Die Masse kann dazu gebracht werden, entweder eine Zahnfleischwunde oder Zahnkavitation zu decken. Die Masse erstarrt danach zu einem Zement und bildet einen widerstandsfähigen Deckverband. Es hat sich herausgestellt, daß solche Zemente bisher mit gewissen Nachteilen behaftet sind, unter anderem ist nämlich die Adhäsion des Verbandes nicht zufriedenstellend, und die Festigkeit ist nicht so hoch, wie es wünschenswert wäre. Die gegenwärtig im Handel befindlichen Zemente bestehen hauptsächlich nur aus Zinkoxyd und Eugenol.Such sealing pastes are known in the form of the so-called cement type.
