Zwei Spritzen befinden sich in je einer Spritzenaufnahme. In der einen Spritze befindet sich das kernspintaugliche, meist auf Gadolinium basierende Kontrastmittel, in der anderen Spritze befindet sich eine Basislösung, wie z. B. Natriumchlorid zum Spülen des Katheters und Vorschieben des Kontrastmittelbolus durch den Katheter. Angetrieben werden die beiden Spritzen durch einen Stempel an ihrer Austrittsöffnung. Dieser Stempel wird über eine Spindel durch einen Motor angetrieben. Charakteristisch für den Motor ist, daß dieser kernspintauglich ist. Ein solcher Motor ist in der Patentanmeldung 197 09 267.5 beschrieben.There are two syringes in each syringe holder. Der Stempel 4 kann mittels des Motors 3 und einer Achse 5 mittels eines Zahnrades 6 bewegt werden. Dadurch wird die Spritze ausgedrückt. An der Vorderseite der Spritze 9 befindet sich der Auslaß. Die Achse wird durch den in der Patentanmeldung 197 05 267.5 beschriebenen Motor bewegt. Über eine optische Kontrolle, z. B. als Gray code, kann die Position des Motors bestimmt werden. Ab einer bestimmten Kraft dreht aufgrund dieser Kupplung der Motor durch, ohne die Achse zu bewegen.
