Description

The invention relates to a method for measuring a mass Stromes according to the Coriolis principle and a mass flow meter device that works on this principle.

Measuring devices for measuring the mass flow of flowing media such as Liquids, gases, sludges or the like have been around for a long time known later. An example of such a measuring device is described in EP 0 109 218 T1. Two U-shaped, parallel arranged tubes are in the manner of a tuning fork with a electromagnetic vibrators in their first reso offset mode offset. A flowing through the pipes Mass flow creates Coriolis forces that the pipe in the second Deflect resonance mode elastically deflect las sen. The deflection is directly proportional to the flow through mass flow.

From US-A-5,129,263 is a measuring device with an S-shaped Measuring tube become known, the one with the above Direction comparable functionality. The pipe will with two vibrators to vibrate in the first reso nanzschwingungs Modus excited, which the parallel Schwingungsbe represents movement of the middle straight pipe section. The Coriolis distraction  is described and represents here as a rotational movement about the central axis also represents the second resonance mode.

Measuring devices with straight measuring tubes are in EP 0 578 113 A2, DE 36 32 851 C2 and in US-A-4,703,660. With all these measuring devices, the measuring tubes are in their Middle area excited in the first resonance mode and the Coriolis forces bend that Measuring tube in the second resonance mode, which is approximately the same for the straight measuring tube represents sinusoidal wave motion.

A method for measuring a mass flow according to the Coriolis principle is thus known which the mass flow when flowing through a vibrating measuring tube Coriolis forces produce a deflection of the measuring tube, which is dependent on the mass flow and by means of of a sensor is detected.

Furthermore, a mass flow device based on the Coriolis principle is known, which has a measuring tube, a holding device that supports the measuring tube at both ends and a feed line and forms a derivation for a mass flow through the measuring tube, at least one Vibration generator for the measuring tube, at least one sensor that detects the deflections of the Measuring tube detected due to Coriolis forces, and a converter for converting the Has sensor signal in a mass flow signal.

The center of the measuring tube is fixed by a bracket. Thereby its displacement during vibration is prevented, so that there is a vibration dead center. The one curved tube section of the measuring tube is in through a vibration generator Vibration is offset while the vibration is at the same frequency on the other bent pipe section transmits. The two pipe ends are not vibrated. Sensors in the area of the bent pipe sections measure the torsional deflection of the Measuring tube due to the Coriolis forces.

Die Auswertung erfolgt durch Summierung oder durch Differenzbildung der beiden Messwerte der Piezoelemente.DE 43 27 052 C3 relates to a mass flow device which has an S-shaped Coriolis line has, which represents the vibratable and deformable measuring line. On her two outside The Coriolis cable is clamped in two clamping points. Two as piezo elements Trained transducers are arranged so that they have on the one hand at their ends the middle leg and on the other hand each with one of the two outer legs  S-shaped Coriolis line are connected. At every vertex of the S-shaped Coriolis A vibration generator is arranged in the line. The excitation of the S-shaped Coriolis line takes place in such a way that the excitation vibration lies in the plane of the S-shaped Coriolis line. Due to the Coriolis forces, the one piezo element is stretched by stretching forces while at the same time the other piezo element is compressed by compressive forces. The Evaluation takes place by summation or by forming the difference between the two measured values of the Piezo elements.

For a mass flow measurement with the described arrangement, it is necessary that the Entire S-shaped Coriolis line vibrates and in response to the Coriolis forces is deformable.

US 4,781,069 discloses a mass flow meter with a pair in parallel arranged and spaced apart loop-shaped measuring tubes, the parallel Form mass flow paths, their respective pipe ends rotatably via brackets and Plates are connected, the predetermined stiffness properties in the direction of the X, Y and Z Have axes. The areas of the measuring tubes between the tube ends are determined using Vibration generators set in an excitation vibration to each other. One through the measuring tubes guided mass flow causes a deflection of the aforementioned areas of the measuring tubes to each other due to Coriolis forces generated by the mass flow.

The measuring devices described in the cited documents have the same, below listed problems and disadvantages.

