"Zellenpolster sowie Verfahren und Vorrichtung
zu ihrer Herstellung"
Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Zellenpolster, ein Verfahren sowie eine Vorrichtung für dessen Herstellung.
Den einschlägigen Stand der Technik zeigen die US-PS 3 392 08I;
3 415 711; 3 4o5 o2o; 3 514 362; 3 5o8 992 und 3 616 155 betreffend
zellenförmig aufgebautes Polstermaterial, das im wesentlichen aus einer ebenen Lage und einer weiteren, mit einer
Mehrzahl eingeformter Vertiefungen besteht, die mit Luft gefüllt sind. Ursprünglich wurden solche Polsterungen einfach durch
Wärmeeinwirkung und Anseten von Vakuum gegen eine Kunststofffolie erhalten, während an die Folie eine Tiefprägwalze angelegt
wird, und diese tief geprägte Folie von der Prägewalze auf der offenen Folienseite mit einer flachen Folie abgedeckt wird,
um die Luft in den offenen Tiefprägungen einzuschließen.
In der Praxis bedeutet eine solche Arbeitsweise mit jeweiligem Erwärmen und Kühlen der Folie während des Tiefpräge- und Laminierungsvorgangs

Prozeß. Es muß auch j-edesmal, wenn ein Wechsel im Prägemuster
nach Größe und/oder Form nötig ist, eine entsprechend kostspielige Walze gewählt werden.
Der Erfindung liegt danach die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Zellenpolster
zur Verfügung zu stellen und dazu geeignete Wege und Mittel vorzuschlagen, wobei die Schichtbildung von mindestens
zwei sich überlagernden, flachen Lagen aus flexiblen, wasserdichten, endlosen Bahnen dicht entlang ausgewählten, fortlaufenden
Bereichen, die den Umfang einer Mehrzahl von Taschen begrenzen, zusammengeschweißt werden.
In diesen Taschen ist ein Fluid unter Druck so enthalten, daß die Bereiche der obenliegenden Lagen, die nicht verschweißt
sind, die die äußeren Wandungen der betreffenden Taschen bilden, voneinander gebogen und in gestrafftem Zustand sind. Mindestens
eine der obenliegenden Lagen ist eine Folie aus orientierbarem, thermoplastischem Polymer, wobei die unverschweißten
Bereiche dieser Folie zumindest teilweise geschrumpft sind von einem molekular orientiertem Zustand.
Das zellenförmige Polsterungsgebilde kann mehr als zwei obenliegende
Lagen haben und bei solchem Aufbau sind mindestens die äußeren der Auflagen Folien aus orientierbarem, thermoplastischem
Polymer und sind mindestens teilweise durch Formschwindung geschrumpft aus einem molekular orientierten Status.
Bei dem Verfahren nach vorliegender Erfindung ist ein Fluidum

- 3 unter einem gegenüber der umgebenden Atmosphäre höheren Druck zwischen mindestens zwei übereinanderliegenden, flexiblen,
flüssigkeitsdichten Lagen, wobei mindestens eine dieser Lagen eine Folie aus polymerem thermoplastischem Material mit Molekülorientierung
ist, mindestens längs einer seiner Axialrichtungen, enthalten. Diese Lagen sind hermetisch in bestimmten,
fortlaufenden Bereichen miteinander verschweißt, die den Umfang einer Mehrzahl individueller Taschen begrenzen, in denen das
enthaltene Fluid eingeschlossen ist. Dann werden die unverschweißten Bereiche des molekular orientierten Filmes erhitzt,
um schließlich ein mindestens teilweises Schrumpfen derselben zu erreichen.
Vorzugsweise bestehen mindestens beide äußersten Decklagen der Folien aus einem thermoplastischen polymeren Material, in dem
die Moleküle entweder einachsig oder zweiachsig, vorzugsweise im gleichen Grade, orientiert sind. Verwendet man einachsig
orientierte Filme, so kann sich eine solche Orientierung in der
gleichen Richtung verlaufen, wie auch jeweils in rechtem Winkel zueinander.
Bei Gebilden mit mehr als zwei übereinanderliegenden Lagen, können die Zwischenlagen auch aus polymerem thermoplastischem,
aus ein- oder zweiachsig orientiertem Material bestehen. Das Maß der Orientierung solcher Zwischenlagen kann das gleiche
sein wie für die äußeren Lagen und, falls einachsig orientiert, kann die Orientierung praktisch in rechten Winkeln zur Orien-

