Description

Schleif- bzw. Grinding or polishing body The invention relates to a grinding or polishing body. Polishing body, which in a known manner consists of a pad made of a soft, elastic Foam, e.g. B. a chemically driven, strongly undercrosslinked polyurethane or polyether foam with predominantly closed cells, one on this pad applied in a spread adhesive layer made of a rubber elastic, waterproof Fabric and a layer of abrasive grain held by this adhesive layer as well an elastic intermediate layer between the base and. Adhesive layer consists. At the Use of such grinding or polishing bodies, it has now been found that not only the cells of the foam torn and then foam particles with the adhesive and abrasive grain as a result of the mechanical stresses caused by milling and pressing have been torn out, but also the foam through which in the rubber-elastic Adhesive containing vulcanizing agents, catalysts, accelerators and oxidizing agents attacked and destroyed. To remedy this disadvantage, according to the present Invention proposed for the elastic intermediate layer between the foam pad and the adhesive layer provided for embedding and adhering the abrasive grain to use chlorosulfonated polyethylene. This is a commercially available one chlorosulfonated polyethylene, as it is used in the manufacture of lacquers, and which in addition to 26 to 290/9 chlorine also contains 1 to 1.7% sulfur, calculated as Sulfonyl chloride. This intermediate layer preferably has to increase its adhesive strength one in the common solvents for paint preparation such as hydrocarbons (Ketones and. Esters) soluble synthetic resin such as phenol, aldehyde, ketone, Coumarone, charged or epoxy resin, which increases the elasticity of the intermediate layer is not affected. The resin content of the intermediate layer expediently amounts to this to about 5 to 50 percent by weight.

The intermediate layer made of chlorosulfonated according to the invention Polyethylene not only prevents foam particles from being torn out, but also it also provides a kind of chemical insulation layer between the waterproof and rubber elastic adhesive and the foam. These usually on natural or synthetic rubber-based adhesives have hitherto been associated with the risk brought the foam through the vulcanization aids it contains, To attack catalysts, accelerators or antioxidants and thereby the resistance and reduce the strength of the foam. By using the proposed Polyethylene also remedies this disadvantage.
