技术领域
本发明一般地涉及作为一个电子节目表显示于一部电视机屏幕上的电视时间表信息，特别地涉及一种系统和方法，在不离开该节目表的前提下，用于进入节目表的再格式化功能。
背景技术
随着在一个大城市区域中的电视台或有线电视网络的数目的增加，呈现在一个观众面前的可能感兴趣的节目的数目已经戏剧性地增加。随着能接收直接卫星信号的碟形天线的使用，观众所能得到的节目的数量也已经进一步地增加。

发明内容
本发明提供了一个电视系统包括：一部接收机，用于恢复当前正在播送的电视信号；一部显示监视器，用于显示已恢复的电视信号；一个显示控制器，用于在监视器上，显示从已恢复的电视信号中得到的电视画面、与所显示的电视画面相关的广告消息，以及与所显示的电视画面相关的信息性消息，其中电视画面与信息性消息和广告消息同时显示。
根据本发明的一个方面，在供浏览和凝视的弹出区域中提供一个广告/消息窗口，以便当观众正在浏览或凝视时提供消息。

具体实施方式
一个EPG系统的综览
可以在EPG数据库中存储广告图像，或者从一个外部源接收广告图像。供凝视/浏览用的弹出区域格式包括由存储在ROM中的数据产生的、以恒定区域存储在存储器中的各种图形对象，以及基于存储在数据库中的或以实时方式提供的、用于描述文本和图形的各可变区域。
弹出区域包括一个用于显示广告或其他消息的可变区域，它们的内容存储在广告表的数据结构之中，这将在下面详细叙述。
在一个优选实施例中，可以在一部个人计算机、一部电脑电视机、被连接到一个机顶盒的一部电视机，或者含有一块定制板的一部电视机上来本实施本发明的电子节目表。然而，本发明并不局限于任何特定的硬件配置，并且随着各种计算机与电视系统的各种新的组合方式的开发，将会得到更广泛的应用。在下文中，有时把上面提到的任何一种称为一个“电视系统”。在图2中，描述了有代表性的各种电视系统的方框图。由于本发明不局限于任何特定的电视系统，所以对实施中的各项细节不作描述。
众所周知，待显示的画面可以作为一组模拟信号来传输，例如根据在美国所使用的NTSC标准，或者作为调制于一组模拟载频之上的一组数字信号来传输。可以通过一根电缆或者经由一组天线或圆盘式卫星天线来接收各种信号。典型地，各种电视机被设计成接收模拟信号，而计算机显示装置则被设计成显示以数字格式进行编码的各种画面。然而，解码器系统将数字数据转换为一组模拟信号，以便在一部电视机上显示出来，而各种电视调制解调器能将模拟的电视信号格式化，以便在一部监视器上显示出来。
在图2中，经由电缆30、天线32，或者碟形卫星天线34接收的模拟的或数字的电视信号被送往一个电视系统。若信号来自一种数字广播服务，则一个解码器36将该信号转换为基带视频与音频信号或3/4频道的射频信号。若该信号是一组模拟信号，则它作为实况视频输出而通过。电视系统38，根据其配置，从诸输出中选择所需的一个或多个，并显示所接收的节目。
一部电脑电视机包括一块电视卡40，它被连接到实况视频、基带视频，或者3/4频道的输出，它对视频图像进行数字化，并在计算机监视器上的一个可改变其大小的窗口中显示该视频图像。电脑电视机还通过一个调制解调器42连接到陆地电话线路。
若所接收的信号是一组模拟电视信号，则电脑电视机上的电视卡将模拟信号数字化，并从各垂直消隐间隔中抽取所包含的信息。另一方面，若该信号是一组数字信号，则分离的音频、视频、VBI(垂直消隐信息，例如字幕、电视图文，以及与节目有关的信息)，节目表，以及条件访问信息都作为独立的比特流来提供。针对各种节目的视频与音频比特流都被转换为一种用于显示的格式，并且节目表信息被处理，以形成一个节目表数据库。处理器、存储在存储器中的可执行软件产生各种交互式的电子节目表诸图像以及所接收的各种节目的诸图像。这个节目表可以被用来跟在窗口中显示的各种节目进行交互，并对各种节目进行控制。