tierungsrichtung, wie sie in den äußeren Lagen vorhanden ist, verlaufen. Das Erhitzen der unverschweißten Bereiche der molekular
orientierten Polymerfolien ist vorzugsweise so, daß ein
vollkommenes Schrumpfen erzielt wird aus dem molekular orientierten Zustand, ohne daß dieser Film schmilzt. Auf diese Weise
wird in den betreffenden Taschen das Fluid dicht eingeschlossen, wobei sich die Außenwandungen dieser Taschen auseinanderbiegen
und in prall gefülltem Zustand.
Ein Zellenpolster nach der Erfindung kann in fortlaufendem Arbeitsgang
hergestellt werden, etwa derart, daß man fortlaufend Teile zweier gesonderter molekular orientierter thermoplastischer
Polymerfolien übereinanderbringt und sie nacheinander an Längskanten vor und gleichzeitig mit dem Einbringen eines Fluides
unter Druck zwischen beide, verschweißt, dann dicht nach gewählten Richtungen, um Taschen abzugrenzen, hermetisch schweißt,
die das zwischen den Lagen eingeschlossene Fluid enthalten, und dann die unverschweißten Bereiche der molekular orientierten
Folien so erhitzt, daß deren Schrumpfen erreicht wird.
Anstatt besondere endlose Folienbahnen gemäß obengenannter fortlaufender
Herstellungsweise zu verwenden, kann man auch einen rohrförmigen, orientierten Polymerfolienkörper, der im Strangformprozeß
endlos erhalten ist, z.B. gemäß US-PS 3 555 6o3 längs aufschlitzen, um ein Fluid unter Druck zuzuführen, und
dann zuzuschweißen und zu schrumpfen, wie vorstehend beschrieben.

Jedes thermoplastische polymere Material, das orientiert werden kann, läßt sich für das Verfahren und für Zellenpolster nach der
Erfindung verwenden. Zu derartigen polymeren Thermoplasten gehören beispielsweise Polyäthylen, Polypropylen, Polyester, unter
dem Handelsnamen Nylon bekannte Polyamide, Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidene. Bei Polstergebilden nach der Erfindung mit mehr
als zwei Decklagen können die Zwischenschichten aus jedwedem durchgehendem flexiblem Bahnmaterial gebildet sein, die ihrerseits
oder deren Bekleidungen miteinander wärmeverschweißbar sind und ebenso mit den Außenlagen. Derartige Zwischenlagen
müssen nicht unbedingt flüssigkeitsdicht sein und können sonach aus z.B. Papieren, einem Zellglas oder Geweben bestehen, aber
vorzugsweise bestehen solche Zwischenschichten aus einem polymeren Thermoplasten oben beschriebener Eigenschaften. Bei einem
solchen Aufbau ist die Unverletzbarkeit jeder einzelnen Tasche unabhängig von den übrigen, das bedeutet, daß ein Fluidverlust
in einer durch Aufreißen der Hüllwand kein Entweichen von Fluidum
aus anderen Taschen zur Folge hat.
Als einschließendes Fluid zwischen den Taschenwandungen kommt bevorzugt ein Gas in Betracht, das nicht mit dem Material der
Taschenhülle reagiert und aus Wirtschaftlichkeitsgründen und wegen seiner guten Wärmeisolierung vor allem Luft. Gewünschtenfalls
kann man dieses Fluid vor dem Einfüllen in die Taschen auch unter Raumtemperatur kühlen, damit es unter noch höherem
Druck steht, sobald es unter Einfluß der Umgebungstemperatur sich ausdehnt.

