发明背景
随着互联网的出现与发展,在打印媒体工业也出现了进行“联机出版”的机会,而不是产生和分发传统的、基于纸张的出版物。联机出版有一些优点。从消费者的角度来说,可以根据需要来获得信息,可以通过超文本链接来对信息进行浏览,可以搜寻信息,并且可以对信息自动地进行个性化处理。从出版者的角度来说,去除了打印和物理分发的成本,并且出版物变得对广告商更有吸引力,因为它可以针对专门的人口统计并且链接到产品站点。
联机出版也存在缺点。计算机屏幕比纸张要差。使用与一个杂志纸张相同的质量,一个SVGA计算机屏幕仅显示其大约五分之一的信息。CRT(阴极射线管)和LCD(液晶显示器)两者均存在亮度和对比度的问题,特别当环境光比较强时。在纸张上的墨水是反射光的而不是发射光的,所以在环境光中,它是明亮的并且对比度很强。所以,人们有一个自然的偏爱,那就是阅读装订的、基于纸张形式的新闻报纸,杂志,目录,小册子,和其它出版物等。
已知的数字打印机,尤其是数字喷墨打印机,并不提供用于将打印媒质装订在一起的任何手段。本配置将能在小办公室/家庭办公室(SOHO)环境中方便地进行装订文档的生产。这还能设法解决联机出版中的某些存在的缺点。然而,在SOHO环境中空间是珍贵的。因此,任何用于自动将各单页装订为装订文档的手段都不应该在打印机所占空间之外再显著地增加额外空间。
发明内容
本发明的一个目的是提供适合于与数字打印机一起使用的用于将打印媒质的页面装订为装订文档的装置。因此,本发明提供一种与数字打印机一起使用的装订装配组件,该装订装配组件具有一个用于安装一个用于在媒质页面上进行打印的打印头组件的支撑架,该装订装配组件包括:
一个安装于支撑架上的装订装置,其中该装订装置适配于相对于支撑架、沿着基本上垂直于媒质前进方向的路径装订页面。
优选地,该装订装置包括一个海绵胶条,该海绵条相对于支撑架垂直于媒质大致前进方向而延伸。在又一个优选方式中,可伸缩的指状物周期地伸向页面路径中以便临时地中止页面前进而使海绵胶条在页面上涂敷一条粘结剂。在本发明的某些实施例中,一旦胶条已经将粘结剂涂敷于页面上,可伸缩指状物即缩回以使该页面依靠重力作用送至装订区,在该装订区内每一页顺序地粘接至前一页。还希望一旦胶条已经将粘结剂涂敷于页面上,可伸缩指状物即缩回以使该页面依靠重力作用送至装订区,在该装订区内每一页顺序地粘接至前一页。
应理解,根据此实施例的装订装置在将粘结剂向前一页按压之前先直接涂敷粘结剂。这比将粘结剂涂敷于每一页反面并且顺序地将每一页压向后随页面的方式更为有效,因为打印过程的任何中断例如补充纸张供应有可能使涂敷于最后粘接的一页上的粘结剂变性而降低性能。
在另一个实施方式中,该海绵胶条适配于通过毛细管作用自粘结剂供应源获取粘结剂。根据具体的优选实施例,将海绵胶条保存于一个适合于将胶条密封的腔内,以便提供一个当不用海绵胶条时能够维持粘结剂性能的环境。在这些实施例中,提供一个凸轮轴以便通过该腔内一个可关闭的开孔将胶轮向前推送从而与页面接触。

在这个优选实施例中,本发明被配置为使用一个网页系统进行工作,以后将对它的概况进行描述。本说明书中以这样一个形式描述这个系统,以便当希望理解本发明的优选实施方式和方面进行工作的上下文时,可以减少对外部参考资料的需要。

这个网页笔与一个网页打印机,一个用互联网连接的、用于家庭、办公室或者移动使用的打印工具一起进行工作。这个笔是无线的,并且通过一个短距离无线电链路与这个网页打印机进行安全的通信。
这个网页打印机能够周期性地或者根据需要发送个性化的新闻报纸,杂志,商品目录,小册子和其它出版物,所有这些出版物均被用作交互式网页以高质量进行打印。与一个个人计算机不同,这个网页打印机是一个应用工具,例如,它可以被安装与在早间新闻首先被阅读的区域相邻的墙壁上,例如一个用户的厨房,靠近早餐桌的旁边,或者在靠近这天离开家的位置上。它也可以是桌上,台面,便携式的或者微型的形式。
在这些使用地点打印的网页综合了纸张使用的方便性和一个交互式媒质的及时性与交互性。