一个电视系统，它被配置用于显示一个电子节目表，例如由星视远程广播(StarSight Telecast)公司提供的一份节目表，包括一个在屏幕上的显示控制器以及其他硬件，这将在下面加以描述。若接收到一组标准的模拟广播信号，则通过一个VBI(垂直消隐间隔)数据切分器，从VBI中抽取节目表数据。若从一颗卫星或一根电缆接收到一组DBS数字信号，则以独立的比特流的形式提供VBI和节目数据。各种节目表图像或者在本地产生，或者从远方产生，并且被送往一个在屏幕上的显示控制器。通过一种遥控方式来提供交互作用。
另一方面，也可以在一个计算机监视器上显示节目表，上述监视器通过，例如，包括一个红外发送器44的一个红外接口，以产生红外代码去控制电视机和/或一部盒式磁带录像机。
若以本地方式产生电子节目表数据库，则用以生产电子节目表的系统必须接收电视时间表信息，并对所接收的信息进行处理以便生成一个数据库。因此，该系统需要一个数据接收单元、一个处理器、用以存储节目代码以及一个数据库的存储器、一个在屏幕上的显示发生器(OSD)，以及一个控制接口，用以调谐到所选定的各频道。
在一个优选实施例中，时间表信息作为一组特殊格式的短命令被传输。各种不同的命令交换着各种信息，例如针对一个给定频道的一个节目时间表，在时间表中每一个节目的标题，关于在该频道中每一个节目的说明以及信息属性。因此，在一个特定的时间内，在若干命令中发送针对一个待广播的节目的信息，在各种命令中的ID号码有助于把信息组织到一个使用数据库引擎(DBE)软件的关系式数据库中去，上述软件存储在存储器中，并由处理器执行。
在一个优选实施例中，在观众的一部电视机中含有一块板，数据库以本地方式被存储，在一条指定的频道(例如PBS)上，在节目安排的各VBI中发送各种命令。在图3中，描述了用于接收节目表信息、产生节目表数据库、显示节目表，以及按照交互方式对节目表进行控制的一块板的一个实例。在一条指定的频道上，在节目广播的垂直消隐间隔中向这块板发送各项命令。
另一方面，也可以沿着陆地电话线路向该本地单元发送各项命令。此外，如下面所述，在某些系统中，数据库被建立在远方，而节目表本身则被发送到本地单元。
数据库引擎在RAM中建立一个多层次的数据库。图4描述数据库的这种多层次的结构。这个数据库从内部来说被这样构建：通过句柄和句柄表将时间表数据结构跟主题数据结构联系起来。每一个句柄是指向一个句柄表的一个索引，在句柄表中含有指向存储着数据库项目的存储器各块的诸指针。
在另一个实施例中，例如一个DSS系统，节目表数据作为一个比特流被发送，该比特流由数据库引擎进行处理。
此外，已经开发了一个N.E.W.S.(新闻，娱乐，天气和体育)数据库。包括故事文本和故事ID在内的诸命令也被发送。可以生成从节目表到跟一个节目有关的各种故事的各种联系，并且可以从节目表访问有关的各种故事。
从各项命令中还生成一个广告数据库，内容包括广告消息以及含有各种ID的标识，用以将诸广告跟在EPG中显示的诸节目联系起来。用户可以直接从节目表访问广告信息。
从各项命令中还生成一个因特网数据库，内容包括通往与EPG所显示的各种节目有关的因特网站点的各URL。若观众正在一个可以联网的平台(例如网络电视、一部个人计算机，或者电脑电视机)上收看EPG，则可以直接从EPG访问一个被链接的站点。
