As fusible conductors for fuses, originally, according to the purpose,
Low melting point metals used. One had to abandon this, however, because of the relatively large mass of metal
produced large amounts of metal vapor in the event of a melt through, thereby leading to explosions. A decrease
the fusible conductor ground was not possible because of the cross-section of the one passed through it
Current, the length of the distance required to prevent standing fire
the foot contact was dependent.
To remedy these inconveniences, fusible links made of metal with high
Melting point suggested, but the disadvantage had to be accepted
be that through these conductors a significant heating of the surrounding medium
was caused by heat emission from the intact fuse element itself. This
Bad situation occurs in a particularly conspicuous way with fuses that are within
a liquid, e.g. B. oil, are arranged, where very soon excessive heating
the liquid bath can be observed. A shortening of the fusible link and thereby a reduction of the heat emission
as a result of the lower energy dissipation, it was not possible here either, since the length of the fusible link is also reduced by the
for the prevention of the standing fire conditionally required distance of the foot contacts
was.
All dieses
an wertvollem Leitermaterial. The main obstacle to creating safe fuses is there
in the previously known designs in the fact that one did not understand the formation of arcs in the event of a meltdown
impede. In all known designs, this arc formation had to be taken into account
the length of the fuse element can be chosen to be greater than that given the electrical properties of the fuse
were necessary. On the basis of this knowledge, it is proposed according to the invention that
the fusible link, which is only dimensioned according to the voltage in question and the maximum permissible current strength
with their foot contacts "to connect to contact pieces of at least ten times the cross-section. The same
dimensioned contact pieces conduct due to their good heat capacity when melting through
of the conductor quickly dissipate the amount of heat generated there and thus absolutely prevent its formation
of the standing fire. This standing fire does not need to be taken into account when dimensioning the fusible link
instead, it is possible to reduce the length of the ladder that was previously customary to a fraction
to belittle. At the same time, the metal mass of the conductor and thus the
Volume of the metal vapor produced in the event of a short circuit is reduced. All of this
favors the safety and effectiveness of the new fuse, apart from the savings
of valuable conductor material.
In the drawing, a fuse according to the invention is shown in principle Licher execution in Fig. 1, while Fig. 2 shows a special form of manufacture of the fuse. A hollow body d is produced by rolling or the like from a sheet metal strip as, which serves as a carrier for the fusible conductor b and is provided with a slot c for this purpose. The fusible conductor is fastened in this body by pouring the resulting cavity with an additional metal, which increases the mass of the connecting piece in accordance with the invention.
In the same way, of course, you can also define the base points of fuses, which
are used in cartridge forms, provided with larger metal masses, which also significantly shorten the
Fusible wire length is achieved.
