Stabilisatorsysteme aus Triarylphosphiten und Phenolen
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von Stabilisatorsystemen aus Triarylphosphiten und Phenolen
zum Stabilisieren von organischen polymeren Stoffen gegen thermoxidative Schädligung, sowie mit den genannten
Systemen stabilisierte organische Polymeren.
"Triarylphosphite", bzw. "arylgruppenhaltige Phosphite"
sind bekannt. Unter "arylgruppenhaltigen Phosphiten"
werden vor allem gemischt substituierte (unsymmetrische) Phosphite verstanden, und zwar solche, die entweder drei
verschieden substituierte Arylreste, oder neben (substituierten) Arylresten auch Alkylreste enthalten. Solche
unsymmetrischen Phosphite gehen meist intermolekulare Umlagerungsreaktionenaktionen ein, sind durchwegs flüssig
und neigen zu Hydrolyse, was zu schlechter Lagerstabilität und schlecht reproduzierbarer Wirksamkeit fuhrt.
In US 2.997.454 und US 2.867.594 wird die bessere Wirksamkeit von unsymmetrischen Alkyl-arylphosphiten gegenüber
den symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten in PVC hervorge-

Es wurde nun überraschend gefunden, dass eine begrenzte Klasse von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten der allgemeinen Formel

worin R. tert-Butyl, 1,1-Dimethylpropyl, Cyclohexyl oder
Phenyl und eines von R2 und R~ Wasserstoff und das andere
Wasserstoff, Methyl, tert-Butyl, 1,1-Dimethylpropyl, Cyclohexyl oder Phenyl ist, in Kombination mit phenolischen Antioxidantien
eine besondere Wirksamkeit in solchen organischen Polymeren entfalten, die Heteroatome, Doppelbindungen oder
aromatische Kerne enthalten.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I können - zusammen mit einer oder mehreren der phenolischen Verbindungen - einzeln oder
auch in Kombination untereinander verwendet werden. Die erfindungsgemäss
einsetzbaren Phosphite stellen meist kristallisierte Festkörper dar, die auch gegen Hydrolyse, verglichen
mit dem breiten Kreis der heute bekannten Phosphite, besonders stabil sind.
In der Formel I haben die Symbole bevorzugt folgende Bedeutung:

Als Beispiele für phenolische Verbindungen sind zu nennen:

2,6-Di-tert.butyl-4-methylphenol, 2,6-Di-tert.butyl-4-methoxymethylphenol
oder 2,6-Di-tert.-butyl-4-methoxyphenol.

Die Herstellung der Verbindungen der Famel I kann nach bekannten
Methoden erfolgen, beispielsweise durch Umsetzung eines Phenols der Formel II

mit Phosphortrichlorid ohne Lösungsmittel bei 20-25O0C, oder
in einem inerten, aprotischen Lösungsmittel in Gegenwart einer organischen Base, oder durch Umsetzung einer Verbindung der
Formel II mit Triphenylphosphit, vorzugsweise ohne Lösungsmittel, in Gegenwart eines basischen Katalysators.

