Die Erfindung betrifft einen Wasserstoff-Generator, bei dem der Wasserstoff durch katalytische
Reformierung aus einem Kohlenwasserstoff gewonnen wird und bei welchem der reine Wasserstoff
durch Diffusion aus dem Umsetzungsgemisch abgetrennt wird.
An Wasserstoff-Generatoren zur Erzeugung von Wasserstoff mit einem hohen Heizwert, insbesondere
für Brennstoffelemente, werden verschiedene Anforderungen gestellt. Dazu gehören die Fähigkeit, einen
Wasserstoff von hoher Reinheit zu gewinnen, eine hohe Durchsatzfähigkeit, bezogen auf das Gewicht,
den Umfang und die Kosten des Generators sowie erne gute Ausnutzung der Wärme.
Es sind schon zahlreiche Systeme bekannt, um Wasserstoff durch Umsetzung von Kohlenwasserstoffen
herzustellen. Es sind ferner verschiedene Systeme bekannt, um aus diesen Umsetzungsprodukten
einen Wasserstoff hoher Reinheit abzutrennen. So ist z. B. eine geschlossene Vorrichtung zur Darstellung
von reinem Wasserstoff bekannt, mit einem Einlaß für die Rohgasmischung und einem Auslaß
für das abgereicherte Abgas, die jeweils in einen Verteilerraum münden, wobei diese Verteilerräume
an den beiden Enden im Innern der Vorrichtung angeordnet und mittels Leitungen mit für Wasserstoff
durchlässigen Wandungen miteinander verbunden sind, sowie einem Auslaß, der mit dem die Leitungen
umgebenden Innenraum der Vorrichtung verbunden ist. Es ist ferner bekannt, das zum Betrieb dieser
Anlagen erforderliche rohe Gasgemisch mit einem Gehalt an Wasserstoff unmittelbar vorhergehend zu
erzeugen. Hierbei kann die Herstellungsstufe mit der Diffusionsstufe baulich in einer Vorrichtung vereinigt
werden, in die organische, Kohlenstoff und Wasserstoff enthaltende Gase, gegebenenfalls zusammen mit
Wasserdampf, eingeführt und an einem Katalysator umgesetzt werden, worauf direkt anschließend das
wasserstoffhaltige Produktgas der Diffusionstrennung unterzogen wird.
Obwohl es nach diesen bekannten Systemen möglich war, Wasserstoff hoher Reinheit zu erhalten, so
haben sie doch zahlreiche Nachteile bezüglich der Durchsatzfähigkeit, der Wärmeausnutzung, des Umfanges,
des Gewichtes, der Kosten.
Der wesentliche Gegenstand der Erfindung betrifft einen Wasserstoff-Generator, mit einer hohen
Durchsatzfähigkeit und einer guten Wärmeausnutzung zusammen mit einem geringen Umfang, Gewicht
und geringen Kosten.
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Generator zur Herstellung von sehr reinem Wasserstoff durch kata-Wasserstoff-Generator

lytische Umsetzung von organischen Stoffen mit Wasserdampf und unmittelbare Trennung der Reaktionsprodukte
mittels Diffusion. Der Generator
enthält einen Einlaß für die Ausgangsstoffe, der mit dem Katalysatorraum verbunden ist. Dieser letztere
mündet in einem ersten Verteilerraum, der an einem Ende einer mit einem Auslaß versehenen Kammer
angeordnet und mittels Leitungen, deren Wandungen ausschließlich für Wasserstoff durchlässig sind, im
Innern der Kammer mit einem zweiten Verteilerraum verbunden ist. Dieser zweite Verteilerraum ist
seinerseits am anderen Ende der Kammer angeordnet und weist ferner einen Abgasauslaß auf. Der Generator
ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Einlaß für die Ausgangsstoffe gasdicht durch den zweiten Verteilerraum
geführt und der Katalysatorraum zwischen den beiden Verteilerräumen im Innern der Kammer
und umgeben von den Leitungen angeordnet ist.
Ein Generator gemäß der Erfindung hat bei geringerem Umfang, Gewicht und bei geringeren
Kosten eine wesentlich bessere Wärmeausnutzung als die bekannten Generatoren. In der Zeichnung zeigt
F i g. 1 einen Längsschnitt durch einen erfindungsgemäßen Generator und
F i g. 2 einen Querschnitt entlang der Linie 2-2 der Fig. 1.
In der Zeichnung bedeutet 10 die äußere Umhüllung des Generators. 12 ist das Bett für den Katalysator
zur Umsetzung des gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffes. Das Katalysatorbett ist in der Leitung 14 angeordnet, in den Figuren aber nicht gezeigt. Die Fi-