此外，一个图形程序模块还从数据库中建立各种显示利用时间表、节目标题，以及其他信息。若OSD控制器工作于字符方式，则所显示的是诸字符代码的一个网格，上述字符代码被送往OSD控制器，后者产生屏幕上的显示。
一个输入响应用户接口程序模块响应于用户的输入，产生针对特定输入的新显示。在一个优选实施例中，用户利用一种输入装置，例如一个遥控器、鼠标或键盘，将光标置于当前显示(画面)的一部分之上并进行点击。输入响应模块响应于光标位置以及当前显示的特定显示内容，产生一种应答的显示内容或采取一个特定动作。在另一个优选实施例中，用户接口响应于在一个遥控器之上的各功能按钮。各特例将在下面说明。

图3是用以执行在屏幕上的电子时间表显示和其他各项功能的电子硬件单元52的一个实施例的一份方框图。所描述的特定的硬件单元52是针对具有用于电视收看的家庭卫星天线的TVRO(仅接收电视)用户。这个单元跟现有的用户TVRO设备串联连接。

在屏幕上的显示控制器和格式化器(OSDCF)124起着一个I/O控制器、一个在屏幕上的显示控制器(OSD)的作用，还起着一个闭路字幕数据(CCD)VBI数据切分器的作用。VBI(垂直消隐间隔)是在一组电视信号中的一个死空间，它使一组电视信号将扫描电子束重新定位于该屏幕的从底部到顶部。在VBI期间，数字数据，例如闭路字幕数据被调制于载频信号之上。

时间表数据结构
数据库引擎(DBE)在RAM中建立一个多层次的数据库。图4描述了数据库的多层次结构。该数据库从内部来说被这样构建：通过句柄和句柄表将诸时间表数据结构跟诸主题数据结构联系起来。每一个句柄都是通往一个句柄表的一个索引，句柄表中含有通往存储着数据库结构的各存储器块的诸指针。

节目说明：含有节目的收视率、属性，以及说明文本。
图5所示的一个频道数据表是在各层次中最高的数据结构。这份表包括针对由用户单元所接收的每一个频道的一行。在频道数据表中的每一行被不频繁地更改，并且取决于用户单元的位置以及所接收的服务类型。每一个频道数据表行包括涉及该频道的信息以及针对该频道的一个节目索引句柄表的一个句柄。
在分层结构中的下一个数据结构就是图5所描述的节目索引表。节目索引表包括一个开始时间，典型地它是格林威治时间午夜以及按照24小时制来安排时间。通过一个节目时段的有序的序列来给出该频道的时间表，一个节目时段对应于特定的某一天由一个特定频道广播的每一个节目。每一个时段包括一个持续时间、节目标题句柄，以及节目说明句柄。为了寻找对应于一个给定的开始时间的一行，就需要依次地从节目索引表的始端开始对各行进行扫描，并增加持续时间的数值。
当数据库被完全地建成以后，将保存针对每一个频道的一个星期的节目索引表的数值。通过用两个字节使节目索引表句柄加1，就能访问一星期中的每一天。每天在格林威治时间午夜对节目索引表进行更新，在更新时，将刚结束的一天的节目索引表删去，并将下一周同一天的节目索引表添加到数据库中去。
在时间表分层结构中的下一个数据结构就是图7所描述的各节目标题行，以及图8所描述的各节目说明行。针对一个给定的节目时段，可以利用在该时段中所包含的各句柄来访问节目标题行以及节目说明行。节目标题行以及节目说明行被存储在被划分为各块的一个存储器池里面。每一个节目标题用一个唯一的20位节目标识号码(SID)加以标识，每一个节目说明用一个被分配于前端的20位的号码加以标识。节目标题句柄基于SID，并且节目标题句柄是进入一个节目标题句柄表的偏移量。由一个特定的节目标题句柄来访问的节目标题表的行包括存储该节目标题行的存储器池的首块地址。类似地，被一个节目说明句柄访问的节目说明句柄表行存储了存放该节目说明行的存储器池的首块地址。