Die anfallenden Verbindungen werden durch Umkristallisation in einem geeigneten Lösungsmittel (-gemisch) gereinigt.
Das erfindungsgemässe Stabilisatorsystem eignet sich zum Stabilisieren von solchen organischen Polymeren, die Heteroatome,
Doppelbindungen oder aromatische Kerne enthalten. Beispielsweise kommen in Frage:
1. Polymere, die sich von doppelt ungesättigten Kohlenwasserstoffen
ableiten, z.B. Polyisopren oder Polybutadien.
2. Polystyrol.
3. Copolymere von Styrol oder α-Methylstyrol mit Dienen
oder AcryIderivaten, wie z.B. Styrol-Butadien, Styrol-Acrylnitril,
Styrol-Acrylnitril-Methacrylat; Mischungen von hohen Schlagzähigkeit aus Styrol-Copolymeren und einem andern
Polymeren wie z.B. einem Polyacrylat, einem Dien-Polymeren oder einem Aethylen-Propylen-Dien-Terpolymeren; sowie Block-Copolymere
des Styrols wie z.B. Styrol-Butadien-Styrol, Styrol-Isopren-Styrol oder Styrol-Aethylen/Butylen-Styrol.
4. Pfropfcopolymere von Styrol, wie z.B. Styrol auf
Polybutadien, Styrol und Acrylnitril auf Polybutadien, sowie deren Mischungen mit den unter 3) genannten Copolymeren,
wie sie als sogenannte ABS-Polymere bekannt sind.
5. Halogenhältige Vinylpolymere, wie Polyvinylchlorid,
Polyvinylidenchlorid, Polyvinylfluorid, Polychloropren, Chlorkautschuke, Vinylchlorid-Vinylidenchlorid-Copolymere,
Vinylchlorid-Vinylacetat-Copolymere, Vinylidenchlorid-Vinylacetat-Copolymere.
6. Polymere, die sich von α,β-ungesättigten Säuren und
deren Derivaten ableiten, Polyacrylate und Polymethacrylate, Polyacrylamide und Polyacrylnitril.

7. Polymere, die sich von ungesättigten Alkoholen bzw.
deren Acylderivaten oder Acetalen ableiten, wie Polyvinylalkohol, Polyvinylacetat-, -stearat, -benzoat, Polyvinylbutyral,
Polyallylphthalat, Polyallylrnelatnin und deren Copolymere
mit anderen Vinylverbindungen, wie Aethylen/Vinylacetat-Copolyraere.
8. Polyacetale, wie Polyoxymethylen, sowie solche Polyoxymethylene,
die als Comonomeres z.B. Aethylenoxyd enthalten.
9. Polyure thane.
10. Polycarbonate.
11. Aliphatische und aromatische Polyamide und Copolyamide, die sich von Diaminen und Dicarbonsäuren und/oder von
Aminocarbonsäuren oder den entsprechenden Lactamen ableiten, wie Polyamid 6, Polyamid 6/6, Polyamid 6/10, Polyamid 11,
Polyamid 12.
12. Polyester, die sich von Dicarbonsäuren und Dialkoholen
und/oder von Hydroxycarbonsäuren oder den entsprechenden Lactonen ableiten, wie Polyäthylenglykolterephthalat,
Poly-1,4-dimethylol-cyclohexanterephthalat.
Die erfindungsgemässe Stabilisatormischung wird in einer
Konzentration von
0,005 bis 5% bevorzugt 0,01 bis 1% besonders bevorzugt 0,05 bis 0,5% berechnet auf das zu stabilisierende Material einverbleibt.
Das Triarylphosphit und das phenolische Antioxidans werden im Verhältnis 10:1 bis 1:5, bevorzugt 5:1 bis
1:2, und insbesondere 3:1 bis 1:1 eingearbeitet. Die Einarbeitung kann nach verschiedenen Methoden erfolgen, beispielsweise
durch Trockenmischen des Polymeren mit mindestens einer der erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen und einem phenolischen

Antioxidans und anschliessender Verarbeitung im Kneter, Mischwalzwerk oder Extruder. Die genannten Additive können
auch in der Form einer Lösung oder Dispersion auf das Polymere aufgebracht werden, wobei das Lösungsmittel nachträglich
verdunstet wird.
Als Beispiele weiterer Additive, die zusammen mit der erfindungsgemMssen
Kombination eingesetzt werden können, sind zu nennen:

Phenyl-1-naphthylatnin, Phenyl-2-napththylamin, N,N'^
Di-phenyl-p-phenylendiamin, N,N9-Di-2-naphthyl-pphenylendiamin,
N,N1 -Di-2-naphthyl-p-phenylendiamin.,
N.N'-Di-sec.butyl-p-phenylendiamin, 6-Aethoxy-2,2,4-triraethyl-l,2-dihydrochinolin,
6-Dodecyl-2,2,4-trimethyl-l,2-dihydrochinolin, Mono- und Dioctyliminodibenzyl, polymerisiertes 2,2,4-Trimethyl-l,2-dihydrochinolin.
Octyliertes Diphenylamin, Nonyliertes Diphenylamin, N-Phenyl-N1-cyclohexyl-p-phenylendiamin, N-Phenyl-N1-isopropyl-p-phenylendiamin,
N,N1-Di-sec.octyl-p-phenylendiamin,
N-Phenyl-N1-see.octyl-p-phenylendiamin,
N,N1-Di-(I,4-dimethylpentyl)-p-phenylendiamin, N.N1-Dimethyl-N,Nl-di-(sek.octyl)-p-phenylendiamin,
2,6-Dimethyl-4-methoxyanilin, 4-Aethoxy-N-sec.butylaniltnt
Diphenylamin-Aceton-Kondensationsprodukt, Aldol-1-naphthylamin,

Beim Einsatz dieser Gruppe ist gelegentlich mit Verfärbungserscheinungen zu rechnen.

100 Teile unstabilisiertes SAN-Granulat (Styrol-Acrylnitril
Copolymer mit 26,57« Acrylnitrll-Gehalt, "Ronfalin S" der
Firma DSM, Holland) werden mit jeweils 0,1 Teil der in der untenstehenden Tabelle 1 aufgeführten Additive trocken
gemischt. Die Mischungen werden in einem Buss-ko-Kneter
bei 180°C extrudiert und anschliessend granuliert. Das erhaltene Granulat wird auf einer Schneckenspritzgussmaschine
(Ankerwerk Nürnberg, Deutschland) bei 24OeC zu Plättchen
der Dimension 50x55x2 mm verspritzt. Die Vergleichsplättchen ohne Additive werden auf analoge Weise hergestellt.
Die Intensität der durch die Verarbeitung hervorgerufenen Vergilbung sind durch Messung des "Yellowness Index" nach
ASTM 1925 bestimmt.

Für den folgenden Versuch wurde die Lösung eines Polyurethan-Elastomeren
verwendet, die folgende Zusammensetzung aufwies:
90 Teile Dimethylformamid 9,8 Teile Polyurethan 0,2 Teile TiO2-
Die Lösung wurde jeweils mit den folgenden Additiven versetzt, die anschliessend während einer halben Stunde bis zur vollständigen
Lösung eingerührt wurden:
1) 0,1 Teil Additiv D
2) 0,1 Teil Additiv D 0,1 Teil Additiv C
3) 0,1 Teil Additiv D 0,05 Teile Additiv E 0,05 Teile Additiv F
4) 0,1 Teil Additiv D 0,05 Teile Additiv E 0,05 Teile Additiv F 0,05 Teile Additiv C
5) Kontrolle.
C: Tri-(2,4-ditert.butylpheny1)-phosphit.
D: Pentaerythrit-tetra-[3-(3,5-ditert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl]-propionat].
E: 2-(2'-Hydroxy-3',5'-ditert.butylpheny1)-5-chlorbenztriazol.
F: 3,S-ditert.butyl-^-hydroxy-benzoesäure-^,4-ditert. butylphenylester.
Die Lösungen wurden mit einem Filmziehgerät auf eine Teflonunterlage
gestrichen und während 15 Stunden im Hochvakuum bei 130eC getrocknet. Die Nassfilmdicke betrug 500^, die getrockneten
Folien lagen demnach in einer Dicke, von ca. 50^£
vor, und die Additive in einer Konzentration von 0,5 bzw. 1,0%.