The pipe stiffness, the resonance frequencies and the amount of deflection or bending through the Coriolis forces are interdependent. Therefore, it is not possible to have smaller ones Measuring devices with higher resonance frequencies and larger Coriolis  To build distractions. This problem is solved using a measuring device tes explained with a U-shaped measuring tube. Given the material of the pipe (e.g. stainless steel), for a given diameter and given wall thickness, the stiffness depends only on the length ge of the U-shaped tube. A long U-shaped tube has an egg low rigidity and therefore a low resonance frequency and it shows a great response to Coriolis forces. A little nes or short tube has a high rigidity, a high reso frequency and low response to Coriolis forces. There normal electrical drives and system components with a frequency of usually between 20 and 150 Hz testify and measuring instruments should therefore avoid this frequency range should be a mass based on the Coriolis principle flow meter higher resonance frequencies than 150 Hz sen. Then, however, the rigidity is relatively high and the on speak or the reaction to Coriolis forces comparatively low, so that high-resolution converters are required however, are expensive. Therefore, U- or S-shaped measuring tubes have the first Excitation resonance frequencies of around 70-90 Hz.

The measuring devices of the above-mentioned documents measure the mass flow directly. However, since they use the first resonance vibration mode for excitation and the second resonance vibration mode for Coriolis deflections, they have a dynamic amplification factor that makes the measuring devices dependent to a certain extent on the density of the mass flow. The dynamic amplification factor is defined (see: H. Raszillier, N. Alleborn and F. Durst: Mode Mixing in Coriolis flowmeters, Applied Mechanics 63 ( 1993 ) 219-227, equation 29) as:

Y = 2/(1 - fc2/fe2)
Y = 2 / (1 - fc 2 / fe 2 )

Dann ist jedoch die Form vollständig abhängig von physikali schen Gesetzen, die relativ große und damit schwere und teuere Meßgeräte bedingen.where fc is the resonance frequency of the Coriolis vibration mode and with fe the resonance frequency of the excitation mode is drawing. Since both frequencies coincide with the density of the Ma ssestromes change is the measuring range of the Coriolis measuring device  density dependent. This disadvantage can essentially be attributed to this be overcome that with a given pipe and a given Height of the U-shape a certain width of the U-shape is chosen. Then, however, the form is completely dependent on physics laws that are relatively large and therefore heavy and expensive Condition measuring devices.

The measuring devices described in the above-mentioned publications te use a bending movement or to excite vibrations a mix of bending and torsion. When bending a pipe this gets an oval cross section in the bending area and that The pipe volume thus changes. Therefore, these detectors send or measuring arrangements pulsate their resonance frequency as small de shock waves in the pipe and the connecting pipeline, leading to Reflections on blind flanges and other obstacles and such can lead to self-interference. This broadcast problem is as "cross talk" (ISO 10 790 standard) is known if this results in two measuring devices arranged in series or in parallel affect one another influence. Furthermore, the transmission problem creates a viscosity drop dependency of the measuring devices, because of the volume change Rei exercise arises and therefore the measurement is no longer ideally conserved tiv is.

All these problems arise from the fact that the known measuring devices the first and the second resonance mode use a measuring tube.

The invention is therefore based on the object Method for measuring a mass flow specified above to indicate the Coriolis principle, with which an improved Meßge accuracy can be achieved with reduced measurement effort. It is egg ne further object of the invention, a mass flow To provide measuring device of the above type with an improved structure fen, which is a freer constructive design with improved Measuring ability allowed.

The first-mentioned object is achieved in that the above specified method according to the invention the measuring tube, the reference formed symmetrically at its center and at its two Pipe ends around its center is swingably supported his two tube ends in an excitation vibration around his fellow telpunkt is offset, a mass flow through the measuring tube ge leads, and a deflection of the measuring tube between the raw due to Coriolis generated by the mass flow Forces with at least one sensor is detected. At this In practice, the excitation vibration is caused by the resonance vibration properties of the measuring tube separated and decoupled. Thus, the resonance frequency of the excitation vibration can be independent gig set by the resonance mode of the measuring tube and be adapted to externally introduced interference vibrations, by the frequency of the excitation vibration over the frequencies the interference vibrations is set.

The second object is achieved in that in the above called mass flow meter with the features of the Oberbe handles of claim 3 according to the holding device by the vibration generator into an excitation vibration by one The main axis is offset by the center of the measuring tube res runs so that the tube ends of the measuring tube with the Erre swinging. Here, the holding device can a certain excitation frequency come into resonance oscillation, which is decoupled from the measuring tube to the influence externally to minimize interference vibrations.

