Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Beleuchtungssystem mit mindestens zwei Licht emittierenden Dioden, wobei jede der Licht emittierenden Dioden bei Betrieb sichtbares Licht in einem vorgewählten Wellenlängenbereich emittiert.
- Beleuchtungssysteme auf der Basis Licht emittierender Dioden (LEDs) werden als Quelle von weißem Licht für allgemeine Beleuchtungszwecke eingesetzt.
- Ein Beleuchtungssystem der eingangs erwähnten Art ist bekannt. In den letzten Jahren wurden, abgesehen von roten, Licht emittierenden Dioden auf GaP-Basis, ebenfalls leistungsfähige, blaue, Licht emittierende Dioden sowie grüne, Licht emittierende Dioden auf GaN-Basis entwickelt. Zur Erzeugung von weißem Licht sind im Grunde drei LEDs, nämlich eine blaue, eine grüne und eine rote LED, als Primarlichtquelle erforderlich.
- Ein Nachteil solcher Beleuchtungssysteme ist, dass eine Kombination aus drei LEDs als Primärlichtquelle nicht immer zu der gewünschten Farbwiedergabe führt, was der Tatsache zugeschrieben werden kann, dass LEDs mit spektralen Maxima in den gewünschten Spektralbereichen, die gleichzeitig ausreichend energieeffizient sind, nicht verfügbar oder knapp sind.
- Der Erfindung liegt als Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Beleuchtungssystem der eingangs beschriebenen Art vorzusehen, welches eine verbesserte Farbwiedergabe aufweist. Weiterhin liegt der Erfindung als Aufgabe zugrunde, die effektive Lichtleistung des Beleuchtungssystems zu verbessern.
- Zur Lösung dieser Aufgaben ist das erfindungsgemäße Beleuchtungssystem der eingangs erwähnten Art dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass dieses Umwandlungsmittel umfasst, um einen Teil des von einer der Licht emittierenden Dioden emittierten, sichtbaren Lichts zur Optimierung der Farbwiedergabe des Beleuchtungssystems in sichtbares Licht in einem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich umzuwandeln.
- Die Umwandlungsmittel werden durch, von einer der mindestens zwei LEDs ausgehendem Licht angeregt. Ein Teil dieses Lichts wird durch die Umwandlungsmittel, zum Beispiel durch einen Absorptionsvorgang und Emission, in sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich umgewandelt. Dieses resultiert in einem Beleuchtungssys tem, welches in der Tat drei Lichtquellen, nämlich zwei Primärlichtquellen, die durch die mindestens zwei LEDs gebildet werden, wobei die Primärlichtquellen jeweils sichtbares Licht in einem vorgewählten Wellenlängenbereich emittieren, sowie eine so genannte Sekundärlichtquelle, die sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich emittiert, aufweist. Durch eine geeignete Wahl der Wellenlängenbereiche, in denen diese beiden Primärlichtquellen und die Sekundärlichtquelle sichtbares Licht emittieren, wird, gegenüber einem, auf den beiden Primärlichtquellen basierenden Beleuchtungssystem, ein Beleuchtungssystem mit einer verbesserten Farbwiedergabe vorgesehen. Da der Einsatz einer dritten Primarlichtquelle (zum Beispiel einer grünen LED oder einer roten LED) vermieden wird, wird eine verbesserte Farbwiedergabe des Beleuchtungssystems erreicht.
- Vorzugsweise enthalten die Umwandlungsmittel ein lumineszierendes Material. Solche Materialien sind sehr geeignet, da sie im Allgemeinen eine hohe Quantenausbeute und ein hohes Lumenäquivalent (ausgedrückt in lm/W) aufweisen, so dass eine hohe, effektive Lichtleistung des Beleuchtungssystems erreicht wird. Darüber hinaus sind viele Varianten (stabiler) anorganischer und organischer, lumineszierender Materialien (Leuchtstoffe) bekannt, so dass die Wahl eines Materials zur Erreichung des erfindungsgemäßen Ziels (Verbesserung der Farbwiedergabe) vereinfacht wird.
- Die Farbwiedergabe des Beleuchtungssystems kann auf zwei Weisen beeinflusst werden. Zum einen wird die räumliche Farbwiedergabe durch optimales Mischen des von den LEDs und den Umwandlungsmitteln ausgehenden Lichts verbessert. Zum anderen wird die Farbwiedergabe durch Ergreifen von Maßnahmen verbessert, die sicherstellen, dass die Lichtausbeute der LEDs zeitunabhängig ist. Eine solche Abhängigkeit wird zum Beispiel erreicht, wenn sich die Lichtausbeute einer LED als eine Funktion der Temperatur der LED verändert. In diesem Fall hat die Verwendung von temperaturunabhängigen LEDs Vorteile.
- Gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung kann das lumineszierende Material vorzugsweise durch, von dem Wellenbereich von 400 bis 500 nm ausgehendem Licht angeregt werden. Aufgrund dieser Empfindlichkeit ist das lumineszierende Material sehr geeignet, um insbesondere blaues Licht zu absorbieren. Dieses absorbierte Licht wird durch das lumineszierende Material effektiv in sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich, zum Beispiel grünes Licht, umgewandelt.
- Geeignete lumineszierende Materialien sind (Sr, Ca)2SiO4:Eu2+, Ba2SiO4:Eu2+, SrGa2S4, ZnS:Cu+, ZnS:Au+, ZnS:Al3+, (Zn, Cd)S:Ag+ und CaS:Ce3+. Diese Materialien haben bei 450 nm eine relativ hohe Quantenausbeute und Lichtabsorption. Sie weisen weiterhin ein relativ hohes Lumenäquivalent auf, wenn blaues Licht in das gewünschte, grüne Licht umgewandelt wird.
- Ein sehr attraktives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die beiden Licht emittierenden Dioden zumindest eine blaue, Licht emittierende Diode und zumindest eine rote, Licht emittierende Diode aufweisen, und dass die Umwandlungsmittel ein (grünes, Licht emittierendes) lumineszierendes Material zur Umwandlung eines Teils des von der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode emittierten Lichts in grünes Licht enthalten. Auf diese Weise wird ein Beleuchtungssystem gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung vorgesehen, welches weißes Licht mit einem hohen Farbwiedergabeindex auf der Basis von drei Grundfarben (Rot, Blau und Grün) emittiert, wobei lediglich zwei Primärlichtquellen, nämlich blaues und rotes Licht, verwendet werden und grünes Licht durch Umwandlung eines Teils des blauen Lichts erhalten wird. Vorzugsweise liegt das Maximum der spektralen Emission der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 460 bis 490 nm, das Maximum der spektralen Emission der roten, Licht emittierenden Diode in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 610 bis 630 nm und das Maximum der spektralen Emission des (grünen, Licht emittierenden) lumineszierenden Materials in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 510 bis 530 nm.
- Gemäß einem zweiten Aspekt der Erfindung kann das lumineszierende Material vorzugsweise durch, von dem Wellenlängenbereich von 500 bis 560 nm ausgehendem Licht angeregt werden. Aufgrund dieser Empfindlichkeit ist das lumineszierende Material sehr geeignet, um insbesondere grünes Licht zu absorbieren. Dieses absorbierte Licht wird durch das lumineszierende Material sehr effektiv in sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich, zum Beispiel rotes Licht, umgewandelt.
- Geeignete lumineszierende Materialien sind CaS:Eu,Mn; CaS:Eu; SrS:Eu; (Zn, Cd)S:Ag; SrO:Eu; Sr3B2O6:Eu; Sr2Mg(BO3)2; CaS:Eu, Mn; CaS:Eu oder SrS:Eu. Diese Materialien haben eine relativ hohe Quantenausbeute und Lichtabsorption. Sie weisen weiterhin ein relativ hohes Lumenäquivalent auf, wenn blaues Licht oder grünes Licht in das gewünschte, rote Licht umgewandelt wird.
- Ein sehr attraktives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem zweiten Aspekt der Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die beiden Licht emittierenden Dioden zumindest eine blaue, Licht emittierende Diode und zumindest eine grüne, Licht emittierende Diode umfassen, und dass die Umwandlungsmittel ein lumineszierendes Material enthalten, um einen Teil des von der blauen und/oder grünen, Licht emittierenden Diode emittierten Lichts in rotes Licht umzuwandeln. Ein wichtiger Vorteil der Verwendung der blauen und grünen LEDs als Primärlichtquelle ist, dass beide Diodenchips unter Anwendung der an sich bekannten GaN-Technik hergestellt werden können. Im Gegensatz zu roten GaP-Diodenchips sind solche blauen und grünen GaN-Diodenchips nicht temperaturabhängig, so dass auf den Einsatz relativ teurer Elektronik zum Ausgleich der Temperaturabhängigkeit solcher Diodenchips verzichtet werden kann. Ein weiterer Vorteil liegt darin, dass die blauen und grünen GaN-Diodenchips auf der gleichen Seite kontaktiert werden können, so dass diese leicht in Reihe angeordnet werden können. Die Verwendung eines, rotes Licht emittierenden, grün angeregten, lumineszierenden Materials hat gegenüber einem, rotes Licht emittierenden, blau angeregten, lumineszierenden Material den zusätzlichen Vorteil, dass das Quantendefizit geringer ist. Vorzugsweise liegt das Maximum der spektralen Emission der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 460 bis 490 nm, das Maximum der spektralen Emission der grünen, Licht emittierenden Diode in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 510 bis 550 nm und das Maximum der spektralen Emission des roten, Licht emittierenden, lumineszierenden Materials in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 610 bis 630 nm.
