until the capillary-active absorbent Phosphate layer has formed on the surfaces in the desired thickness. One A special feature of the method according to the invention is that additives are added to the phosphate bath to do with oxidizing agents, especially with nitrates.

It has been found that the formation of a suitable for the invention Surface layer, especially with the help of such methods, is particularly beneficial for the later cold deformation is. The articles so treated are then washed and dried and finally, e.g. B. by drawing, cold formed, the usual lubricants must also be used.

It has already been proposed that metals such. B. with an oxide skin are provided to be cold deformed. Here, however, the opinion was decisive that the crystals that have grown in on the surface of the treated 'block' used directly as a lubricant. What is new, however, is the idea of going through the shift to train the choice of the above agent so that they can be in the shortest possible time and capillary-active arises, so that the usual drawing means used in combination herewith anchor oneself in it, as it were.

There is still a particular advantage of the method according to the invention in that even low-alloy steels, such as those commonly used in the manufacture of Sleeves and steel bottles are used, work well cold, d. H. deep drawing when treated according to the method of the invention.

An example of the implementation of the method is described below.
