Abstract
...The present invention relates to a device and a method for applying substances into the vascular pathways of lignified plants, in particular trees. All previously known technical solutions have in common that they cause major injuries to the trunks. In addition, a whole series of technical applications is not able to supply the entire plant with the substances to be used in a single operation. The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a device for low-destruction penetration while at the same time dispensing with the preparation of a cannula receptacle (bore) and permanently ensuring the tightness between injection needle and stem. This object is achieved in that the injection needle consists of a closed cannula which is open at the side. Due to the desired transverse distribution of the treatment agents in the trunk and the prevention of high concentrations in localized areas, which can lead to damage to the plant, several injection sites are required on the plants. According to the invention, this is achieved through the use of injection rings. In order to introduce the active ingredients into the plant in a timely manner, pressure must be built up in the system. An air pressure cushion is used for this. The pressure is transferred to the liquid to be injected via a freely movable piston. This is conveyed into the injector unit via feed lines and introduced into the trunk. ...
Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for applying substances to the vascular pathways of woody plants, especially trees.
The environmentally friendly and operational advantages of the trunk application on trees were recognized early on and are realized in different technical applications. The injection of treating agents and similar preparations into the plant sap xylem layer of trees and generally into the tracks of plants is known from various patents which are presented below.
All the technical solutions shown have in common that they cause major injuries to the trunks. A whole range of technical applications is also unable to supply the entire plant with the substances to be applied in a single operation. Therefore, all developments to date have not led to a significant spread of the treatment process by vaccination or application.

A disadvantage of this method is that much damage can be inflicted by the screw tip of the cambium layer, as is the case with other methods.

In addition, some of these systems have the further serious disadvantage that no separation between injection liquid and compressed gas takes place via a piston movable in the pressure vessel. As a result, there is a risk that air can be pressed into the trunk at sufficiently high pressure in the pressure vessel after the dosing medium has been completely injected. This can lead to embolisms, causing the water thread in the water pipes, which are to transport the injection liquid tears.

All the technical solutions mentioned above have in common that they cause major injuries to the trunk. The injuries can be caused by the pilot holes, the type of training of the injectors or even by the weight of the systems themselves. Through the use of only one injection needle per trunk, as is propagated in some systems, no uniform distribution of the plant protection agent can be guaranteed. But it is possible to distribute several injectors on one log. However, this greatly increases the risk of injury to the strain with the known systems.
The present invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a device for low-destructive penetration of a hypodermic needle into the juicy xylem layer of a plant, while dispensing with the preparation of a cannula (bore) and the permanent guarantee of tightness between the injection needle and trunk.
This object is solved by the features of
According to the invention, the injection needle consists of a closed cannula, which is laterally open. In detail, the injection needle consists of a cylindrical tube whose tip is tapered and the outlet opening of the injection needle is formed by a lateral recess in the cylindrical part of the injection needle immediately behind the cone. As a result, blockage of the outlet opening is largely prevented. The needle should have a diameter of 0.5 to 3.0 mm, preferably of 1.5 mm, so that with a sufficient mechanical stability of the cannula of the trunk is not more injured. It is avoided in this way a defective cracking of the trunk wood. The tip-opposite side is integrated into an injection unit which is connected to the dosing unit.
The injection needle is inserted horizontally into the plant trunk so that the lateral opening points upwards or to the side. If the cannula penetrates into the trunk, initially the juxtaposed guide tracks will escape laterally and the tissue will cling to the cannula due to clamping forces that occur. The cannula penetrates far into the wood body of the plant and thus enables a secure uniform supply of the plant with the treatment agents. By means of one or more paragraphs, the clamping force of the wood is increased in the collar area, whereby the penetration area is sealed to the outside. Furthermore, thus increases the mechanical. Resilience of the cannula. By further suitable means, the tightness can be increased. By this procedure according to the invention can be dispensed with a time-consuming pre-drilling.
Due to the desired transverse distribution of the treatment agents in the strain and the prevention of high concentrations in localized areas, which can lead to damage to the plant, multiple injection sites on the plants are needed. According to the invention this is achieved by the use of injection rings.
For insertion of the cannulas into the stem, a press-fit force is generated by suitable means on the cannula transducers. The injector unit is designed accordingly. The application rim is formed by a plurality of injector units, which are networked together by a hose system. The wreaths are supplied via a central supply line. The injector units therefore have several hose connections and thereby allow a variability of the ring system of trunk diameters of 20 mm and more. According to the trunk diameter, the Injector number in a ring can be selected, whereby a suitable transverse distribution is achieved within the trunk.
For the administration of plant protection products, a device is developed that allows as little pollutants to escape into the environment. For this, the active ingredients are injected directly into the plant.
The construction of this injection device for pesticides essentially comprises two main components: First, the direct injector unit with cannula, on the other hand, the pressure vessel for applying the necessary injection pressure.
To bring the active ingredients in the plant promptly, a pressure in the system must be established. For this purpose, an air pressure cushion of 1-12 bar, preferably about 4 bar, is used. The pressure is transmitted via a freely displaceable piston (
To deliver fluid into the reservoir, the piston must be pulled up from the lowest position in the reservoir. For this purpose, a plug connection is provided in the piston for the attachment of a pull rod. In this process, the liquid is sucked into the dosing chamber, similar to a syringe.
With the help of a ball valve on the neck of the container, the displacement can be closed after filling the pressure vessel with the dosing medium. When this is done, the pull rod is removed again and the lid is screwed to the container with the seal and valve installed.
About an unspecified compressor unit, the necessary pressure is built up. Because there is no continuous supply of air, but an approximately constant pressure is required for injection, the size of the container is chosen so that upon complete emptying of the container, the pressure drops minimally. The pressure vessel is attached to the tree with suitable fastening measures.
Thereafter, the injection unit must be installed, consisting of a cannula holder in which the cannula is attached. The cannula itself is composed of the actual cannula with lateral outlet opening and a support tube. The support tube additionally seals the cannula against the wood and gives stability. This stability is needed to prevent buckling during application. Furthermore, the extended cross-section of the cannula increases the clamping force that the wood applies to the cannula. The injection unit can be introduced, for example, with a hammer into the tree trunk.
Depending on the size of the log, about 1-25 needles, preferably 2-10 needles, more preferably 3-6 needles are needed to distribute the pesticides in the tree. These are distributed around the tree trunk circumference. In the cannula receivers connections are provided for screwed connections. The injection units are connected to the supply lines, the pressure unit is attached to one of the connections, the connection at the end is sealed with a suitable device. These are used to deflate the air in the lines during the first filling to prevent embolism. For the supply lines as small a diameter as possible was chosen to keep the dead volume small.
When these preparations have been made, the obturator is opened and the liquid flows into the tree trunk.