- Der Farbwiedergabeindex (Ra) des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem ersten und einem zweiten Aspekt der Erfindung ist vorzugsweise gleich oder größer als 80 (Ra ≥ 80). Durch eine geeignete Kombination der spektralen Emissionen von zwei Primärlichtquellen, welche durch die mindestens zwei LEDs gebildet werden, und der spektralen Emission einer so genannten Sekundärlichtquelle, welche nach Umwandlung durch die Umwandlungsmittel sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich emittiert, wird ein Beleuchtungssystem mit einem hohen Farbwiedergabeindex erhalten.
- Ein Punkt besonderen Interesses in dem Beleuchtungssystem gemäß der Erfindung ist, dass bei Mischen von, von LEDs ausgehendem Licht mit, von den Umwandlungsmitteln ausgehendem Licht die Richtungsabhängigkeit von, von LEDs ausgehendem Licht (Primärlichtquellen) von der Richtungsabhängigkeit von, von den Umwandlungsmitteln ausgehendem Licht (Sekundärlichtquelle) abweichen kann. Im Allgemeinen emittieren LEDs stark gerichtetes Licht, während die Umwandlungsmittel, in diesem Fall das lumineszierende Material, (diffuses) Licht gemäß einem Lambertstrahler emittieren.
- Weiterhin ist es das Ziel der Erfindung, das Mischen von Licht durch das Beleuchtungssystem zu verbessern. Um dieses zu erreichen, ist ein alternatives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß der Erfindung dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Beleuchtungssystem weiterhin mit Reflexionsmitteln versehen wird. Die LEDs sind in dem Beleuchtungssystem so vorgesehen, dass ein wesentlicher Teil des von den LEDs ausgehenden Lichts aus dem Beleuchtungssystem nicht direkt austreten kann, sondern stattdessen auf die Reflexionsmittel auffällt. Ein Vorteil der Verwendung von Reflexionsmitteln ist, dass das von den beiden Primärlichtquellen (den blauen und roten LEDs oder den blauen und grünen LEDs) ausgehende Licht und das von den Umwandlungsmitteln ausgehende, sekundäre (grüne und rote) Licht gemischt wird. Die Reflexionsmittel sind vorzugsweise diffus reflektierende Reflexionsmittel. Durch Lenken des von den LEDs ausgehenden Lichts auf die diffus reflektierenden Reflexionsmittel nimmt das reflektierte Licht ebenfalls die Eigenschaften eines Lambertstrahlers an. Dieses resultiert in einer weiteren Verbesserung der Mischung der verschiedenen Farbkomponenten und folglich der Farbwiedergabe des Beleuchtungssystems. Des Weiteren wird das Licht vorzugsweise ohne Änderung der Farbwiedergabe durch die Reflexionsmittel reflektiert (Weiß reflektierende Reflexionsmittel). Auf diese Weise werden unerwünschte Farbabweichungen des von dem Beleuchtungssystem emittierten Lichts ausgeschlossen. Vorzugsweise enthalten die diffus reflektierenden Reflexionsmittel ein Material, welches aus der durch BaSO4, ZnS, ZnO und TiO2 gebildeten Gruppe gewählt wird. Solche Materialien sind sehr geeignet, da deren Reflexionskoeffizient in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 400 bis 800 nm über 98% beträgt und sie das Licht diffus und wellenlängenunabhängig reflektieren.
- Ein attraktives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß der Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Umwandlungsmittel in oder auf den diffus reflektierenden Reflexionsmitteln vorgesehen sind. Auf diese Weise wird das von den LEDs ausgehende Licht effektiv gemischt, erhält die gewünschte Richtungscharakteristik, und die Umwandlungsmittel empfangen zusätzlich ausreichendes, geeignetes Licht zur Umwandlung in sichtbares Licht in dem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich, wobei das umgewandelte Licht die gleiche Richtungscharakteristik wie das diffus reflektierte Licht der LEDs aufweist.
- Das Mischen von Farben und/oder die Richtungscharakteristik des emittierten Lichts können/kann auf alternative Weise verbessert werden, indem die LEDs mit einer relativ dünnen Schicht aus dem lumineszierenden Material bedeckt werden, wobei Teilchen in dem lumineszierenden Material als Diffusor wirken.
