Description
Die Erfindung betrifft Schmiermittel, insbesondere wässrige
Schmiermittelj die für verschiedene Anwendungszwecke geeignet
sind, wo die Verminderung der Reibung gewünscht ist, wie bei
der Metallbearbeitung, beim Bohren oder Drehen oder beim Flaschen-
Schmiermittelj die für verschiedene Anwendungszwecke geeignet

Bisher werden verschiedene Schmiermittel verwendet , wie wasserunlösliche
öle und wässrige Schmiermittel, beispielsweise bei der
Metallbearbeitung., wie beim Ziehen, Schneiden, Schleifen, beim ' Abschrecken und Walzen, bei Bohrarbeiten, beispielsweise beim
Aufschluss von ölfeldern und beim Flaschenfüllen in der Lebens- \ mittel- und Getränkeindustrie. Die meisten der herkömmlichen ·
Metallbearbeitung., wie beim Ziehen, Schneiden, Schleifen, beim ' Abschrecken und Walzen, bei Bohrarbeiten, beispielsweise beim
Aufschluss von ölfeldern und beim Flaschenfüllen in der Lebens- \ mittel- und Getränkeindustrie. Die meisten der herkömmlichen ·

wässrigen Schmiermittel sind Emulsionen oder Dispersionen, die '■.
• durch Emulgieren von Mineralölen oder pflanzlichen ölen in Wasser :
in Gegenwart von Emulgatoren, beispielsweise Fettsäureseifen oder '.
.Alkylenoxydaddukten mit höheren Alkoholen, erhalten sind. · !
Diese Schmiermittel haben gute schmierende Eigenschaften. Sie j
haben jedoch gewisse Nachteile. Zum Beispiel erfordert erstens j die Herstellung von Emulsionen zeitraubende Arbeitsgänge und eine ■
,besondere Einrichtung, zweitens sind die Emulsionen zu instabil., j
jum lange Zeit im Kreislauf verwendet zu werden, und es ist schwierig,
den ölbestandteil der Emulsionen von der behandelten Metalloberfläche
allein durch Waschen mit Wasser zu entfernen.

Die In neuerer Zeit eingeführten höheren Geschwindigkeiten bei der
Metallbearbeitung erforderten ein besseres Schmiermittel^ wobei
Eigenschaften, wie die Leichtigkeit der Handhabung, die Wasserlöslichkeit, die Stabilität und die Kühleigenschaften verbessert
sind. Es wurden einige verbesserte Schmiermittel vorgeschlagen, , die hauptsächlich aus Polyoxyalkylenglykolen bestehen. Solche ver-
: besserten Schmiermittel sind zufriedenstellend in den meisten der
loben erwähnten Eigenschaften, jedoch haben sie viel geringere ■.Schmiereigenschaften als die Schmiermittel vom Emulsionstyp, was
nachteilige Wirkungen auf die Qualität von Metallprodukten und auf die Wirksamkeit der Metallbearbeitungsgänge unter hoher Geschwindigkeit
und schwerer Belastung hat. Ausserdem zeigen die 'Schmiermittel vom Polyoxyalkylenglykol-Typ den Nachteil einer hohen
Toxizität gegenüber Fischen und eine geringe biologische Abbaubarkeit. Sie bewirken somit eine Wasserverschmutzung, wenn sie
beispielsweise für das Erbohren von Ölvorkommen unter Wasser \ benutzt werden oder nach ihrer Verwendung in Fabriken in einen
Fluss abgelassen werden.
Ziel der Erfindung sind Schmiermittel mit verbesserten Eigenschaften,
insbesondere stabile wässrige Schmiermittel mit guten Schmier- |mittelelgenschaften und weiterhin wässrige Schmiermittel mit ge~
:ringer Toxizität für Fische und hochgradiger biologischer Abbaubarkeit.
!Diese und andere Ziele, die im folgenden noch deutlicher zum Aus-
\druck kommen, können allgemein durch Schmiermittel erreicht wer-
,den, welche eine anionische Verbindung der folgenden Formel I enthalten:
worin die Gruppen R^ unabhängig voneinander Wasserstoff oder organische
Gruppen mit einem Kohlenwasserstoffrest von 1 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeuten können, wobei diese Gruppen direkt oder durch ·
die Gruppe -fOA..-}— an Rp gebunden sein können, wobei wenigstens eine
der Gruppen R1 eine organische Gruppe mit einem Kohlenwasserstoff-

