Abstract

In a process for the production of cured, mechanically reworkable polyurethane mouldings, mould formations on or inlays in a support (carrier, base) element or the like, in particular polyurethane mould formations on or inlays in wood or wood/plastic composite boards, in which the polyurethane is mixed from the starting materials, processed, cured under the action of heat and then mechanically reworked as necessary, polyurethane mouldings of the type mentioned can be warmed effectively, rapidly and uniformly in order to make the curing time as short as possible by warming the polyurethane (and any surrounding support element) by microwaves to effect the curing.

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing cured, me can be reworked polyurethane moldings, moldings on or -Inlays in a carrier body or the like, in particular from polyurethane mold Formations on or inlays in wood or wood / plastic composite panels, the polyurethane mixed from the raw materials, processed, under Heat hardened and then mechanically reworkable if necessary is being processed.

The processing of polyurethane into moldings has long been a constant practice in the element and furniture industry. Polyurethane is also used a lot to certain formations on carrier bodies, for example on chipboard to enable. For example, high quality table tops are now being used made of chipboard coated with high pressure laminate on the All-round edges, i.e. seamless, with molded polyurethane edges. Known it is also for moisture-tight sealing with high-pressure laminate coated chipboard with polyurethane edging or embedded drain afford to provide. A variety of other uses for polyurethane are knows, but needs no further explanation here.

To produce the polyurethane molded body (the following is the simplicity for the sake of molded polyurethane bodies, even if each in one if a shape or an insert is meant), the polyure than provided in the form of starting materials so that its total processing processing and curing time corresponds to the desired field of application. Example wise, it is not uncommon for a total processing and curing time about 40 seconds after mixing. The processing, for example as the injection of a drip tray in a carrier body, then takes about 10 seconds, so that further curing takes 30 seconds.

For processing in an industrial setting, it would of course be optimal if the polyurethane very quickly after processing, so to speak suddenly would harden. Then you could very shortly after processing  Connect the next process step, namely the frequently required me mechanical reworking of the polyurethane molded body produced. To the actual curing curve of polyurethane approaching this ideal warmed the polyurethane after processing by infrared radiation, by Contact heat or the like. This is often not without problems in terms of process technology table, this type of heating shows poor energy efficiency and besides, the depth of penetration of the heat is not great enough so that the Curing occurs unevenly.

There is therefore a considerable practical need for a method with the polyurethane molded body of the type mentioned is effective, quick and the same can be warmed moderately to make the curing time as short as possible allow.

The task outlined above is based on the teaching of the present patent message solved in that the polyurethane (and possibly the surrounding support body per) is heated for curing by microwave radiation. The Erwär Water-containing materials have been exposed to microwave radiation already known for a long time. According to the invention, it has now been recognized that polyure than can also be heated by microwave radiation. The Erfin dung is based on the knowledge that the OH groups of the polyurethane for egg ne interaction with microwaves form sufficient starting points. Polyure Like water-containing materials, microwaves can be used through and through, so heat completely evenly, and extremely quickly and with a very high degree of efficiency, since a direct energy conversion takes place.

Practical tests have shown that for the above-mentioned frequent Use case of setting the total processing and curing time a microwave radiation of 10 seconds is sufficient for about 40 seconds, to achieve complete curing of the polyurethane.

Experiments have also shown that it is advisable that the Microwave radiation temperature of the polyurethane reached about 350 up to 400 K.

A particularly high degree of efficiency for heating by microwave radiation tion results in the case of molded polyurethane articles or polyurethane inserts a chipboard, one coated with high pressure laminate Wood chipboard or the like, and that because the chipboard through the microwave radiation is heated with high efficiency. It lies on the water content of the chipboard. This means that the Polyurethane molded body given in two ways, on the one hand by the direct microwave radiation into the polyurethane molded body, on the other hand due to the heat transfer from the chipboard into the molded polyurethane body.

As a result, the method according to the invention represents a novel possibility of curing polyurethane moldings optimally quickly and completely uniformly. This is done with an extremely high energy efficiency. It is possible to come much closer to the theoretical ideal of the hardness curve of a molded polyurethane body - optimal processability during processing time, then sudden hardening to the final hardness required for mechanical finishing - than with all previously known heating processes.