- Weiterhin ist es wünschenswert, dass die Farbtemperatur des Beleuchtungssystems variabel ist. Ein alternatives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß der Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Farbtemperatur des Beleuchtungssystems durch separate Ansteuerung der Licht emittierenden Dioden eingestellt werden kann. Die Farbtemperatur ist durch separate Ansteuerung der LEDs (elektrisch) einstellbar. Ein geeignetes Ausführungsbeispiel eines solchen Einstellelements sieht eine erste Diodenkette aus roten und blauen LEDs und eine zweite Diodenkette aus ausschließlich blauen (oder ausschließlich roten) LEDs vor. Ein weiteres geeignetes Ausführungsbeispiel eines solchen Einstellelements sieht eine erste Diodenkette aus blauen und grünen LEDs und eine zweite Diodenkette aus ausschließlich blauen (oder ausschließlich grünen) LEDs vor. Infolgedessen wird ein einstellbarer Farbtemperaturbereich von 2000 bis 6300 K erreicht. Die Farbtemperatureinstellung wird teilweise durch die Menge des lumineszierenden Materials (Umwandlungsmittel) bestimmt.

1A zeigt einen Teilquerriss und eine Seitenansicht eines Ausführungsbeispiels des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung. Ein Beleuchtungssystem1 umfasst ein Gehäuse2 , in dem die Steuerelektronik (in1A nicht dargestellt) für die Licht emittierenden Dioden (LEDs) und ein Schirm3 untergebracht sind. In diesem Beispiel ist das Gehäuse mit einem so genannten E27 Lampensockel4 mit mechanischen und elektrischen Kontaktmitteln versehen, die an sich bekannt sind. Auf einer von dem Lampensockel4 abgewandten Seite des Beleuchtungssystems1 befindet sich eine Fassung5 , auf der eine Anzahl LEDs6 ,6' ....;7 ,7' ....;8 ,8' .... vorgesehen sind. Die LEDs6 ,6' ....;7 ,7' .... umfassen eine Gruppe von blauen LEDs6 ,6' .... (Maximum der spektralen Emission liegt in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 430 bis 490 nm) und roten LEDs7 ,7' .... (Maximum der spektralen Emission liegt in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 590 bis 630 nm), wobei die LEDs6 ,6' ...;7 ,7' ... so angeordnet sind, dass das Licht, welches diese emittieren, zu dem Schirm3 hin gerichtet wird.1B zeigt sehr schematisch ein Beispiel einer schematischen, kreisförmigen Anordnung der LEDs6 ,6' ...;7 ,7' ... (durch die Linie I-I in1A im Schnitt dargestellt). Auf einer den LEDs6 ,6' ...;7 ,7' ... zugewandten Seite ist der Schirm3 mit (diffus reflektierenden) Reflexionsmitteln9 und Umwandlungsmitteln10 versehen. In diesem Beispiel weisen die Reflexionsmittel9 eine Schicht aus BaSO4 auf, welches einen (diffusen) Reflexionskoeffizienten von mindestens im Wesentlichen 100% für sichtbares Licht aufweist. Die Umwandlungsmittel10 enthalten vorzugsweise ein lumineszierendes Material (Leuchtstoff), welches die Eigenschaft hat, von den blauen LEDs6 ,6' ... ausgehendes, blaues Licht (400–480 nm) in grünes Licht in dem gewünschten, weiteren Wellenlängenbereich (530–565 nm) umzuwandeln. Die Umwandlungsmittel10 wandeln von einer der Licht emittierenden Dioden emittiertes, sichtbares Licht in sichtbares Licht in einem Bereich mit einer längeren Wellenlänge um. Eine Gruppe von geeigneten, lumineszierenden Materialien ist in Tabelle I dargestellt, wobei für jedes der Materialien die Quantenausbeute bei 450 nm (QE450), der Absorptionskoeffizient bei 450 nm (Abs450) und das Lumenäquivalent (LE) angegeben sind. - Tabelle I
- Lumineszierende Materialien (so genannte grüne Emitter) eignen sich zur Verwendung als Umwandlungsmittel für das Beleuchtungssystem gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung.