rest von 11 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R„ den Rest einer Verbindung
mit 3 bis 8 aktiven Wasserstoffatomen bedeutet, OA. und ApO
unabhängig voneinander Oxyalkylengruppen mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeuten, M eine einwertige salzbildende Gruppe ist, ρ und
.- q unabhängig voneinander eine Zahl von 0 bis 40 bedeuten., vorausgesetzt,
dass die Gesamtzahl der Gruppen OA. und A?0 3 bis ho be-
' trägt, und m und η unabhängig voneinander die Zahl 1 oder eine
höhere Zahl bedeuten, vorausgesetzt, dass m+n 3 bis 8 ist.
In der Formel I ist R~ der Rest einer Verbindung mit 3 bis 8 reaktiven
Wasserstoffatomen, wobei der Rest die Gruppe bedeutet, die
man durch Eliminierung der aktiven Wasserstoffatome von der Verbin-
! dutog mit 3 bis 8 reaktiven Wasserstoffatornen erhält. Zu solchen,"
reaktiven Wasserstoff enthaltenden Verbindungen gehören beispielsweise mehrwertige Alkohole, mehrwertige Phenole, Ammoniak, Polyamine,
Aminosäuren., Polycarbonsäuren, Polyhydroxycarbonsäuren, Amide und Polymercaptane. Zu den mehrwertigen Alkoholen gehören
beispielsweise Glycerin, Trimethyloläthan, Trimethylolpropan, Pentaerythrit, Polyglycerin, Sorbitan, Sorbit, Mannitan, Mannit ■
und Sucrose. Zu den mehrwertigen Phenolen gehören beispielsweise
Phloroglucin, Brenzcatechin, Resorcin und 2,2-Bis-(dioxy~
phenyl)-propan. Zu den Polyaminen gehören beispielsweise Äthylen-.
diamin, Triäthylendiamin, Tetraäthylenpentamin, Hexamethylendiamin,
Phenylendiamin, Methylendiphenylendiamin, Monoäthanolamin, Diätha-
; nolamin, Aminophenol, Harnstoff, Thioharnstoff, Guanidin und Di- ' ;
cyandiamid. Zu den Polycarbonsäuren und Polyhydroxycarbonsäuren,
' die beide jeweils 3 bis 8 reaktive Wasserstoffatome enthalten,
gehören beispielsweise Pyromellithsäure, Trimellithsäure, Spfel-
:säure. Weinsäure und Citronensäure. Zu den Aminosäuren mit 3 bis
' reaktiven Wasserstoffatomen gehören beispielsweise Glycin, Alanin,
Glutaminsäure und Asparaginsäure. Zu den Amiden mit 3 bis 8 reaktiven Wasserstoffatomen gehören beispielsweise Oxalamid, Malonamid,
Succinamid, Adipamid, Phthalamid und Hydroxybenzoesäureamid.
Die bevorzugten reaktiven Wasserstoff enthaltenden Verbindungen sind mehrwertige Alkohole und Polyamine. Die besonders 'bevorzugten■
sind mehrwertige Alkohole und Polyamine mit 4 bis 8 reaktiven Was- ;
serstoffatomen. ' .

In der Formel I bedeuten die Gruppen "^OA^-^- und ^ApO·)-· eine Oxy-
■ alkylengruppe. Zu den Oxyalkylengruppen gehören beispielsweise
:Oxyäthylen (ÄO), Oxypropylen (PO), Oxybutylen und Oxytetramethy-
;len. Es können wenigstens zwei Arten von Oxyalkylengruppen in
I Form eines statistischen oder eines Blockpolymeren verwendet wer-

ι bekannten Methoden durchgeführt werden. So kann die Blockierüngs-
! reaktion zwischen einer Hydroxylgruppe und einer Carboxylgruppe
!.durch' übliche Veresterung erfolgen. Die Blockierung der Hydroxyl-
! oder Carboxylgruppe mit einem Kohlenwasserstoffhalogenid kann
; durch Umsetzung der Gruppe mit einem Alkalimetall oder einem Hyjdroxyd
davon und ahschliessender Reaktion.mit dem Kohlenwasser-I
stoffhalogenid bei einer Temperatur von 50 bis 1500C durchgeführt

Die anionische Verbindung der Formel I, wie sie nach den obigen Arbeitsweisen hergestellt werden kann,, hat gute Wasserlöslichkeit
!oder Emulgierbarkeit, gute Schmiereigenschaften, gute Kühleigen-I
schäften und gute Detergentien/ vxe Wahl der oben erwähnten vier
S Gruppen kann den anionischen Verbindungen die gewünschte geringe

