Es ist bekannt, Kunststoffrohre, z. B. solche aus Polyvinylchlorid, durch Schweißnähte unter Materialzugabe zu verbinden. Bei diesen Verfahren ist es üblich, die durch Drehen, Fräsen, Schleifen, Feilen oder Raspeln vorbereiteten Stumpfstöße, vorwiegend in V-förmigen Nähten, unter Zuhilfenahme von Schweißdrähten oder Schweißstreifen mittels eines Heißluftgerätes zu verschweißen. Dieses für Hartpolyvinylchloridrohre bewährte Verfahren — im allgemeinen wird durch geübte Schweißer ein Gütefaktor von 0,6 erreicht — läßt sich jedoch nicht ohne weiteres auf Rohre aus anderen Kunststoffen übertragen.