3 vorzugsweise so ausgeführt und angeordnet, dass, je nach dem Reflexionsgrad des lumineszierenden Materials, lediglich eine Reflexion auftritt bzw. eine Anzahl Reflexionen auftreten. Weiterhin ist es wünschenswert, dass das lumineszierende Material das Licht der roten LEDs zumindest im Wesentlichen vollständig reflektiert. Das Licht der roten und blauen LEDs wird von den Reflexionsmitteln9 effektiv gemischt, wobei die roten und blauen LEDs6 ,6' ...;7 ,7' ... gegenüber dem Schirm3 so positioniert sind, dass diese LEDs ihr Licht nicht direkt in einer Richtung11 des von dem Beleuchtungssystem1 emittierten Lichts emittieren, sondern dass deren Lichtstrom so zu einer Innenseite des Schirms4 geleitet wird, dass lediglich reflektiertes Licht in der Richtung11 emittiert wird. - Die roten und blauen LEDs können getrennt angesteuert werden; somit kann die Farbtemperatur des Beleuchtungssystems
1 variiert und den Anforderungen entsprechend eingestellt werden. Ein Beispiel hiervon ist die Anwendung einer Diodenkette mit roten und blauen LEDs sowie einer weiteren Diodenkette mit ausschließlich blauen LEDs (s. auch4 ). Durch diese Anordnung von LEDs kann der Teil von rotem Licht in der Primarlichtquelle variiert werden. Da das Verhältnis der blauen Emission gegenüber der grünen Emission bei einer solchen Anordnung von LEDs [die blauen LEDs6 ,6' ... werden direkt auf die Schicht mit lumineszierendem Material (Ba2SiO4:Eu2+) gerichtet] festgelegt ist, enthält das Beispiel von1A ebenfalls eine Anzahl von weiteren blauen LEDs8 ,8' ..., welche in der Richtung11 des von dem Beleuchtungssystem1 emittierten Lichts sehr diffus emittieren. Durch diese Maßnahme kann der rote und blaue Teil in dem von dem Beleuchtungssystem1 emittierten, weißen Licht getrennt variiert werden. Dieses resultiert in einer zusätzlichen Einstellungsmöglichkeit zur Einstellung des Verhältnisses von primärem, rotem und blauem Licht und sekundärem, grünem Licht; damit ist das Beleuchtungssystem1 mit einer einstellbaren Farbtemperatur versehen. - Tabelle I zeigt beispielsweise ein Beleuchtungssystem gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung mit:
- – blauen GaN-LEDs (Fabrikat Nichia) mit einem Emissionsmaximum bei 470 nm, FWHM = 20 nm;
- – roten GaP-LEDs (Fabrikat Hewlett Packard) mit einem Emissionsmaximum bei 620 nm, FWHM = 20 nm, wobei zwei bis vier blaue LEDs für jede rote LED verwendet werden;
- – sowie Umwandlungsmitteln mit einer Schicht aus Ba2SiO4:Eu2+.
- In Spalte 1 von Tabelle II sind verschiedene, wünschenswerte Werte für die Farbtemperatur (Tc) aufgelistet. In den Spalten 2, 3 und 4 von Tabelle II sind die spektralen Beiträge (x) der drei Lichtkomponenten aufgelistet (Summe der drei spektralen Beiträge x beträgt 1). In Spalte 5 von Tabelle II ist der Farbwiedergabeindex (Ra) und in Spalte 6 die effektive Lichtleistung (lum. eff.) des Beleuchtungssystems aufgelistet. Tabelle II zeigt, dass das Verhältnis von grünem Licht (Spalte 3) bei den verschiedenen Farbtemperaturen relativ wenig variiert. Die Farbtemperatur des Beleuchtungssystems kann in einem sehr großen Bereich leicht eingestellt werden, indem lediglich die Verteilung der Primärlichtquellen (des blauen und roten Lichts) verändert wird.
- Gemäß der Maßnahme der Erfindung wird auf diese Weise ein Beleuchtungssystem mit einer relativ hohen Farbwiedergabe (80 ≤ Ra ≤ 90) vorgesehen.

2 zeigt das Transmissionsspektrum eines Ausführungsbeispiels des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß der Erfindung. Die Transmission T (beliebige Einheiten) ist als eine Funktion der Wellenlänge λ (nm) von sichtbarem Licht für eine Kombination aus blauen und roten LEDs und Ba2SiO4:Eu2+ als lumineszierendes Material bei einer Farbtemperatur Tc = 4000 K dargestellt (das Spektrum in2 entspricht den Daten in Spalte 4 von Tabelle II). In2 ist das spektrale Maximum der blauen LEDs durch (a) angegeben und entspricht einer Wellenlänge von 470 nm, während das spektrale Maximum der roten LEDs durch (b) angegeben ist und einer Wellenlänge von 620 nm entspricht. Des Weiteren ist in2 das spektrale Maximum des von dem lumineszierenden Material emittierten Lichts durch (c) angegeben und entspricht einer Wellenlänge von 550 nm. - Eine weitere Verbesserung des Farbwiedergabeindex (Ra) gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung wird erreicht, indem nicht nur rote und blaue LEDs als Primärlichtquellen eingesetzt werden, sondern zum Beispiel eine Kombination aus 4 verschiedenen LEDs verwendet wird. Ein besonders geeignetes Beleuchtungssystem gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung umfasst:
- – blaue GaN-LEDs (Fabrikat Nichia): Emissionsmaximum: 470 nm, FWHM = 20 nm;
- – blau-grüne GaN-LEDs (Fabrikat Nichia): Emissionsmaximum: 520 nm, FWHM = 40 nm;
- – gelbe GaP-LEDs (Fabrikat Hewlett Packard): Emissionsmaximum: 590 nm, FWHM = 20 nm;
- – rote GaP-LEDs (Fabrikat Hewlett Packard): Emissionsmaximum: 620 nm, FWHM=20 nm;
- – sowie Umwandlungsmittel mit einer Schicht aus Ba2SiO4:Eu2+.