Advantageous embodiments of the mass flow meter are specified in the subclaims.

If the holding device by two torsion tubes, the two on the part of the holding device and arranged coaxially to the main axis net and a torsion spring connection with a housing bil which is mounted so that it can swing around the main axis an oscillating measuring arrangement within the housing, in which  the pure torsion of the torsion tubes without their bending Cross-section and volume changes.

The holding device expediently has a central block, on which the torsion tubes are firmly attached, and two themselves extending from the center block and as mass flow lines serving brackets for the measuring tube. The single mentioned Parts can be firmly assembled to the holding device or the holding device is a one-piece casting represents, the mass of the holding device depending can be determined by the desired resonance frequency.

To improve the measurement behavior, compensation of the forces generated in the measuring arrangement are made by two measuring arrangements, each a measuring tube, a holder have direction and two torsion tubes in the housing ne arranged side by side and on the associated torsion tubes are interconnected.

The holding device is preferably rigid in relation to the Torsional rigidity of the torsion tubes is designed to with a Natural frequency to swing, which is higher than the frequency of the Resonance vibration mode of the torsion tubes.

The mass flow meter according to the invention allows one extensive freedom of design. So the measuring tube can be linear trained and symmetrical and in particular perpendicular to Main axis to be arranged. However, instead of the straight form and the arrangement perpendicular to the main axis also arbitrary other shapes and arrangements for the measuring tube and also for the Supply lines in the holding device possible without the Me ß result is adversely affected.

In the mass flow meter according to the invention can thus for vibration excitation two coaxially arranged, from each other spaced torsion tubes may be provided on the more distant  Outer edges rigid in a bracket or housing are attached. In the middle between the two torsion tubes a rigid holding device is arranged on which the inside lying ends of the torsion tubes are rigidly attached. The Holding device is by one or more electromagnetic cal vibration generator in a pure torsional resonance tion excited about the common tube axis, so that the two gate sion tubes act or be used as torsion springs. The Mass flow can be through these two torsion tubes themselves or through a pipe, hose or similar guide in ge within the two torsion tubes and the holding device leads. The rigid holding device holds the measuring tube for the Coriolis deflection preferably perpendicular to the common one central or main axis of the torsion tubes. The measuring tube and the holding device is arranged symmetrically to this axis net. The holding device directs and guides the mass fluid flow to the inlet end and from the outlet end of the measuring tube.

Two of these measuring arrangements can be in a holder or the Housing be arranged side by side and parallel in the sense of egg act a tuning fork for power compensation.

The measuring arrangement is in a pure torsional vibration mode excited, a change in volume of the supply line by deformation or cross-sectional change does not occur. Therefore, it can Meter in the pipeline neither hydraulic self-interference still send cross talk and a viscosity talk addiction does not occur.

The excitation resonance frequency is only affected by the rigidity of the Torsion tubes and the inertia of the holding device finally determined the measuring tube. Therefore, the pathogen frequency as high as necessary to be higher as the usually existing interference vibrations in system parts or the like in the vicinity of the measuring device.

The measuring tube is in through the Coriolis forces of the mass flow deflected and bent in its first resonance mode. This resonance frequency is only from the diameter, the wall strength, the material and the length of the measuring tube determined and can therefore by choosing the shape and material of the torsion tubes can be selected and determined independently. So you can the resonance frequency of the torsion or excitation tubes and the Resonance frequency of the measuring tube can be chosen such that the dynamic gain factor regardless of density con is constant.

Any deformation of the housing of the measuring device over the connected pipelines that are not necessarily symme trical to the axis of the torsion tubes can be single Lich deform the excitation system and not the measuring tube, whereby provided that the holding device is sufficiently rigid is trained. Therefore affect the outside of the measuring device acting forces not the measuring process and the measuring result and do not lead to zero stability problems in practice Operation of the measuring device.

Thus, the measuring device according to the invention generally resolves existing ones Problems with the known, on measurement of Coriolis Force based mass flow meters occur as zero point instability due to external forces, cross talk and Self-interference, low resonance frequencies and density dependence.

