Abstract
Description
Lichtausgang. The invention relates to a coupling element for a optical signal transmission system, with a Optical fiber connection and a light input or Light output.
For broadband transmission systems, the preferred are housed in frame, it is be knows the individual inserts of such a Ge stells to wire. For example Copper coax cable used. Such a Ge control cabling is very complex. The necessary coupling elements (coax plug and associated Bushings) require a lengthy and therefore knockout very intensive cable assembly. Moreover, there are Components are expensive because they are made from a variety of Individual parts exist.
If the cabling mentioned with Lichtwellenlei tern is made, so it is a light waveguide broadband transmission system are suitable coupling elements for connecting the Optical fiber with the inserts required. The invention relates to such Koppelele elements, these being universal, not just for Broadband transmission systems can be used.
Among other things, they are also for one Computer networking can be used.
Coupling elements for optical signal transmission system systems are also known. These can be in Injection molding process made from thermoplastics Have lenses. Disadvantages are in the verbin areas to the air chen, as this only results in a low coupling degree of efficiency can be achieved.
The invention has for its object a Kop pelelement for an optical signal transmission system stem to create a high coupling effect degrees and inexpensive and unstable is due and one for short transmission distances offers high bandwidth.
This object is achieved by the Training as a one-piece, transparent angle piece with parabolic located in the angular range Light deflecting surface, the surface on one Elbow end is curved to form a lens and at the other end of the elbow of the optical fiber ter connection is. The coupling element therefore has According to the invention on two optical systems, namely the named lens and the parabolic light steering surface. An example of an optical Light cone originating from the transmitter hits the lens, which preferably have a parallel light beam in the generated the coupling element. That ray of light meets the parabolic light deflection surface and is bundled there, so that in the coupled Optical fiber that connects directly to the coupling element at the corresponding contra-angle end stands (e.g. is glued there) accordingly focus on the fiber diameter of the optical fiber light beam can enter. Between the parabolic light deflection surface and the light world lenleiter is therefore not a loss-causing There is an interface with the air. By using materials (e.g. PMMA) can be Training according to the invention despite relatively lower An optimal refractive index of the materials used Guide the light or achieve the desired aperture. The design of the coupling element as an elbow is ideal for the already mentioned Back panel wiring. Through the inventive design, it is possible that Light enters at one end of the angle let it redirect it in the angular range so that it then from the other side of the angle occurs.
According to a further development of the invention, it is provided hen that the fiber optic connection an has plug-in channel for the optical fiber. The Optical fiber is therefore easy to assemble insert in the insertion channel and give there if necessary, fix with a little glue. His The end face therefore borders directly on the paddock element without an interface "air Fiber "there.
The angle piece is preferably made of art material. In particular, it is advantageous if that Angle piece in the plastic injection molding process represents is. This manufacture is particularly expensive value. For the injection molding process, transpa pension plastics (e.g. PMMA, polystyrene, polycar bonat or a thermoplastic copolymer) used. Such plastics have one extraordinarily good optical quality.
It is particularly advantageous if the light deflection surface is designed as a parabolic mirror.
According to a preferred embodiment, the Deflection surface on the surface of an outside angle richly trained. Since there is reflection here the light does not emerge in the outer angle range, but becomes a correspondingly different angle headed. The reflection mentioned gives through the interface with the air. To alternatively especially for light beams close to the axis To achieve total reflection is the surface of the Mirrored outside angle range. This can be done at for example, aluminum can be used.
Central to the light within the coupling element the light deflection surface on the Bo the one in the outer angle range educated. The depression also forms one Protection for the parabolic mirror.
According to a special embodiment, the Surface curved to form the lens. This surface forms one of those already mentioned Angular end faces. Due to the convex curvature a converging lens is formed. The curvature can be esp special spherical or aspherical be.
Finally, it is advantageous if the lens having leg of the elbow in one Receiving channel of a mating connector part inserted is, with an optoelectric in the receiving channel Component is arranged. This makes an op perfect coupling with the optoelectri component possible. By inserting or The can be pulled out of the receiving channel Establish or disconnect optical connection.
Can accommodate the optoelectric component the receiving channel ver in diameter stepwise be bigger. This is also from thermal Advantageous reasons (dissipation of heat loss).