每一个节目说明行包括一个主题索引ID，收视率，MPAA收视率，特征屏蔽位，节目制作年份，以及节目说明文本。由于一份说明仅对一个系列节目的一个特定的片段为有效，所以各节目说明行倾向于具有比节目标题行更短的寿命。

为了获得针对一段特定时间的时间表信息，并将时间表信息显示于节目安排网格之中，需要执行下列诸步骤。首先访问和扫描针对某一天的节目索引表，在频道表中寻找每一个频道。根据含有并跟随所选定时间的节目时段的持续时间来确定针对该频道的各水平块的大小。对被每一个节目时段所参照的节目标题行进行访问，并且在对应于该节目时段的水平块中显示该节目标题。
最喜爱的频道列表
回到图9，在频道数据表中的每一行包括一个喜爱的链接字段。该字段包括通往下一个喜爱的频道的链接，并且被用来形成一个按照用户所确定的排序方式的有序的各频道的链接表。
用户接口以及数据库引擎提供各种屏幕，以便待显示于节目表中的各频道的排序和选择。通往第1频道的一个链接就是存储在存储器中的一份排序的频道表。这种链接被用来访问频道表行，以便找到最喜爱的频道。在该频道中的最喜爱的链接被访问，并且被用来访问该频道表，以便找到下一个最喜爱的频道，依此类推，直到出现一个指定的定界符，例如0x00为止，这表示最喜爱的频道表的结束。
通过具有多个存放于每一个频道表行中的最喜爱的链接字段，就能支持具有多于一个的最喜爱的列表的能力。
主题数据结构
数据库的一个强有力的特征就是通过主题进行集群显示的能力。存放在节目标题行和节目说明行中的各主题ID被用来将特定的节目匹配于特定的主题。例如，一个观众可能需要察看所有的喜剧电影的一份列表。
在一个主题类目表中，每一个主类目，在上例中为电影，都具有一个主题类目行，如图10所示。一个主题类目行包括一个主题类目ID，一个针对子类目句柄表的句柄，以及主题类目名。对这个主类目来说，主题类目ID被用来标识主题子类目，在上例中为喜剧。
还有一个针对每一个主类目的主题子类目表，如图J所示。该表含有被包含于一个主要的主题类目之中的针对每一个主题子类目的各行。每一个表行都包括对应于子类目行的各主题ID以及子类目名。
主题检索
当观众开始一次针对特定类型节目的检索，例如检索一个喜剧电影时，每一个频道都被检查，并将每一份节目索引表的各主题ID跟存放在对应于各电影类目行的主题子类目表的喜剧行中的各主题ID进行比较。关于具有匹配的各主题ID的诸节目的信息被存储在一个用户接口本地缓冲存储器中的一个主题检索数据结构之中。
主题检索功能需要对数据库调用两次。这些调用中的第1次将主题检索数据结构启动到针对一个特定的频道行的与主题类目相匹配的第1个节目索引。经过一个特定的偏移时间之后，第2次调用将寻找下一个匹配的节目，更新主题检索数据结构，并将偏移量返送到下一个节目。
用于主题用户接口访问的基本算法如下：
1.针对一个给定的开始时间，针对每一个频道行，寻找在此时与该主题标准相匹配的第1个节目索引，并生成一个列表。跟踪已实现匹配的各频道；
2.按时间顺序对节目索引表进行排序；
3.在已排序的列表中，寻找具有最早节目的频道；
4.将最早的节目放进用户接口检索表中；
5.针对具有最早节目的频道，请求与主题标准相匹配的下一个节目，并更新偏移时间；
6.重复执行步骤2-4，直到所有的节目都已经被定位、或者到达其他指定的限值为止(即，可以针对一个有限次数的匹配来进行检索)。
随后，按照时间顺序显示针对所选定类目的诸节目索引。
广告与N.E.W.S.的数据结构