Die Folien wurden in einem Belichtungsgerät (Xenotest 1200)

FUr den folgenden Versuch wurde die Lösung eines Polyurethan-Elastomeren
verwendet, die folgende Zusammensetzung aufwiest:
85 Teile Dimethylacetamid
15 Teile Polyurethan
15 Teile Polyurethan
Die Lösung wurde jeweils mit den folgenden Additiven versetzt, die anschliessend während einer halben Stunde bis zur vollständigen
Lösung eingerlihrt wurden:
1) 0,075 Teile Additiv D
2) 0,075 Teile Additiv D
0,075 Teile Additiv C
0,075 Teile Additiv C
3) Kontrolle
Die Bezeichnungen der Additive sind dieselben wie in Beispiel

Die Lösungen wurden mit einem Filmziehgerät auf eine Teflonunterlage
gestrichen und während 15 Stunden im Hochvakuum bei 13O°C getrocknet. Die Nassfilmdicke betrug 500,£, die getrockneten
Folien lagen demnach in einer Dicke von 50^vor, und die Additive in einer Konzentration von 0,5%. Die Folien
wurden in einer Standartgerät nach AATCC unter kontrollierten Bedingungen den Abgasen eines Gasbrenners ausgesetzt (seg.
Gasfading-Bedingungen, 1 Cyclus. 1 Cyclus bedeutet die Expositionszeit, bis sich eine mitgelaufene Kontrollfärbung
zu der Farbe des FarbänderungsStandards verschoben hat). Die Intensität des visuellen Gelbeindrucks wurde vor und nach der
Begasung durch Messung des "Yellowness Index" nach ASTM 1925 bestimmt.

FUr den folgenden Versuch wurde die Lösung eines Polyacrylnitril-Polymeren
verwendet, die folgende Zusammensetzung aufwiest:
85 Teile Dimethylformamid 15 Teile Polyacrylnitril.
Die Lösung wurde jeweils mit den folgenden Additiven versetzt, die anschliessend während einer halben Stunde bis zur vollständigen
Lösung eingerührt wurden:
1) 0,030 Teile Additiv D
2) 0,030 Teile Additiv D 0,075 Teile Additiv C
3) Kontrolle.
Die Bezeichnungen der Additive sind dieselben wie in Beispiel 2.
Die Lösungen wurden unter kräftigem Rühren während 10 Minuten in die doppelte Menge kalten Wassers eingetropft. Das erhaltene
Pulver wurde abgesaugt, gewaschen und getrocknet. Die Additive lagen demnach in einer Konzentration von 0,2%, bzw. 0,5% vor.
Anschliessend wurde das Material bei drei verschiedenen Temperaturen während je 4 Stunden unter Normalstickstoff gealtert.
Die bei Herstellung und Alterung eingetretene Verfärbung wurde durch Messung des "Yellowness Index" nach ASTM 1925
quantifiziert.

100 Teile unstabilisiertes Polyamid 12-Granulat ("Vestamid11
der ehem. Werke Hüls, Deutschland) werden nach Vertrocknung mit jeweils 0,5 Teilen der in der untenstehenden Tabelle 5
aufgeführten Additive gemischt. Die Mischungen werden in einem Einschnecken-Extruder bei maximal 240°C extrudiert und
anschliessend granuliert. Das erhaltene Granulat wird auf einer Schneckenspritzgussmaschine (Ankerwerk, Nürnberg, Deutschland)
bei maximal 28O°C, zu 1,5 mm dicken Hautein verspritzt. Die Vergleichshauteln ohne Additive werden auf analoge Weise hergestellt.
Die Prüfung auf Wirksamkeit der den Hautein zugesetzten Additive wird durch Hitzealterung in einem Umluftofen bei
1600C vorgenommen. Das Fortschreiten der Alterung wird durch
Bestimmung der Spannungs-Dehnungs-Diagramme in Abständen von
1-3 Tagen verfolgt. Als Endpunkt wird die Zeit definiert, nach welcher die Streckspannung auf 80% ihres Anfangswertes
abgefallen ist.

