Zusatz zum Patent 255637..Addition to patent 255637 ..
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 26. Oktober 1912 ab. Längste Dauer: 16.JuIi 1927.Patented in the German Empire on October 26, 1912. Longest duration: June 16, 1927.
For several purposes of neon advertising, hiking switches are required, that is, switches, which allow alternating one of three or more lamps or groups of lamps (each of which can consist of lamps connected in parallel or in series). The known ones used for this purpose Switches each time connect one pole of the group in question to a line of the network, while the other pole of all lamps is permanently connected to the other line; they are called multi-color or walking switches.
With this circuit, heavy current surges occur in metal filament lamps. The patent specification 255637, Kl. 21 c, specifies a new circuit for two-color switches through which these current surges can be reduced to about a sixth part. The analogous application the same method on traveling switches forms the subject of the present invention. After the same, the switch-off will be a group and switching on a new group via an intermediate state, in which both groups burn in series. Here, too, the prerequisite is that all groups are at least approximately the same Have resistance ratios.
The method allows two different embodiments. Everyone is with one Groups connected in series to the mains voltage and short-circuited except for the one that was just burning. When transitioning to another Group, the short circuit of the new group is opened first; now two are burning Groups in a row, of course only dark. It is expedient to leave this transition state take until equilibrium is reached, which takes less than a quarter of a second ; this also reduces the second current surge that occurs when the first group is now short-circuited.
This embodiment is shown schematically by FIGS. 1a and 1b. The lamps or lamp groups a, b, c, d, e, f, which are connected in series to the network I, I, are connected to the stationary brushes g of a switching drum in such a way that the metal segments h of all lamp groups except for the short-circuit burning (group b). If the shift drum is turned in the direction of the arrow, the groups c, d, e, f, α etc. will light up in sequence. Since the brushes g are narrower than the insulating webs separating the two metal segments h , two groups (in Fig. 1b, groups b and c) are in series for a short time at the transition from one position to the next.
Angenommen, von sechs Gruppen a, b, c, d, e, f brennt zur ZeitIn the second embodiment (FIG. 2 a), all groups are connected in series to form a closed ring. Assume that six groups a, b, c, d, e, f are currently on fire
Then both terminals of the network are at the poles of group b, while at the same time the groups c, d, e, f, a, which are connected in series and which are parallel to b with respect to the network, receive a very weak current. To switch to group c, by turning the switch m, n, the parts of which are rigidly connected to one another and are moved, for example, by a clockwork in the direction of the arrow, first the switching part η is brought into a position (see FIG. 2 b), in which he bridges the two contact pieces i lying to the right and left of the insulating piece, while the switching part m still touches his contact piece i alone; So the power line at connection point b, c is initially also connected to point c. d placed, ie the group c short-circuited, whereupon the switching part η leaves the contact piece i connected to the point b, c before "the switching part m touches this contact piece, so the connection of the line to the point b, c is interrupted. Now b are the one hand, the groups and c, on the other hand the groups d, e, f and α hinte purely other switched and set to the grid. Now is connected which also b at the connection point a, b lying power line through the switching part m of the point c, so group b short-circuited, and immediately afterwards switched off from point a, b , so that group c is now burning, while all other groups are connected in series and have a very weak current flowing through them.
If the total number of groups is not large, e.g. B. is only three or four, it is advisable, with a view to saving electricity, the longer, from the weak To interrupt the current flowing row of lamps at any point.
.Such an arrangement for six groups is shown in FIGS. 3a and 3b; the poles of each lamp group are placed separately on the fixed contact blades p, q , on which the rigidly connected contact levers r, s and t slide, t has no power supply. In the position of FIG. 3 a, therefore, the group of lamps b burns, and group c after a sixth turn of the lever. In the intermediate position (Fig. 3 b) the group c is short-circuited by the contact lever s. With further rotation, groups b and c are connected in series to the mains for a short time; the other groups are separated from the network. .
The following position again corresponds to FIG. 3a, only now group c is fully burning.
In all of the circuits described above, one or more of the lamp groups' z. B. replace every second group with lamps that are not visibly arranged (e.g. inside the house). Instead of the non-visible lamps are also resistors of similar characteristics, e.g. B. the as Variators known iron wire resistors, can be used. To do this, the attachment of several To save contradictions, one can use the alternate series connection described above always use the same resistor.