广告列表数据结构类似于节目索引表。它包括一个开始时间以及24小时的广告时间表。广告表被地方化，并且包括针对一个给定日期的待广播的每一份广告的一个广告时段。广告时段包括一个持续时间，以及一个广告ID，用以访问一个广告行。
如果适当的话，每一个广告行都包括一个广告标志文本字段、一个广告文本字段，以及指向一个广告标识的一个指针。广告标识包括一个准备跟该广告同时显示的图形文件。
各广告行包括广告标志文本以及广告文本。
类似地，还可以存储一个N.E.W.S.(新闻，娱乐、天气和体育)数据库。其结构类似于上述的数据库，但各文本行被更新，以便反映不同的论题。
建立数据库
借助于在处理器中运行的一个数据库引擎软件模块来建立数据库。数据库引擎接收包括各项离散命令在内的各种消息。各项命令的实例包括一条区域命令，它为一个特定的用户单元指定准备包括在频道数据表之中的可用的各频道；一条频道数据命令包括被用来形成频道数据表中的各行的信息；以及节目索引表、节目标题和节目说明诸命令包括在存储器中的各SID和各DID的参照区域。为了进一步的处理，数据库引擎仅选择与在频道表中所包含的频道有关的节目索引表命令。
数据库引擎为被包括在任何节目索引表中的所有各SID和DID生成在存储器中的存储位置。在各项命令中所包括的、具有匹配的各SID或各DID的信息被写入所参照的存储器区域。实际上，为了进行更有效的检索，借助于一个杂凑(Hashing)系统来处理各SID和各DID。
可以通过不同的途径来向一个用户单元发送消息。上面已经叙述了用于在广播节目的VBI中接收消息的一个系统。在一个DBS系统中，可以在一个专用的比特流中发送各种消息。
在一个DBS系统中，基带视频信号被数字化、压缩，并且被调制到模拟的各载频信号之上。由于在压缩技术方面的进展，曾经用来传送一个单独的节目的一路载频现在能够传送4个节目。典型地，除了各种视频信号以外，其他的比特流编码信息，例如音频、VBI(垂直消隐信息数据，例如闭路字幕和电视图文)，节目表信息，以及条件访问信息，都作为独立的比特流而被提供，并且被多路复用到一个复合的比特流，以及被调制到一组载频信号之上。
另一方面，可以在一组数字数据流中传送数据库本身。例如，在DSS中，在3小时的节目安排中为36个频道的各块传送节目表信息。用数字方式将节目安排调制到不同的频段。如图6所示，一颗卫星具有几个转发器500，可同时在不同频段上进行发送。利用数字压缩技术可以将几个频段调制到一个单独的频段上。所有频段都传送包括当前节目安排在内的一个比特流。然而，针对各频道的不同的各块的未来的节目安排在不同的频段上被发送。各块作为一个旋转木马或无限环路被发送，因此在接收到一个特定时间的频段之前，可能会有一段延时。
在观众位置上的一个解码器接收16路载频，并且控制一个调谐器/解调器去选择一个载频。该载频被采样、解码、纠错以及解多路复用，以分离不同的比特流。解码器包括各种视频解码器芯片，它们对压缩的视频信号进行解压缩，以便重构实质上任何尺寸的画面。
当观众访问节目表时，针对那段时间间隔的块被装载到存储器之中，使得用户能跟节目表进行交互。对于一个未来的时间以及不同的频道，可能会有一段延时。例如，若当前解码块为B1并且当前接收的块为B4，则在当前节目能够被接收和显示之前，该用户必须等待B5，B6和B7各块被发送。观众等待的延时等于正在发送的每一块的持续时间的总和，即d5+d6+d7。若节目表块被调谐到一个不同的频段，则电缆盒必须调谐到该频段并且等待，直到所需的块在旋转木马上被发送，因此，若为未来的节目安排而访问节目表，则可能会有一段延时。
对有线电视来说，数据库建立在SST前端，并且沿着陆地线路传送到电缆前端。有线电视公司将沿着它所需要的任何路径来发送数据，例如VBI、卫星、数字，等等。