- Ein Beleuchtungssystem mit einer solchen Kombination aus vier Licht emittierenden Dioden und den Umwandlungsmitteln gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung weist einen Farbwiedergabeindex auf, welcher gegenüber den verschiedenen, in Tabelle II aufgeführten Farbtemperaturen mindestens 10 Punkte höher als im Falle einer Kombination aus zwei Dioden (Ra ≥ 90) ist. Ein solches Beleuchtungssystem besitzt eine effektive Lichtleistung über 20 lm/W. Zum Vergleich hat eine typische 100 W Glühlampe eine effektive Lichtleistung von 14 lm/W (Farbtemperatur 2800 K, Farbwiedergabeindex 100), eine 500 W Halogenglühlampe eine effektive Lichtleistung von etwa 19 lm/W (Farbtemperatur 3000 K, Farbwiedergabeindex 100), während eine 36 W Fluoreszenzlampe eine effektive Lichtleistung von etwa 90 lm/W (Farbtemperatur 4000 K, Farbwiedergabeindex 85) aufweist. Eine weitere Verbesserung der Farbwiedergabe des Beleuchtungssystems wird durch Verwendung tiefroter LEDs mit einem spektralen Emissionsmaximum in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 620 bis 670 nm erreicht.

3A zeigt ein alternatives Ausführungsbeispiel des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem ersten Aspekt der Erfindung.3B zeigt einen Querriss einer Seitenansicht des in3A dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiels. Das Beleuchtungssystem101 umfasst ein Gehäuse102 und einen Schirm103 . Dieses Beispiel schließt einen Öffnungswinkel a ein, in dem Licht aus dem Beleuchtungssystem101 in einer Richtung111 austritt, wobei dieser Winkel mit Hilfe von Einstellschrauben113 ,113' variiert werden kann. Zu diesem Zweck ist der Schirm mit Einstellplatten114 ,114' mit länglichen oder rillenförmigen Öffnungen115 ,115' versehen. In dem in3A dargestellten Beispiel entspricht der Öffnungswinkel α 40°. Das Beleuchtungssystem101 weist eine Fassung105 auf, auf welcher eine Anzahl LEDs106 ,106' , ...;107 ,107' , ...;108 ,108' , ... vorgesehen ist. Die LEDs106 ,106' , ...;107 ,107' , ... umfassen eine Gruppe aus abwechselnd blauen LEDs106 ,106' , ... (spektrale Emission 430 ≤ λ ≤ 490 nm) und roten LEDs107 ,107' , ... (spektrale Emission 590 ≤ λ ≤ 630 nm), wobei die LEDs106 ,106' , ...;107 ,107' , ... so angeordnet sind, dass das Licht, welches diese emittieren, zu dem Schirm103 hin gelenkt wird (die Richtung des Lichts ist durch die punktierten, horizontalen Lichtstrahlen in3A schematisch dargestellt). In diesem Beispiel umfasst ein Teil103' des Schirms103 einen Aluminiumreflektor, der mit Reflexionsmitteln, zum Beispiel einer Schicht aus einem weißen Pigment, wie z. B. BaSO4, bedeckt sein kann oder nicht. Der Schirm103 ist auf einer den LEDs106 ,106' , ...;107 ,107' , .... zugewandten Seite weiterhin mit einer Mischung aus Reflexionsmitteln109 (BaSO4) und Umwandlungsmitteln110 versehen, wobei die Umwandlungsmittel vorzugsweise ein lumineszierendes Material mit der Eigenschaft enthalten, blaues Licht (400–480 nm) in grünes Licht (530–565 nm) umzuwandeln. Eine Gruppe von geeigneten, lumineszierenden Materialien ist in Tabelle I aufgelistet. Der Weg der von den LEDs106 ,106' , ...;107 ,107' , ... emittierten und danach reflektierten Lichtstrahlen ist in3A durch punktierte Linien schematisch dargestellt. Das in den3A ,3B dargestellte Beispiel umfasst ebenfalls eine Anzahl weiterer blauer LEDs108 ,108' , welche eine sehr diffuse Emission in der Richtung111 des von dem Beleuchtungssystem101 emittierten Lichts aufweisen. -