100 Teile schlagfestes Polystyrol (Hersteller: Firma BASF, Deutschland) werden mit den in der untenstehenden Tabelle
angeführten Additiven in den angegebenen Konzentrationen trocken gemischt. Die Mischungen werden in einem Einschneeken-Extruder
bei maximal 1800C extrudiert und anschliessend
granuliert. Das erhaltene Granulat wird auf einer Schneckenspritzgussmaschine (Ankerwerk, Nürnberg, Deutschland) bei
maximal 240°C zu 1,5 mm dicken Platten verpritzt. Die Vergleichsplatten
ohne Additive werden auf analoge Weise hergestellt.
Die Prüfung auf Wirksamkeit der den Platten zugesetzten Additive wird durch Belichtung in einem Xenotestgerät
Typ "150" vorgenommen. Das Fortschreiten der Alterung wird durch Bestimmung des "Yellowness Index" nach ASTM 1925
verfolgt. Der Yellowness Index stellt ein gutes Mass für den visuellen Gelbeindruck dar.

Claims (15)
- Patentansprüche1· Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten derallgemeinen Formel I(DR-j tert.Butyl, 1,1-Dimethylpropyl, Cyclohexyl oderPhenyl ist
und eines von
R2 und R-J Wasserstoff und das andere Wasserstoff, Methyl, tert.Butyl, 1,1-Dimethylpropyl, Cyclohexyl oder Phenyl ist,in Kombination mit phenolischen Antioxidantien zum Stabilisieren von organischen Polymeren, welche Heteroatome, Doppelbindungen oder aromatische Kerne enthalten. - 2. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in der Formel I R1 tert.Butylund eines von R2 und R3 Wasserstoff und das andere Wasserstoff, Methyl oder tert.Butyl bedaiten.
- 3. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenlische Antioxidans ein Ester der ß-(3,5-Di-tert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionsäure ist.709832/0966 ORIGINAUNSPECTED^-21 _
- 4. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans Pentaerythrit-tetra-[3-(3,5-di-tert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionat ist.
- 5. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans ß-(3,5-Di-tert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionsäure-n-octadecylester ist.
- 6. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemHss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans eine Hydroxybenzyl Verbindung ist.
- 7. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans l,3,5-Tri-(3,5-di-tert.butyl~4-hydroxybenzyl)-isocyanurat ist.
- 8. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans 3,9-Bis-[l,l-dimethyl-2(3,5-di-tert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl-äthyl]-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro-[5,5]-undecan ist.
- 9. Verwendung von Tri—(2,4-di-tert.butylphenyl)-phos· phit gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolische Antioxidans 3,9-Bis-(l,l-dimethyl-2(3,5-di-tert. butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl-äthy1)2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro-[5,5 ] undecan ist.709832/09 Π 6
- 10. Verwendung von symmetrischen Triarylphosphiten gemäsi! Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das phenolischc Antioxidans IJ,N' -hexamethylen-bis- [3-(3,5-ditert. butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionamide] ist.
- 11. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Phosphit Tri-(2,4-ditert. -butylphenyl)-phosphit ist.
- 12. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Phosphit ■JYi-(2,4--dit:ert. -anylphenyl)-phosphit oder Tri-(2-terl:. butyl-^i -uethy!phenyl) -phosphit ist.
- 13. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Polymer ein Polyamid, Polycvirbonat, Polyurethan oder ein Styrol-Acrylnitril-Copolymer ist.
- 14. Organische Polymere nach Anspruch 1, mit Heteroatomen, Doppelb!.ndungen oder arcmatischen Kernen stabilisiert rait einem Stabilisatorsystem geinäss einer der Ansprüche 1-12.
- 15. Stabilisatorsystem nach Anspruch 1 für organische Polymere mit Heteroatomen, Doppelbindungen oder aromatischen Kernen, enthaltend ein Phosphit der Formel 1 geiräss einer der Ansprüche 1-12 und ein phenolisches Antioxidans.7 O 9 8 3 2 / O "■>. . 6