因为这个网页打印机功能上的优越性,可以使这个网页系统更方便。在这些打印机的核心中,是在上面所列表出的、各种共同未决的和同时递交的申请中被描述的、基于高速微机电系统(MEMS)的喷墨(MemjetTM)打印头。在这个技术的优选实施方式中,相对高速度和高质量的打印已经普及到更多用户能够用得起的程度。在其优选形式中,一个网页出版物具有一个传统的新闻杂志的物理特征,例如一组信纸大小的、两面使用全彩色进行打印的光滑页面,并且被装订在一起以供更方便地进行翻阅和进行舒适的处理。
一个网页打印机以每分钟超过30张双面纸张的速率(即,每分钟超过60页)来打印照片质量的图象和杂志质量的文本。这些网页打印机的形式可以有多种,包括墙挂式的,桌面型的,便携式的,和袖珍型的。从这个网页系统的特点来说,可以设想,这个网页打印机的最可能商用的相关形式之一将是称作墙挂式打印机的、可以被安装在墙壁上的这个打印机。为了方便,将参考在附图中所显示的这个特定版本来详细描述本发明。
这个垂直安装的网页墙挂式打印机600完全地显示在图1和图2中。如图4和5中最佳显示的,它使用双向MemjetTM打印引擎602和603,在A4大小的媒质上打印网页。它使用一个直的纸张路径,并且纸张604通过双向的打印引擎602和603,这两个打印引擎使用全彩色和全泄放来同时在一个纸张的两面进行打印。一个多DSP光栅图象处理器(RIP)将页面进行光栅化并且保存在内部存储器中,一对定制打印引擎控制器实时地解压缩,抖动和打印页面图象到这个双向打印头。
一个整体装订装配组件605沿每一张打印纸张的一个边缘涂敷一个胶条,当被按压时允许它能够粘结到前一页纸张。这产生了一个最终装订文档618,其厚度可以从一张纸到几百张纸。将参考图7至13在下面详细地描述这个装订装配组件。
参考图1到图7,这个墙挂式打印机600包括一个主托架606,这个主托架606容纳了所有主要的部件和装配组件。它在前上半部分有一个绕枢轴旋转的媒质盘607,该媒质盘被一个前压制件608和手柄压制件609所覆盖。这个前压制件608,手柄压制件609和前下半部分压制件610可以在颜色,纹理,和表面涂层上变化,来使这个产品更能够吸引消费者。它们简单地夹到墙挂式打印机600的前面。
一个可弯曲的印刷电路板(软PCB)从这个媒质盘607通到主PCB 612。它包括4个不同彩色的LED 613,614,615和616,和一个按钮617。这些LED通过前压制件进行显示,并且指示“打开”613,“无墨水”614,“无纸”615,和“错误”616。这个按钮617调出打印的“帮助”,包括使用说明,打印机和消耗品的状态信息,和这个网页网络上的资源目录。
打印的装订文档618通过这个墙挂式打印机600的基座而退出到一个干净的、塑料的、可移去的收集盘619。这将在下面参考图7来进行具体详细的描述。
这个墙挂式打印机600由一个内部110V/220V电源620供电,并且具有一个使用4个螺丝固定到墙壁上的或者固定到静止垂直表面上的金属安装盘621。金属盘621中的内嵌锁眼槽元件622允许4个安装在这个打印机后面的4个栓挂到这个盘上。如图6中最佳显示的,一个螺丝623用于禁止将这个墙挂式打印机600卸下来,该螺丝将这个托架压制件606定位到盘621上媒质盘607后面的一个位置。
参考图3,这个墙挂式打印机600的侧面包括一个模块架来容纳一个网络接口模块625,这个网络接口模块允许将这个打印机连接到这个网页网络并且连接到一个本地计算机或者网络。这个接口模块625可以在工厂中或者在现场选择和安装,以提供用户所需要的接口。这个模块可以具有共同的连接器选项,例如:IEEE 1394(火警线)连接,标准的Centronics打印机端口连接或者一个混合的USB2和以太网连接。这允许消费者能够将该墙挂式打印机600连接到一个计算机或者将它用作一个网络打印机。接口模块PCB 651(具有金接触边缘条)通过一个边缘连接器直接插入到这个主墙挂式打印机PCB 612。不同的连接器配置通过使用一个工具插入件而容纳于这个模块设计中。在这个模块625任何一侧上的、可以放手指的凹槽允许方便地手动插入或者移去模块。