用户接口
用户接口从一个输入装置，最好是一个遥控器，取得各种遥控命令，作为它的原始输入。在一个实施例中，用户通过按压在遥控器上面的各功能键来请求各种功能。在另一个实施例中，利用图形用户接口(GUI)，它在一个显示屏幕上，对应于不同的功能具有不同的交互区域。用户在对应于一项所需功能的交互区域中移动光标，并且选择该功能以产生一项命令。输入一项命令的具体形式并不重要，并且使用语音命令的技术即将实用化。
用户接口接收各项命令，并且用一个所请求的显示屏幕以及通过指向该命令所请求的功能来作出响应。所执行的功能可以是去执行一个动作，例如记录一个节目，调谐到一个频道，访问一个有关的因特网站点，购买一个每次付费的节目，或者购买商品。每一个屏幕的数据和格式依赖于前一个屏幕，一天中的时间(几点钟)，数据库的各项内容，所接收的命令，以及其他参数。一个状态表被用来定义屏幕流。
对于每一种已定义的屏幕来说，存在一个进入功能，一个退出功能，一个更新功能，以及一个请求管理功能的数组。当首次进入一种状态时，就调用进入功能，以收集所有必需的数据并对屏幕进行格式化。调用退出功能是为了从屏幕释放存储器和数据。每分钟调用一次更新功能，以便更新屏幕上的时间，并且若显示于屏幕上的任何信息需要更新，则重新描画(更新)屏幕(的内容)。
在一种特定状态下，该表包括指向另一种软件功能的一种参照关系，上述软件功能对应于遥控器上的每一个键，或者对应于屏幕上的每一个交互区域。当一个相关的遥控按钮被按压或交互区域被选中时，将指向这些参照功能。
例如，在GUI的实施例中，若用户想对一个节目进行录像，则该观众可将光标移动到在录像交互区域之上，然后选中该区域，请求指向录像功能。随后将产生一个确认屏幕。一旦用户确认录像请求，就在一个录像队列中生成一行。接着从实时执行(程序)中调用一个录像过程，以便检查该队列并管理各项录像功能。
由屏幕显示(OSD)控制器根据从数据库引擎发出的各项图形显示命令来显示诸屏幕。在各项基本命令中，为描画系统的各种显示屏幕所需的是清除屏幕命令；画矩形命令；保存矩形命令；存储矩形命令；移动矩形命令；写ASCII字符串命令；以及描画频道图标命令。
每一个屏幕包括各恒定区域，这些区域基于被存储在不挥发存储器里面的代码和数据，还包括各可变区域，例如节目标题和说明，它们利用存储在数据库中的数据。正如前面在关于数据库引擎的说明中所描述的那样，构建数据库是为了便于有效的信息检索，一般地采取存储于数据库之中的ASCII文本串的形式。此外，也在数据库中存储了各图形文件，准备在显示屏幕的窗口中显示。
弹出消息系统的详细说明
在频道间隔浏览方式下，随着一名观众使用遥控器来搜索频道，在屏幕上同时显示当前电视节目以及一个矩形弹出区域。弹出区域包括由遥控器当前选择的节目或频道的信息性消息。在时间间隔浏览方式下，弹出区域包括用以取代当前收看频道的后面的节目安排的信息性消息。在凝视方式下，弹出区域包括当前选定的节目或频道的信息性消息。例如，在美国专利第5,353,121号中的第66行，第10列就描述了供凝视用的上衬。最好是通过一条频道变换命令来启动弹出区域；当电视观众通过遥控器选择一个新的频道时，弹出区域就出现在屏幕上，并且保留一段预定的固定时间间隔，例如10秒钟。另一方面，也可以在遥控器上通过一个专用键来启动弹出区域-当该键被按压时，弹出区域出现，而当再次按压该键时，弹出区域就消失。除了关于节目或频道的信息以外，广告消息也跟当前电视节目同时显示。