4 zeigt ein elektrisches Schaltbild von LEDs zur Verwendung in einem Beleuchtungssystem gemäß der Erfindung mit einer einstellbaren Farbtemperatur. Eine Spannung wird von einer Stromquelle202 über eine Diodenbrücke201 zu einer Anordnung von blauen LEDs406 ,406' , ... und roten LEDs407 ,407' , ... geleitet. Mit Hilfe eines Wählschalters203 können weitere Gruppen aus blauen LEDs416 ,416' , ... und/oder roten LEDs417 ,417' , ... je nach Bedarf ein- oder ausgeschaltet werden. -
5 zeigt einen Querriss eines Ausführungsbeispiels des Beleuchtungssystems gemäß einem zweiten Aspekt der Erfindung. Das Beleuchtungssystem201 umfasst ein Gehäuse202 ,202' , welches eine Fassung205 aufnimmt, auf der eine Anzahl LEDs206 ;207 vorgesehen ist. Die LEDs206 ;207 umfassen eine Gruppe aus abwechselnd blauen LEDs206 (spektrale Emission 430 ≤ λ ≤ 490 nm) und grünen LEDs207 (spektrale Emission 510 ≤ λ ≤ 550 nm), wobei die LEDs206 ,207 so angeordnet sind, dass das Licht, welches diese emittieren, zu einem optisch transparenten Teil des Gehäuses202' hin gelenkt wird. In diesem Beispiel weist ein Teil der Fassung205' einen Kupferreflektor auf, welcher mit Reflexionsmitteln209 , zum Beispiel einer Silberschicht, bedeckt ist. In diesem Beispiel sind die LEDs mit Umwandlungsmitteln210 bedeckt, welche vorzugsweise ein lumineszierendes Material mit der Eigenschaft, grünes Licht (530–565 nm) in rotes Licht (610–630 nm) umzuwandeln, enthalten. Geeignete Leuchtstoffe, welche blaues Licht in rotes Licht umwandeln, sind: CaS:Eu,Mn; CaS:Eu; SrS:Eu; (Zn, Cd)S:Ag; SrO:Eu (Emissionsmaximum bei 625 nm); Sr3B2O6:Eu (Emissionsmaximum bei 590 nm); und Sr2Mg(BO3)2 (Emissionsmaximum bei 605 nm). Geeignete Leuchtstoffe, welche grünes Licht in rotes Licht umwandeln, sind: CaS:Eu,Mn oder CaS:Eu (≤ 550 nm) oder SrS:Eu (≤ 540 nm). - Ein sehr geeignetes Beleuchtungssystem gemäß einem zweiten Aspekt der Erfindung umfasst:
- – blaue GaN-LEDs (Fabrikat Nichia) mit einem Emissionsmaximum bei 470 nm, FWHM = 20 nm;
- – grüne GaN-LEDs (Fabrikat Nichia) mit einem Emissionsmaximum bei 530 nm, FWHM = 20 nm;
- – zwei oder drei, für jede blaue LED zu verwendende, grüne LEDs (je nach der erforderlichen Farbtemperatur);
- – sowie Umwandlungsmittel mit einer Schicht aus CaS:Eu,Mn.
- Das Beleuchtungssystem gemäß der Erfindung hat den Vorteil, dass eine hohe Farbwiedergabe (Ra ≥ 80) in Kombination mit einer relativ hohen, effektiven Lichtleistung (≥ 20 lm/W) und einer langen Lebensdauer (≥ 75.000 Stunden) erreicht wird.
- Es versteht sich von selbst, dass für Fachkundige viele Variationen innerhalb des Anwendungsbereichs der Erfindung, wie in den Ansprüchen definiert, möglich sind.
- Der Schutzumfang der Erfindung ist durch die Ansprüche definiert. Bezugsziffern in den Ansprüchen schränken den Schutzumfang der Ansprüche nicht ein. Die Verwendung des Begriffs „aufweist" bzw. „weist auf" bzw. „mit" schließt das Vorhandensein von anderen Elementen als den in den Ansprüchen erwähnten nicht aus. Die Verwendung des Begriffs „ein" bzw. „eine" bzw. „einen" vor einem Element schließt das Vorhandensein mehrerer solcher Elemente nicht aus.
