Abstract

The input equipment drive arrangement for a key pin (1) consists of an electromagnet to pull the follower (12) and the key pin from the metal housing (3) in which the key pin moves. When the electromagnet is released, the follower returns to its original position. The return lock (13) prevents the key pin slipping back. By pressing on the return lock, from outside, it is released mechanically, so that the spring (14) moves it to the original position. The electromagnet acts on the coil, inside the coil spring, by induction.

Description

The invention relates to an input device for computers according to the preamble of Main claim.

The object of the invention is to change computer graphics data by the user close.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the position of one or more styli ( 1 ) can be changed and this change in position is measured by a device which is described below in subclaims A, B and C.

The possibility of arranging several styli side by side offers the possibility of to scan several spatial points simultaneously. This results in the state of the art extensive possibility for haptic interaction with the stylus, comparable to the mechanical action on a lump of clay.

The preferred arrangement is the line-up as shown in Figure 4, which enables the representation of curves to be as compact as possible.

The extension to the matrix, as shown in Figure 5, gives the possibility to represent complex free forms.

The possibility of attaching a drive unit to a stylus ( 1 ) is shown in Figure 6. The drive happens as follows: The electromagnet attracts the driver ( 12 ) made of metal, whereby the stylus ( 1 ) is moved. The E-magnet is released again, whereby the driver ( 12 ) returns to its starting position and the process can be repeated. The backstop ( 13 ) prevents (1) from sliding back. By pressing the backstop ( 13 ), which is led outwards, it can be released mechanically, causing the stylus ( 1 ) to return to its starting position due to the tensioned tension spring ( 14 ).

Claims (1)

Input device for connection to a computer, characterized by the following features
  • - The entry is made by changing the position of one or more styli ( 1 ) by the user or a corresponding device.
  • - The number and orientation of the stylus can, starting from one, be adapted to the task at hand.
  • - The stylus or styli can be used, if necessary by appropriate additional devices, both for reproducing physical conditions and for interactively changing the representation of the same.
  • - One or more styli can be used as an output device by attaching the associated drive unit ( 2 ), if necessary also at the same time for input.
The main claim is extended by the following sub-claims A, B and C:
A: The displacement of the stylus ( 1 ) relative to the housing ( 3 ) surrounding it is evaluated by the electromagnetic induction of the coil ( 4 ) firmly connected to the stylus ( 1 ). The change in position of the stylus changes the electromagnetic induction on the coil ( 5 ) which is firmly connected to the housing and is shown in section 1 in FIG .
B: The displacement of the stylus ( 1 ) relative to the housing ( 3 ) surrounding it is evaluated by the rotation of the slotted disc ( 6 ) mounted on an axis ( 7 ) which is firmly connected to the housing ( 3 ). Due to the change in position of the stylus, the slotted disc rotates, which in turn repeatedly interrupts the light beam from the light-emitting diode ( 8 ) onto the photocell ( 9 ), as shown in Figure 2.
C: The displacement of the stylus ( 1 ) relative to the housing ( 3 ) surrounding it is evaluated by changing the current strength of the sliding contact ( 10 ) that is firmly connected to the stylus ( 1 ). The position of the stylus changes the position of the sliding contact on the coil ( 11 ) that is firmly connected to the housing, as shown in Figure 3.