- 6 Taschenumhüllung und/oder eingeschlossenes Medium können auch für dekorative Wirkung gefärbt sein oder zwecks gewisser Kenntlichmachung
des fertigen Polstergebildes.
Zwecks Einfachheit wird in nachstehender näherer Beschreibung auf Polsterungen mit Luftfüllung der Taschen Bezug genommen, wie
sie durch hermetisches Zuschweißen von Deckfolien aus polymeren Thermoplasten erhalten wurden und wobei die Außenlagen aus molekular
in praktisch gleichem Ausmaß in nur einer Querrichtung orientiertem Material bestehen.
Die Zeichnung zeigt
in Figur 1 eine schematische Längsansicht eine zur praktischen Ausführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens anzuwendende Anlage,
in Figur 2 eine Draufsicht auf die Anlage nach Figur 1,
Figur 3 zeigt eine Teilansicht eines Teiles einer Vorrichtung zur Herstellung einer besonderen Ausführungsform einer Polsterlage
nach der Erfindung und
Figur 4 einen Querschnitt durch einen Teil der Ausführungsform eines Zellenpolstergebildes, wie man es mit der Vorrichtung nach
Fig. 3 erhält.
Gemäß Figuren 1 und 2 wird im praktischen Betrieb gemäß Erfindung so verfahren, daß man ein Paar fortlaufender Folienbahnen
11 und 13 von einer Vorratsstelle, z.B. von Bobinen - nicht dargestellt - so abzieht, daß sie in Deckung in den Spalt der
Druckwalzen 15 einlaufen und in den Spalt des Walzenpaares 17
gelangen.

Die Folien sind gleich, z.B. aus Polypropylen, wobei die Moleküle bis zu praktisch gleichem Grade in nur Querrichtung orientiert
sind.
Die Walzenpaare 15 und 17 laufen mit wesentlich gleicher Umlaufgeschwindigkeit
mittels geeigneter Antriebe und beim Durchlauf der Folien wird ein Paar der Längskanten dieser übereinanderliegenden
Folien 11 und 13, etwa durch Mitwirkung elektrisch beheizter Schweißrollen, zusammengeschweißt.
Hinter den Förderwalzen 17 - in Laufrichtung - führt ein langes Düsenstück 21 zwischen die noch unverschweißten Ränder der
Folien 11 und 13 in generell senkrechter Richtung zur Laufrichtung.
Dem Düsenstück zugeführte Preßluft wird von diesem durch eine Mehrzahl von Düsenköpfen 23 zwischen die übereinandergelegten
Folienbahnen eingeblasen und zwar in Förderrichtung. Ein Rollenpaar 25 drückt die noch unverschweißten Ränder der Folien
11 und 13 vor Annäherung an das Düsenstück 21 zusammen und ein Paar beheizter Rollen 27 verschweißt diese Ränder sofort miteinander,
wenn sie hinter das Düsenstück gelangen. Durch diese Anordnung ist ein Entweichen von Luft aus dem Raum zwischen den
übereinanderliegenden Folien auf ein Mindestmaß begrenzt; falls gewünscht oder notwendig, können sich die Preßrollen 25 über
die ganze Folienbahnbreite erstrecken.
Eine Reihe gleichermaßen elektrisch beheizter ist in gleichen Ab-
-:tündon ^n den Wellen 31 angebracht, um die übereinanderliegenden

Folien 11 und 13 in seitlich im Abstand bestimmten Abständen wie
bei 33 in Fig. 2 zu sehen - aneinanderzuheften, -wenn die Folien relativ dazu vorwärts befördert werden. Mit fortschreitendem
Weiterlauf werden die Folienbahnen quer zur Bahnrichtung in gewissen Breitenabständen miteinander verschweißt, wie bei 35 zu
sehen, und zwar durch elektrisch beheizte Schweißscheiben 37, die
über den Umfang der Rollen 39 hinausragen.
In diesem Stadium hat das Produkt 41 Zellenstruktur mit Einschließung
der anfänglich zwischen die Folienbahnen 11 und 13 eingeführten Luft in nunmehr den einzelnen Taschen, deren IM-fangslinien
bestimmt sind durch die umschweißten Bereiche 33 und 35. Die unverschweißt gebliebenen Bereiche 45 bilden die sich
gegenüberliegenden Wandungen der jeweiligen Taschen 43 und in diesem Stadium zeigen diese Wandungen 45 ggf. eine gewisse
Schlaffheit.
Es wird deshalb nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren das zellen-
in förmig aufgeteilte Erzeugnis 41 fortlaufend in und durch/einen
Heizraum 47 geleitet, in dem die unverschweißten, molekülarorientierten
Abschnitte 45 schnell erhitzt werden und nur in einem Maß, das ihr Schrumpfen veranlaßt. Die Temperatur dieser Erhitzung
des Materiales 41 in diesem Arbeitsschritt hängt von Faktoren, wiejeweils verarbeitetes thermoplastisches Material, vom
Grad des ursprünglichen Materialorientierungsmaßes und von dem jeweils gewünschten Schrumpfungsgrad ab.