In particular, as an optoelectric component a laser diode (transmitter) or a photodiode (Emp catcher) can be used.
Und zwar zeigt:Using an exemplary embodiment, the inven in conjunction with the drawings light. That shows:

Fig. 3 is an exploded view of the coupling element provided with a mating connector part in section.
Fig. 1 shows a coupling element 1 , which is made in one piece from transparent plastic by injection molding. PMMA, polystyrene, polycarbonate or a thermoplastic copolymer is preferably used as the plastic.
The coupling element 1 thus forms a transparent component 2 . It is preferably designed as an angle piece 3 , that is to say it has a first leg 4 and a second leg 5 . The legs 4 , 5 are integrally connected to one another via a win kel range 6 . The first leg 4 has a first angular face 7 and the second leg 5 has a second angular face 8 . The angular end faces 7 and 8 form light inputs and light outputs 24 . The cross section of the angle piece 3 is circular.
A fiber optic connection is formed centrally in the first leg 4 . This consists of egg nem insertion channel 10 for receiving an optical waveguide LWL ( Fig. 3). The surface 11 of the second angular face 8 is convexly curved and forms a lens 12 .
A light deflection surface 15 is provided in the outer angle region 14 of the coupling element 1 . This is designed as a parabolic mirror 16 . The parabolic mirror 16 is formed on the bottom 17 of a recess 18 .
In Fig. 1 it is indicated with a broken line how a light beam extending between the insertion channel 10 and lens 12 on the parabolic mirror 16 is deflected.
Fig. 2 shows a view of the Para bolspiegel 16th It can be seen that it has a circular periphery.
In addition to the representation in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a mating connector part 25 of the coupling element 1 , which has a receiving channel 19 for the second leg 5 of the angle piece 3 . In the recording mekanal 19 , an optoelectric component 20 is arranged such that its larger cross-sectional flange region 21 is in a stepwise widening enlargement 26 of the receiving channel 19 . The optoelectric component 20 can be designed as a laser diode 22 , for example. In this case, the optoelectric component 20 would act as a transmitter. According to another embodiment, however, it is also possible that the opto-electrical component 20 is a photodiode that works as a receiver.
In order to bring the optical waveguide into active connection with the laser diode 22 , it is inserted into the insertion channel 10 and fixed with a small amount of adhesive. To connect to the La serdiode 22 , the second leg 5 of the elbow 3 is inserted into the receiving channel 19 such that the light emitted by the laser diode 22 falls onto the lens 12 , from there in pa relleler light guide to the parabolic mirror 16 and is redirected there. The redirected and focused light reaches the front of the fiber optic cable.
If the optical fiber LWL delivers light it reaches the parabolic mirror 16 and from there to the lens 12 , which is a photodiode ode (not shown) working as a receiver.
The solution according to the invention can be used inexpensive and fault-resistant opti high bandwidth transmission system for realize short transmission distances. As light waveguide LWL can preferably plastic thick core fibers are used. These are special inexpensive. These are much easier process as z. B. from the prior art nik known metallic conductor.
The special feature of the coupling element according to the invention is, in particular, that two imaging systems which can be optimized independently of one another can be produced in one manufacturing operation (injection molding process). These are the lens 12 and the parabolic mirror 16 . These two mutually independent optical systems have the advantage of flexible adaptation to the numerical apertures of the system elements to be connected. There is a high coupling efficiency, in particular a high radiation power into the fiber. There is only very little back reflection in the optoelectric component 20 . In addition, there is very little reflection-induced noise. In addition to the optical advantages mentioned, the following results from a mechanical and manufacturing point of view: there are small mechanical dimensions; due to the bent beam path (contra-angle 3 ) there is excellent suitability for rack wiring; low cost; very simple, time-saving installation with a minimum of tools (knives and glue); no corrosion and other environmental problems; no interference radiation; high data security, e.g. B. in the networking of computer systems; no RFI or EMI problems; high operational reliability; long service life and short transmission distances, data rates in the gigabit / s range are possible. Compared to known coupling elements, the invention has the advantage that a reflective air interface is avoided by using the light deflecting surface as an imaging system, which often leads to dramatic quality losses in the broadband system. The performance of the system according to the invention ranges from Gbit / s over a few meters of track length to Mbit / s over several 100 meters.