Toxizität für Fische., eine hohe biologische Abbaubarkeit, geringe
j Schaumbildungseigenschaften und gute korrosionsinhibierende Eigen-
■ schäften verleihen. Daher ist die anionische Verbindung geeignet ;
j als Schmiermittel, insbesondere als wässriges Schmiermittel.
! Das Schmiermittel der Erfindung kann aus der obigen anionischen
I Verbindung allein bestehen, enthält jedoch im allgemeinen die
janionische Verbindung und ein herkömmliches Verdünnungsmittel. Die
S Menge an anionischer Verbindung kann über einen weiten Bereich Ischwanken, je nach dem Verwendungszweck des Schmiermittels. Im all-
■ gemeinen werden 0,1 bis 99 Ge\i.-%3 vorzugsweise 0,3 bis 50 und ins-•
besondere 0,5 bis 10 Gew.-^, verwendet, bezogen auf das Gesamtgelwicht
der Schmiermittelzusammensetzung. Das Verdünnungsmittel ist ■beispielsweise Wasser, Glykole (Äthylenglykol, Propylenglykol und
jdergl.), Glykoläthor, Polyoxyalkylenglykole (Molekulargewicht
j 200 bis 10 000), Äther davon, Mineralöle und pflanzliche Öle. Be-Ivorzugt
sind Wasser und ein Gemisch von Wasser und organischem !Verdünnungsmittel, überdies können verschiedene herkömmliche Zu-Isätze
in das Schmiermittel der Erfindung eingebracht werden, zweckimassig
in einer Menge von 0,1 bis 30 Gew.-%t bezogen auf das Ge- j
!samtgewicht des Schmiermittels. Typische Zusätze sind Antioxydan- .

itien, z.B. Phenyl-oü-naphthylamin, Di-n-butylamin, 2,^-Dimethyl-ö- '·.
[tert.-butylphenol oder 4,4-Butyliden-bis-6-tert.-butyl-m-kresol; \

Korrosionsinhibitoren, wie Alkanolamine einschliesslich von Mono-, ;
[Di- und Triäthanolaminen), Morpholin, Cyclohexylamin, Benzotriazol
oder Mercaptobenzotriazol; Rostinhibitoren, wie Fettsäuren, Fettamine,
Fettalkohole, Alkylphosphonate, Alkylsulfonate und Alkanolamine. Schliesslich können auch Mittel für extreme Drücke (EP-Mittel),
wie Alkylphosphat oder Alkylphosphit sowie Bakterieide, wie Formalin, Dijodmethyl-p-tolylsulfon oder Dijodmethylchlorphenylsulfon
eingebracht werden. ·
Das Schmiermittel der Erfindung ist vorzugsweise in Anwendungsgebieten
eingesetzt, welche gute Schmierfähigkeit erfordern, wie Idie Metallbearbeitung (Ziehen, Schneiden, Schleifen t Abschrecken
lund Walzen und dergl.), beim Erbohren von Ölvorkommen und in der
j Flaschenabfüllung. Es kann auch als Schmiermittelkomponente von

I Hydraulikflüssigkeiten verwendet werden. "

j Tabelle 1 zeigt einige Eigenschaften der anionischen Verbindungen
ι (A - K) gemäss der Erfindung sowie einiger herkömmlicher Verbindungen
(a - c) als Schmiermittel. Die Eigenschaften wurden wie !folgt bestimmt:

: Beobachtung geprüft. ■
j (2) Schmierfähigkeit für Metall (Reibungskoeffizient μ):
j Der Reibungskoeffizient für Metall wurde mit dem Shell 4-Kugelj
.Schmierprüfgerät für Extremdruck für 1 Gew.-$ige wässrige Lö-
' sungen'unter 60 UpM und 100 kg Belastung gemessen. ·.

j (3) Toxizität für Fische: . j
ί ■ Je 4 Testfische (Killifisch^ d.h. Kärpfling) wurden 2k Stunden j
j bei 20 bis 28°C in Behältern gehalten, die 11 der wässrigen
\ Lösung in der Verbindung in verschiedenen Konzentrationen ent
j hielten. Die Toxizität für Fische wurde durch die Konzentra-
! tion in ppm wiedergegeben, iDeiwelcher die Hälfte der Testfische
j starben.
■ In der Tabelle A wurde die Verbindung A hergestellt durch Zu-
j. gäbe von 10 Mol Äthylenoxyd an Pentaerythritdioleat bei 1300C,
I Sulfatieren mit Chlorsulfonsäure bei 200C und Neutralisieren
1 mit Triäthanolamin (TA). :

1 Die Verbindung E wurde hergestellt durch Zugabe von 20 Mol
Äthylenoxyd an Pentaerythrit bei .1300C, Verestern mit 2 Mol
ölsäure bei 150°C, Sulfatieren mit Chlorsulfonsäure bei 20°C
und Neutralisieren mit Triäthanolamin. Die Verbindungen B-D,

F und H - K in Tabelle 1 waren nach der gleichen Methode wie die
!Verbindung A hergestellt. Die Verbindung G in Tabelle 1 wurde nach !der gleichen Methode wie die Verbindung E hergestellt.