各种广告消息能对电视节目赞助商的产品或服务起到促销作用，因此在商业不景气期间，所显示的广告消息将有所增强。另一方面，各种广告消息也对其他赞助商的产品或服务起到促销作用。作为另一种可供选择的方案，各种广告消息能推动一个即将到来的电视节目或事件。作为又一种可供选择的方案，各种广告消息可以在上下文关系上具有敏感性，即，它们依赖于当前正在显示的电视节目的主题，例如，选择各种广告消息以投合经常收看该类型的电视节目的人们的兴趣，例如关于高尔夫球场的广告消息跟关于高尔夫球赛的一个电视节目同时显示，或者关于一条空中航线的广告消息跟一次电视旅行同时显示。简而言之，在一个弹出区域中，广告消息连同关于电视节目的信息性消息一起提供。
在另一个实施例中，弹出区域也可以是在文字上跟电视节目有关的一条广告消息，而正在显示的该电视节目没有任何信息性消息。
图1对前面所述进行图解。一部电视机10在一个屏幕12上显示一个远程广播电视节目。在优选实施例中，一个矩形弹出区域14包括一个第1可变区域16，它根据存储在一个广告表数据结构中的数据，同时显示一条广告消息。根据由数据提供者所选定的计划，不同的广告都可以在区域16中显示，在这个意义上，区域16是可变的。例如，一份不同的广告可以显示于该电视机所调谐的每一个频道上。或者每次启动浏览或凝视方式时，可以在一个旋转的基础上提供不同的广告。或者可以根据一种规定的广告循环，经过一段预定的时间后，显示一条不同的广告。或者根据正在显示的电视节目的上下文关系来显示各种不同的广告。弹出区域14还包括一个第2可变区域18，它显示跟正在显示的节目内容有关的信息，例如标题、剩下的时间、频道，等等。随着节目改变，信息也跟着改变，在这个意义上，区域18是可变的。必要时，弹出区域14还可以包括其他固定的或可变的区域，它们涉及正在收看或观众感兴趣的电视节目。另一方面，也可以在没有区域12的条件下显示诸区域16和18，或者区域18可以被消除。虽然一般来说最好如图1所示，在靠近屏幕的中部突出地显示弹出区域，但是也可以在一个远离此处的地方，例如沿着底部边界来显示弹出区域。弹出区域的形状也可以各不相同，例如，气球状，或者椭圆形，或者圆形。而且，弹出区域的大小，即，弹出区域的背景所占据的空间也可以改变，这取决于待显示的各种消息的大小。
通过将各句柄纳入到在频道表中的广告表数据结构之中，或者将各句柄纳入到节目索引表的各行之中，根据特定的节目，就能将不同的广告分配到不同的各频道中去。
通过发送各项命令以更新在列表数据结构中的各文本或图形行，就能改变各项广告的内容。
复合EPG以及广告系统的详细说明
以不同方式(例如一个被接收的电视节目或者视频剪辑，以及一个EPG)交替地显示图像，这是众所周知的。在这种情况下，EPG被显示于具有一种或多种实颜色的背景之上。本发明的这个方面涉及以一种复合形式显示EPG的另一种途径，即，广告消息被包含在这样一种图像之中。
在业界中人所共知，可以让一个重叠的前景图形图像变为透明，使得一幅在下面的背景图像得以显现。例如，对于一幅具有GIF格式的图像来说，可以将背景颜色设置为透明值，使得在前景图像中具有选定的调色板号码的诸像素将被在背景图像中的诸像素所取代。
一个EPG的格式示于图11A，一段广告消息的格式示于图11B。EPG格式包括诸矩形的各种轮廓以及显示于各矩形之中的各种字符。各矩形通常被填充以对应于一个调色板号码(针对该图形系统所使用的调色板)的一种颜色。调色板的各种号码，连同EPG数据以及固件一起，被存储在RAM或ROM之中。