主PCB 612连接到这个托架606的后面。板612通过这个托架压制件606与这个接口模块625连接。PCB 612也携带对MemjetTM打印头必要的外部接口电子电路。这包括具有两个32MB DRAM,闪存,IEEE 1394接口芯片,6个电动机控制器,各种传感器连接器,接口模块PCB边缘连接器,电源管理,内部/外部数据连接器和一个QA芯片的一个主CPU。
参照图4和图5,纸张604被放入一个带铰链的顶部盘607,并且被向下按压到一个被弹起的压盘666上。这个盘607通过两个铰链(未示出)安装到托架606上。
在关闭边缘导轨以前,纸张604位于边缘导轨下,并且通过一个金属弹簧部件的作用而自动对齐到这个盘的一侧。一个墨盒627通过一系列自身密封连接器连接到一个墨水连接器压制件中。该连接器将墨水、空气和胶水输送到它们各自的位置。这个墨水连接器压制件包括一个传感器,该传感器检测在这个墨盒上的一个QA芯片并且在打印前证实身份。当这个前开口被探测到已经关闭时,一个释放机构允许这个被弹起的压盘666将纸张604推到一个用电动机带动的、媒质拾取辊子装配组件626上。
图6显示这个可替换墨盒627的剖视图。它具有泡状腔或腔,用于保存固定剂644,和青色631,品红色632,黄色633,黑色634和红外635墨水。如图4中所示,这个墨盒627也在一个基部压制件中包含一个微型空气过滤器636和一个粘结剂泡状腔630。这个微型空气过滤器636通过一个软管与这个打印机内的一个空气泵638连接。它将被过滤的空气提供给MemjetTM打印头,以避免将微颗粒输入到这个打印头,从而阻塞打印头的喷嘴。通过将空气过滤器636包括在墨盒627中,过滤器的工作寿命可以有效地与墨盒的使用寿命联系在一起。这可以确保过滤器可以与这个墨盒一起替换,而不是依靠这个用户按照所需要的时间间隔来清除或者替换这个过滤器。
墨盒627具有一个薄的墙壁外壳640。这个墨水泡状腔631至635和固定剂泡状腔644通过一个将墨盒钩到一起的销钉645悬挂在这个外壳中。这个墨盒是完全可再生的产品,其容量可以用于打印和粘结3000页面(1500张纸)。
一个用电动机带动的媒质拾取辊子装配组件626将最上面的纸张直接从媒质盘607通过第一打印引擎602上的一个纸张传感器(没有显示)推到双向的MemjetTM打印头装配组件。这两个MemjetTM打印引擎602和603按照直接相对的配置安装在沿直线纸张路径上。纸张604由驱动的拾取辊子626拖入第一打印引擎602,其中检测纸张604的位置和大小,并且进行全泄放打印。
同时打印固定剂以有助于在最短可能时间使墨水乾燥。
这两个MemjetTM打印引擎602和603包括一个旋转的密封的,吸收墨水的和压盘(platen)装置。当MemjetTM打印头不使用时,这个密封装置将它密封。这个密封装置去掉密封并且旋转来产生一个整体吸收墨水纸,该吸收墨水纸用于在常规打印机启动维护中吸收从这个打印头中喷射出来的墨水。它同时移动MemjetTM打印头705内部的一个内部密封装置以允许空气进入起保护作用的喷嘴屏蔽区域。这个装置的第三次旋转将一个压盘的表面移动到一个用以在打印期间支撑纸张604的一侧的位置。
如图7至13中所示,纸张4从双向的打印引擎602和603进入装订装配组件605。当纸张604经过胶条组件673时,一个可伸缩阻挡706周期地延伸至纸张路径中并且临时地中止纸张移动从而允许海绵胶条将一条粘结剂涂敷于前面上的一条水平边缘上(文档的第一张纸除外)。一旦胶条已经将粘结剂涂敷于页面上,该可伸缩阻挡即缩回以使纸张能够依靠重力作用送至装订区,其中每一页顺序地粘接至前一页。
图8至13详细地显示胶条组件。它在前面具有一个注塑的胶条外壳683和一个海绵胶条681,以及一个具有注塑件683长度的并且从一端伸出的胶水软管641。沿着胶水软管641长度方向有一系列用于向胶条681提供胶水的孔。当不用时,胶条外壳683分别由完全相同的上盖和下盖679和680盖住。这些盖安装于连接至金属支撑杆674的铰链块684上。当胶条组件673不用时,弹簧685将盖一起关闭从而在海绵胶条周围形成密封以便防止胶水性能显著下降。