Das Erhitzen in diesem Stadium erfolgt sehr schnell und für kurze Dauer, damit die eingeschlossene Luft in den Taschen keine
oder nur geringe Ausdehnung erfährt. Man muß jedenfalls darauf achten, daß an irgendeiner Stelle des Produktes 41 etwa ein
Schmelzen eintritt.
Das fortlaufend aus dem Erhitzungsraum 47 ausgeförderte Produkt 47 kühlt durch die Ungebungsatmosphäre ab und wird - von nicht
gezeigten, üblichen Einrichtungen - aufgesammelt. Der Schrumpfungsprozess im Erhitzungsraum oder "Ofen" 47 bewirkt, daß irgendwelche
Schlaffheit, wie sie bisher bei oder an den Lufttaschenwänden aufgetreten sein mag, klar beseitigt ist. Das Volumen
jeweils der einzelnen Taschen 43 ist so reduziert und damit die in sie eingefüllte Luft komprimiert, vorzugsweise in.solchem
Maße, daß die Wandungen jeder Tasche durch pralle Füllung gespannt sind.
Vorzugsweise keilt man die Scheiben 29 lösbar auf den Wellen fest und trennt sie durch Distanzstücke, um Variationen in der
Anzahl dieser Scheiben vornehmen zu können.
Auf diese Weise kann man die Größe der Taschen 43 je nach besonderen
Erfordernissen ändern. Ein Variieren der Taschen 43 kann man anderenfalls durch Austausch der Scheibenrollen 39 durch
solche mit einer größeren Zahl radial heranstehenden Schweißplatten erzielen.

Das vorstehend beschriebene Verfahren kann etwas geändert werden, um Zellengebilde mit mehr als zwei Hüllenschichten zu erhalten.
So kann man z.B. eine nicht orientierte Folie 51, die beidseitig von einadrig orientierten Folien 53 und 55 bedeckt ist längs einer
Längskante dieser durch Schweißrollen 19 zusammenschweißen, wenn solche Folien durch Klemmrollen 15 und 17 laufen, wonach Preßluft
zwischen jedem Paar sich gegenüberliegender Folien enthalten sein kann.
Wie Fig. 3 zeigt, kann man diesen Vorgang nur dadurch vornehmen,
daß man ein gabelförmiges Düsenstück 57 verwendet, wodurch Luft gleichzeitig zwischen die gegenüberliegenden Folien gelangt, sobald
sie die Klemmrollenpaare 25 durchlaufen und die beheizten Kantenverschweißrollen 27. Ist die Lufteinführung abgeschlossen,
dann werden die Folien längs und quer - wie oben - miteinander verschweißt und zwecks Schrumpfung erhitzt, wie oben zu Fig. 1
und 2 erläutert.
Das Zellengebilde, wie es nach dieser Ausführungsform erhalten wird, ist durch Fig. 4 veranschaulicht; es ist mit 59 bezeichnet
und weist voneinander abgeschlossene Taschen 61 und 63 auf, deren Außenwandungen durch eingebrachte Luft prall gefüllt sind;
hierbei sind die nicht miteinander verschweißten Bereiche der zwischengeordneten Folie 51 Wandungen, die gemeinsam sind für
die gegenüberliegenden Taschen 61 und 63. Auf diese Weise führt ein Aufplatzen der Aussenwandungen jeder solcher Taschen nicht
zur Beschädigung der anderen solcher übereinanderliegender

- 11 Taschen.
Bei den obenbeschriebenen Arbeitsvorgängen muß das Längs- und Querzusammenschweißen nicht unbedingt nacheinander erfolgen,
sondern kann auch gleichzeitig vor sich gehen, wie z.B. indem man solche Folien durch ein Rollenpaar leitet, das in Abständen
angeordnete Längs- und Querrippen hat. Schließlich muß das Verschweißen der Folien nicht in Achsenrichtungen erfolgen, sondern
kann auch im Winkel zu den Kalten, z.B. in sich schneidenden Diagonalverläufen gefüttert werden.