In Figs. 1 and 2, an embodiment is illustrated of a contemporary Massedurchflußmeßgerätes OF INVENTION dung. The measuring device has a housing 1 with a measuring arrangement 2 arranged therein, which has a measuring tube 3 and a holding device 4 for the measuring tube 3 . and feed and discharge lines for the mass flow in the form of two torsion tubes 5 , 5 '. The two torsion tubes 5 , 5 'he coaxially along a central or main axis Z of two opposite end walls 6 , 6 ' two z. B. zy-cylindrical housing arms 7 , 7 'against the center of the housing and are rigidly attached to their bushings 8 , 8 ' through the respective end wall 6 and 6 'of the housing arms 7 and 7 '. At their neren, facing ends 9 , 9 ', the torsion tubes 5 , 5 ' on a central block 10 of the holding device 4 are rigidly fixed. The respective rigid attachment of the torsion tubes 5 , 5 'is carried out, for example, by brazing or by welding.

The central block 10 of the holding device 4 has a central hole or a through opening 11 which is aligned at right angles to the main axis Z and through which the measuring tube 3 also runs at right angles to the main axis Z. The diameter of the through opening 11 is chosen to be large enough to allow the measuring tube 3 to oscillate freely in measuring operation without touching the center block 10 . The holding device 4 furthermore has two holding tubes 12 , 12 'which extend from the center block 10 in a common plane radially to the main axis Z in opposite directions, and which together with two holders 13 , 13 ' on the outside End of the holding tube 12 , 12 'are attached to form a flow path for the mass flow, the flow path from the first torsion tube 5 , a deflection channel 14 through 90 ° in the central block 10 , the holding tube 12 , a deflection channel 15 through 180 ° Holder 13 to an inlet end 16 of the measuring tube 3 and from an outlet end 16 'of the measuring tube 3 in the same way through a deflection duct 15 ' through 180 ° in the holder 13 'through the holding tube 12 ' back to a deflection duct 14 'through 90 ° in the middle block 10 and in the torsion tube 5 '. The flow can also take place in the opposite direction.

The holding device 4 is thus connected to the housing 1 only via the two torsion tubes 5 , 5 'and can oscillate about the main axis Z depending on the torsional rigidity of the two torsion tubes 5 , 5 '. All parts of the holding device 4 have a high rigidity and thus higher natural resonance frequencies than the excited torsional oscillation movement of the holding device 4 .

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the holding device 4 from the middle block 10 , the two Hal terohren 12 , 12 'and the two holders 13 , 13 ' together is built. The entire holding device 4 is preferably a one-piece part, which is produced, for example, by casting.

The preferred flow path with straight holding tubes 12 , 12 'and straight measuring tube 3 , which runs perpendicular to the main axis Z, is shown schematically in FIG. 3. However, the measuring tube 3 can cut the main axis Z at an angle and the Hal terohre 12 , 12 'can also extend obliquely to the main axis Z. The mass flow can also take any path within the holding device 4 and the measuring tube 3 can have any shape deviating from the linear shape as long as the shape is symmetrical with respect to the main axis Z. An alternative flow path is shown schematically in Fig. 4 Darge.

Two electromagnetic vibration exciters 17 , 17 'are attached to the holders 13 , 13 ' deflecting the flow and can set the measuring arrangement 2 into an excitation resonance oscillation about the main axis Z. Two sensors 18 , 18 'are assigned to the measuring tube 3 in order to record the deflections of the measuring tube 3 , which are generated by the Coriolis forces and are proportional to the mass flow, in a known manner. The signals from the sensors 18 , 18 'are converted in a known manner into a measurement signal proportional to the mass by means of appropriate circuit electronics.

In addition to the measuring arrangement 2 described , a further glei che measuring arrangement can be arranged in the housing 1 , both working in parallel and they for force compensation on two node or connecting plates 19 , 19 ', with which the torsion tubes 5 and 5 ' of the two measuring arrangements 2nd are interconnected, coupled. In Fig. 2 it is shown how the two measuring arrangements 2 work in the manner of torsion tuning forks, where the arrows E, E 'represent the oscillating movements of the two measuring arrangements 2 due to the excitation vibrations.

In Fig. 5, the deflection of the measuring tube 3 about the main axis Z by the excitation movement (curve a) and a possible Ver deformation of the measuring tube 3 by the Coriolis forces (curve b) over the length of the measuring tube 3 (horizontal axis) is shown schematically ,