Claims (16)
- Beleuchtungssystem (
1 ;101 ) mit mindestens zwei Licht emittierenden Dioden (6 ,6' , ...,7 ,7' , ...;106 ,106' , ...107 ,107' ...;206 ,207 ), wobei jede der Licht emittierenden Dioden bei Betrieb sichtbares Licht in einem vorgewählten Wellenlängenbereich emittiert, womit zwei Primärlichtquellen gebildet werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Beleuchtungssystem (1 ;101 ;201 ) Umwandlungsmittel (10 ;110 ;210 ) umfasst, um einen Teil des von einer der Licht emittierenden Dioden (6 ,6' , ...;196 ,106' ...;206 ,207 ) emittierten, sichtbaren Lichts in sichtbares Licht in einem weiteren Wellenlängenbereich umzuwandeln, womit eine Sekundärlichtquelle gebildet wird, um gegenüber einem, auf den beiden Primärlichtquellen basierenden Beleuchtungssystem eine verbesserte Farbwiedergabe zu erreichen. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Umwandlungsmittel (
10 ;110 ,210 ) ein lumineszierendes Material enthalten. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das lumineszierende Material durch, von dem Wellenlängenbereich von 400 bis 500 nm ausgehendem Licht angeregt werden kann.
- Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das lumineszierende Material aus der durch (Sr,Ca)2SiO4:Eu2+, Ba2SiO4:Eu2+, SrGa2S4, ZnS:Cu+, ZnS:Au+, ZnS:Al3+, (Zn, Cd)S:Ag+ und CaS:Ce3+ gebildeten Gruppe gewählt wird.
- Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die beiden Licht emittierenden Dioden (
6 ,6' , ...;7 ,7' , ...;106 ,106' , ...:107 ,107' , ...) zumindest eine blaue, Licht emittierende Diode (6 ,6' , ...;106 ,106' , ...) und zumindest eine rote, Licht emittierende Diode (7 ,7' , ...:107 ,107' , ...) umfassen, und dass die Umwandlungsmittel (10 ;110 ) ein lumineszierendes Material enthalten, um einen Teil des von der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode (6 ,6' , ...;106 ,106' , ...) emittierten Lichts in grünes Licht umzuwandeln. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Maximum der spektralen Emission der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode (
6 ,6' , ...;106 ,106' , ...) in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 460 bis 490 nm, das Maximum der spektralen Emission der roten, Licht emittierenden Diode (7 ,7' , ...:107 ,107' , ...) in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 610 bis 630 nm und das Maximum der spektralen Emission des grünen, Licht emittierenden, lumineszierenden Materials in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 510 bis 530 nm liegt. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das lumineszierende Material durch, von dem Wellenlängenbereich von 500 bis 560 nm ausgehendem Licht angeregt werden kann.
- Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das lumineszierende Material aus der durch CaS:Eu,Mn; CaS:Eu; SrS:Eu; (Zn, Cd)S:Ag; SrO:Eu; Sr3B2O6:Eu; Sr2Mg(BO3)2; CaS:Eu,Mn; CaS:Eu oder SrS:Eu gebildeten Gruppe gewählt wird.
- Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die beiden Licht emittierenden Dioden (
206 ,207 ) zumindest eine blaue, Licht emittierende Diode (206 ) und zumindest eine grüne, Licht emittierende Diode umfassen, und dass die Umwandlungsmittel (210 ) ein lumineszierendes Material zur Umwandlung eines Teils des von der blauen und/oder grünen, Licht emittierenden Diode (206 ,207 ) emittierten Lichts in rotes Licht enthalten. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Maximum der spektralen Emission der blauen, Licht emittierenden Diode (
206 ) in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 460 bis 490 nm, das Maximum der spektralen Emission der grünen, Licht emittierenden Diode (207 ) in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 510 bis 550 nm und das Maximum der spektralen Emission des roten, Licht emittierenden, lumineszierenden Materials in dem Wellenlängenbereich von 610 bis 630 nm liegt. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Farbwiedergabeindex des Beleuchtungssystems (
1 ;101 ;102 ) gleich oder größer als 80 ist. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass bei Betrieb eine Lichtausbeute der Licht emittierenden Dioden (
6 ,6' , ...,7 ,7' , ...:106 ,106' , ...107 ,107' , ...:206 ,207 ) mindestens 5 lm beträgt. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Beleuchtungssystem (
1 ;101 ;201 ) mit Reflexionsmitteln (9 ;109 ;209 ) versehen ist. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Reflexionsmittel (
9 ;109 ;209 ) ein Material enthalten, welches aus der durch BaSO4, ZnS, ZnO und TiO2 gebildeten Gruppe gewählt wird. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 13 oder 14, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Umwandlungsmittel (
10 ;110 ;210 ) in oder auf den Reflexionsmitteln (9 ;109 ;209 ) vorgesehen sind. - Beleuchtungssystem nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass eine Farbtemperatur des Beleuchtungssystems (
1 ;101 ;102 ) durch getrennte Ansteuerung der Licht emittierenden Dioden (6 ,6' , ...,7 ,7' , ...;8 ,8' , ...;106 ,106' , ...107 ,107' ...;108 ,108' , ...;206 ,207 ) eingestellt werden kann.