Claims (11)
- Ansprüche( 1/ Zellenpolster, dadurch gekennzeich net, daß es aus einer Laminierung aus mindestens zwei endlosen, flexiblen, feuchtigkeitsundurchlässigen Lagen besteht, von denen mindestens eine aus orientierbarem thermoplastischem, polymeren Material besteht, die übereinandergelegten Folienlagen nach bestimmten fortlaufenden Bereichen zur Begrenzung der Umgrenzung einer Mehrzahl von Taschen verschweißt sind, in die eingeschlossenes Fluid, wie ein Gas unter Druck eingefüllt ist.derart, daß die äußeren Taschenwandungen auseinandergebogen und in prallem Zustand sind und die nicht miteinander verschweißten Folienbereiche aus dem orientierbaren thermoplastischen Material mindestens teilweise aus dem molekularorientierten Zustand geschrumpft sind.
- 2. Zellenpolster nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß drei endlose Lagen übereinander gebracht sind, von denen mindestens die äußeren Folienlagen aus polymerem, thermoplastischen Material bestehen und beide äußeren aufgeblähten Taschenwände in mindestens teilweise gegenüber dem orientierten Zustand geschrumpfter Form vorliegen.
- 3. Verfahren zum Herstellen von Polstergebilden nach Anspruch 1, dadur.ch gekennzeichnet, daß man bei einer Fluidfüllung mit höherem als Atmosphärendruck zwischen min-309882/0998destens zwei übereinanderliegenden Folienlagen, deren Folie Molekülarorientierung mindestens einer Achse nach aufweist, die übereinandergelegten Folienbahnen längs der gewünschten Taschenbereiche zuschweißt und damit in den gebildeten Taschen das Fluid einschließt und die nicht verschweißten Bereiche des molekularorientierten Folienmateriales zwecks seiner Schrumpfung erhitzt.
- 4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß man je zwei Lagen verwendet und beide Lagen aus dieser Folie bestehen.
- 5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Folien in der gleichen Richtung, wie biaxial, und im wesentlichen in gleichem Grade orientiert sind.
- 6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Folien gleichachsig orientiert sind, wobei die Orientierung einer Folie im wesentlichen in rechten Winkeln zu der anderen verläuft.
- 7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß das Fluid zwischen jedem Paar einer Reihe von Paaren überexnanderliegender Lagen enthalten ist, wobei mindestens die beiden äußersten Lagen Folien aus min-309882/0998— λ* —
JNdestens einachsig orientiertem polymeren thermoplastischem Material sind. - 8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Zwischenlage eine nicht orientierte Lage aus polymeren Thermoplast ist.
- 9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7 oder δ, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die äußeren Folien molekular, z.B. einachsig in gleicher Richtung und praktisch in gleichem Maß orientiert sind.
- 10. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß die Zwischenlage eine biaxial orientierte Folie aus polymeren, thermoplastischen Material ist.
- 11. .Vorrichtung zur Herstellung von Zellpolstern nach Ansprüchen1-3 bestehend aus Einrichtungen zur Zuführung und Förderung von mindestens zwei üb ereinanderzul eg enden Lagen -von Folien, Einrichtungen zur fortschreitenden Verschweißung derselben bei Anordnung von Einrichtungen zur Einbringung eines Fluides unter Druck zwischen die vorrückenden Doppellagen im Gleichtakt mit deren Verschweißung und Einrichtungen zum hermetischen Zuschweißen der verschweißten Doppellagen in bestimmten Zwischenbereichen, sowie Einrichtungen zur Er-309882/0998/srhitzung der unverschweißten Bereiche von thermoplastischem, polymeren Folienmaterial.3Ü9882/0998Leerseite