这样一来，如图11A所示，为了以一种复合形式，同时显示一个EPG以及一段广告消息，用以填充各种矩形的颜色的调色板号码将被选择为透明。因此，若背景图像是图11B所示的广告消息，并且前景图像是图11A所示的EPG，则所得到的复合图像就是图11C所示的一个透明的EPG。用户借助于由遥控器发出的各种命令，可以选择在一种或多种实颜色的背景上，以常规样式单独地显示EPG，或者如图11C所示，以一种复合方式，连同广告消息一起来显示EPG。当用户选择复合方式，在EPG数据被馈送到视频处理器之前，微处理器将前景颜色置换为透明。在组合信号被送往显示器的驱动电路之前，视频处理器的输出跟广告消息被混合在一起。
如图11C所示，背景图像的布局应当考虑到EPG图像的布局。在单色显示器中，跟轮船的黑色的船身相重叠的字母是看不见的。为了改进可视度，应当重画轮船，或者使用一种不同颜色的文本。
另一方面，前景图像可能是一份第2透明的广告。若前景的背景部分被设置为透明，并且背景图像被这样设计，使得广告消息被定位于前景图像的背景范围以内，则可以同时显示两份广告。

Claims (18)

1.一个电视系统，包括：
一部接收机，用于恢复当前正在播送的电视信号；
一部显示监视器，用于显示已恢复的电视信号；
一个显示控制器，用于在监视器上显示从已恢复的信号得到的电视画面，在该电视画面上的一个重叠区域，该重叠区域包括一条与所显示的电视画面无关的广告消息和一条与所显示的电视画面相关的信息性消息，其中，该电视画面与信息性消息和广告消息同时显示。
2.根据权利要求1的电视系统，其中信息性消息与从已恢复的电视信号得到的电视画面的内容相关。
3.根据权利要求1的电视系统，其中信息性消息与已恢复的电视信号的频道上的后面的节目安排有关。
4.根据权利要求1的电视系统，其中信息性消息与已恢复的电视信号的频道上的当前的节目安排有关。
5.根据权利要求1的电视系统，还附带地包括用于显示一个EPG以及一段广告消息的一个复合体的装置。
6.根据权利要求5的电视系统，还附带地包括用于单独地显示一个EPG的装置。
7.根据权利要求5的电视系统，还附带地包括用于存储EPG数据的装置，上述数据包括至少一种已存储的背景颜色数值。
8.根据权利要求7的电视系统，还附带地包括用于使用所存储的背景颜色数值单独显示EPG的装置。
9.根据权利要求7的电视系统，还附带地包括用于将所存储的背景颜色数值置换为一个透明数值，以显示该复合体的装置。
10.一个在电视画面上显示广告的方法，该方法包括：
恢复当前正在播送的电视信号；
在一部显示监视器上显示从已恢复的电视信号得到的电视画面；
在电视画面上显示一个重叠区域，该重叠区域包括一条与所显示的电视画面无关的广告消息和一条与所显示的电视画面相关的信息性消息，其中，该电视画面与信息性消息和广告消息同时显示。
11.根据权利要求10的方法，其中信息性消息与从已恢复的电视信号得到的电视画面的内容相关。
12.根据权利要求10的方法，其中信息性消息与已恢复的电视信号的频道上的后面的节目安排有关。
13.根据权利要求10的方法，其中信息性消息与已恢复的电视信号的频道上的当前的节目安排有关。
14.根据权利要求10的方法，还附带地包括显示一个EPG和一段广告消息的一个复合体。
15.根据权利要求14的方法，还附带地包括单独地显示一个EPG。
16.根据权利要求14的方法，还附带地包括存储EPG数据，上述数据包括至少一种已存储的背景颜色数值。
17.根据权利要求16的方法，还附带地包括使用所存储的背景颜色数值单独显示EPG。
18.根据权利要求16的方法，还附带地包括将所存储的背景颜色数值置换为一个透明数值，以显示该复合体。
