Bei der Verwendung von dem Stand der Technik entsprechenden Schließeinheiten wie z. B. abschließbaren Boxen für Gepäck oder Wertsachen kommt es in Zügen zu störender Unruhe oder sogar zu Verzögerungen im Betriebsablauf, sobald Reisenden ihr Identifikationsmittel (Schlüssel, Kennwort oder Zahlencode) aus welchen Gründen auch immer nicht mehr zur Verfügung steht. Die Erfindung löst dieses Problem durch die Bereitstellung einer elektronischen Schließanlage, die die vorhandenen digitalen Informationen zu Laufweg und aktuellem Aufenthaltsort des Zuges in Kombination mit einer individuellen Codierung eines elektronischen Schlosses für die Codierung an der Codiereinheit (1) durch den Reisenden nutzt und über ein Steuerprogramm in einen Schließsteuerbefehl zur Entriegelung der jeweiligen Schließeinheit (2) umwandelt. Mit diesem Kennwort ist es dem Nutzer jederzeit möglich, die Schließeinheit während der Reise zu öffnen. Sobald sich aber der Zug dem Zielbahnhof in einer bestimmten Entfernung nähert oder sich aus der Berechnung von Entfernung und wahrscheinlicher Geschwindigkeit eine bestimmte, verbleibende Restreisezeit ergibt, wird die Schließeinheit über das Steuerprogramm automatisch geöffnet. Durch die automatische Öffnung der jeweiligen Schließeinheit am Zielbahnhof, kann der Reisende in jedem Fall rechtzeitig zum Ausstieg an sein Gepäck.