当驱动凸轮轴642时,胶条外壳683被推向前。外壳683一侧上的楔状物682迫使盖679和680打开以使胶条681接触打印的页面(未示出)。如图10中所示,金属条返回弹簧672将胶条外壳683和支撑杆674连接起来。当盖679和680自动地关闭胶条681时,返回弹簧672使外壳683回到不工作位置。
应理解,此配置允许将媒质盘,装订台和收集台安排在一个“横向”方向上(短边缘平行于纸张移动方向),以缩短打印机的长度。这提供一个相对的紧凑设计,因此能够更易于放置于有限空间的环境中。
这个“横向”装订装配组件605最佳地显示在图7中。它具有一个金属支撑架686,一个被弹起的在4个横穿的棒上行进的模制装订压盘687,一个模制的用于在纸张604已经移动通过后支撑这个文档618的有角度压盘,和一个退出开口690。打印页面604被馈送进入,直到它位于退出开口690上。这个装订压盘通过一个循环的转轮系统和连接到一个电动的电缆绕线轴694上的一个被弹起的不锈钢电缆693被高速地往前推进。当这个电缆绕线轴694转动时,电缆环693缩短并且将这个装订压盘687往前推送。这个电动轴694具有一个滑动离合器机构,并且提供必要的速度来将这个纸张604向前推到前一张纸的后面,粘结它/装订它,然后在返回弹簧的作用下返回到原位置以接受下一个被打印纸张。这个往复运动的压盘的单个工作周期的时间少于2秒。
这个电缆693被弹起以允许将正的压力施加到前一张纸上,以帮助进行装订。另外,有角度的压盘的顶部比基座浅,以在一个过轴配置中支撑这个文档618。
当纸张604被传送通过到有角度的压盘时,一个纸张轻击锤(tapper)643将纸张604敲打到装订组件605的一侧。主PCB 612分别控制用于电缆绕线轴694,轻击锤643和退出开口690的电动机。
当一个文档618被装订并且被完成时,打开包括一个轻击锤传感器的被驱动的退出开口690。这个轻击锤643也在文档618被弹出装订器605而进入收集盘619期间,对被打印文档618进行敲打对齐。在前下半部分压制件610上的模制薄片698与开口690一起工作来将完成的文档618引导到收集盘619的后面,并且将任何其它的文档馈送入到该盘中而不会碰撞已有的文档。收集盘619是用透明塑料模制的,并且在一特定加载下从其插口中拔出。在3个侧面提供了用于去除文档的凹槽。
只参考了具体的示例描述了本发明。该领域内的技术人员将很容易地认识到,可以在不偏离该宽广发明概念的实质和范围的情况下实现很多变动和修改。
Claims (3)
1.一种打印机,包括:
一个支撑架;
安装在所述支撑架上的一个介质托架,用于存储介质;
一个媒质供应装置,它相对于所述介质托架得到适当定位以从介质托架沿着一个方向馈送介质;
安装在所述支撑架上的一个打印头组件,该打印头组件位于所述介质托架的下游以接收介质并在介质上进行打印;以及
安装在所述支撑架上的一个装订组件,该装订组件包括:
位于所述打印头组件的下游的一个粘结剂施加区;
一个停止装置,用于使介质的相继的页在所述粘结剂施加区中停止一个预定的时间;以及
一个长的粘结剂施加器,它与所述馈送方向大体成直角地得到定位,该施加器可以移向介质的页和离开介质的页,以在所述预定的时间里在所述介质的每一个相继的页的一个横向边缘上施加一个粘结剂的条带。
2.根据权利要求1的打印机,其中所述粘结剂施加器包括一个长的外壳和一个粘结剂供应器,在所述外壳中有一个施加海绵,该施加海绵与所述粘结剂供应器相流体接触,从而借助毛细现象作用使粘结剂被吸入到所述海绵中,且所述施加海绵被适当定位从而当所述粘结剂施加器移向介质的页时所述施加海绵与介质的页相接触以把粘结剂施加到所述介质页上。
3.根据权利要求1的打印机,其中所述装订装置包括一个装订卷筒,该装订卷筒被适当定位以在粘结剂的条带已经被加到各个页上时接收各个介质页,且所述装订卷筒能够移到以把相继的页推到一起,从而使相继的粘结剂条带相接触而把这些页粘合在一起。