guren zeigen dagegen graphisch die Gaszusammensetzung
an den verschiedenen Punkten des Generators. Wie gezeigt wird, läßt man einen Gasstrom,
der Wasser und Methanol enthält, in die Leitung 15 eintreten. Die Zusammensetzung des eintretenden
Gasgemisches ist durch eine Reihe von gestrichelten Linien wiedergegeben. Bei dem Durchgang durch
die Leitung 14 entstehen aus den Ausgangsstoffen in erster Linie Kohlendioxyd und Wasserstoff. Das
Kohlendioxyd ist in den Zeichnungen durch dicke Punkte, der Wasserstoff durch feine Punkte wiedergegeben.
Das gasförmige Umsetzungsprodukt tritt aus der Leitung 14 in den Verteiler 16 ein. Dieser Verteiler
ist verbunden mit mehreren für Wasserstoff durchlässigen Leitungen 18, die rund um die Leitung 14
herum angeordnet sind. Die Austrittsenden dieser Leitungen 18 münden in den zweiten Verteilerraum
20.
Wie aus der Zeichnung hervorgeht, wird ein großer Teil des gasförmigen Wasserstoffes aus dem Reaktionsgemisch
mittels Diffusion durch die Wandungen der Leitungen 18 abgetrennt. Dieser Wasserstoff
gelangt in den gemeinsamen Raum 22. Aus diesem wird er durch die Leitung 24 abgezogen. Die nicht
diffundierten Bestandteile des Umsetzungsgemisches gelangen in den zweiten Verteiler 20 und in die Ableitung
26. Sie können entweder in die Atmosphäre abgelassen werden oder aber man kann sie gegebenenfalls
in Gegenwart eines Oxydationsmittels wie Luft verbrennen, um Wärme für das Vorerhitzen zu
gewinnen.
Die obige. Beschreibung schildert nur den Zustand im Generator während des Betriebes. Es ist aber bekannt,
daß die katalytische Reformierungsreaktion endotherm ist und daß für das Ingangsetzen Wärme
zugeführt werden muß. Diese Wärmezufuhr kann erreicht werden durch Verbrennen eines Brennstoffes
wie Methanol mit einem Oxydationsmittel wie Luft in dem Katalysatorbett, bis die gewünschte Temperatur
erreicht ist. Dann führt man das Ausgangsgemisch von Wasser und Methanol ein, und die Gewinnung
von Wasserstoff beginnt.
Die Zeichnung beschreibt die Umsetzung von Methanol mit Wasser. An Stelle von Methanol können
aber auch zahlreiche andere organische Stoffe verwendet werden, wie z. B. Äthanol, Propan, Butan,
Gasolin, Kerosene, Dieselöl u. dgl.
Geeignete Katalysatoren für die Umsetzung sind in der Technik gut bekannt; hierzu gehört z. B. ein
Katalysator, der 1% Palladium auf einem Träger aus Aluminiumoxyd enthält. Die Umsetzung kann
bei beispielsweise etwa 3400C durchgeführt werden,
wobei diese Temperatur auch noch von den verwendeten Ausgangsstoffen, anderen Veränderlichen und
den gewünschten Ausbeuten abhängt. Alle diese Arbeitsbedingungen
sind in der Technik gut bekannt.
Die. Bauart und Zusammensetzung der Leitungen 18, deren Wandungen für Wasserstoff durchlässig
sind, ist "ebenfalls an sich bekannt; sie ist aber kritisch für den Erfolg des Verfahrens. Vorzugsweise
bestehen diese Leitungen aus Palladium enthaltenden Metallfolien auf porösen Trägern. Im allgemeinen
verwendet man Folien aus reinem Palladium oder seinen Legierungen) wie z. B. aus einer Legierung
mit 73 % Palladium und 27 °/o Silber. Diese Folien haben eine Dicke von etwa 0,0075 bis etwa
0,05 mm und befinden sich auf einem Träger, wie z. B. auf porösem rostsicherem Stahl in Rohrform.
Man kann aber auch Rohre aus reinem Palladium
5 oder Palladium-Legierungen verwenden.
Gegebenenfalls können Gefäße für den Brennstoff und das Wasser auf oder an dem Generator angeordnet
werden, um die Abhitze auszunutzen.
Bei einer beispielsweisen Ausführung des Verfahrens mit Hilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung wurde ein Gemisch von Wasserdampf und Methanol bei einer Temperatur von 350° C und einem Druck von etwa 21 kg/cm2 in den Generator eingeleitet. Der Katalysator bestand aus 1 % metallischem Palladium auf einem Träger aus Aluminiumoxyd. Die für Wasserstoff durchlässigen Leitungen bestanden aus metallischem Palladium. 70 °/o des entstandenen Wasserstoffes konnten mit Hilfe dieser Leitungen aus dem Umsetzungsgemisch abgetrennt werden. Die restliehen 30% Wasserstoff und die anderen Umsetzungsprodukte wurden mit Hilfe von Wärmeaustauschern dazu verwendet, den Brennstoff vorzuwärmen. Rechnungsgemäß wurden hierdurch etwa 50 °/o der in den Abgasen enthaltenen Wärme nutzbringend verwendet.
Bei einer beispielsweisen Ausführung des Verfahrens mit Hilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung wurde ein Gemisch von Wasserdampf und Methanol bei einer Temperatur von 350° C und einem Druck von etwa 21 kg/cm2 in den Generator eingeleitet. Die erforderlichen Druckunterschiede innerhalb und außerhalb der Leitungen 18 können auf verschiedene
Weise erreicht werden. Man kann z. B. den Brennstoff durch Leitung 14 unter Druck einführen.

die Ausgangsleitung 24 ein Vakuum ansetzen. Man kann natürlich auch mehrere oder alle diese Maßnahmen
miteinander kombinieren.
Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Generator zur Herstellung von sehr reinem Wasserstoff durch katalytische Umsetzung von organischen Stoffen mit Wasserdampf und unmittelbare Trennung der Reaktionsprodukte mittels Diffusion, der einen Einlaß für die Ausgangsstoffe, verbunden mit einem Katalysatorraum, aufweist, welch letzterer in einem ersten Verteilerraum mündet, der an einem Ende einer mit einem Auslaß versehenen Kammer angeordnet und mittels Leitungen, deren Wandungen ausschließlich für Wasserstoff durchlässig sind, im Innern der Kammer mit einem zweiten Verteilerraum verbunden ist, der seinerseits am anderen Ende der Kammer angeordnet ist, und ferner einen Abgasauslaß aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Einlaß für die Ausgangsstoffe gasdicht durch den zweiten Verteilerraum geführt und der Katalysatorraum zwischen den beiden Verteilerräumen im Innern der Kammer und umgeben von den Leitungen angeordnet ist.In Betracht gezogene Druckschriften:Deutsche Auslegeschrift Nr. 1064 037;
