Abstract

背景技术
电子邮件正以空前的速度被应用。对于常规计算机用户而言，目前大多数已经或即将拥有一个电子邮件地址。很多人拥有不止一个电子邮件地址，例如一个用于工作而另一个用于家庭。电子邮件相对于文字通讯具有不可比拟的便利。
除了普遍应用的电子邮件以外，另一个强劲的趋势是经各种无线设备，例如移动电话、呼机、手持计算机如掌上电脑和Windows CE装置等进行无线接入。专用业务电子邮件网关允许电子邮件信息从互联网上发送到专用的无线装置。在使用SprintPCS电话的情况下，例如可以给一个电子邮件设定地址为#@sprintpcs.com，其中#代表该电话的电话号码。尽管它具有这种能力，但无线信息通讯还是非常复杂，即一个人必须具有多个无线装置，且在特定的时间，发送者无法知道那个人的行踪或在那一时间的优选的消息传输方式。更不用说属于各个网关的专用地址了。

ISP或无线供应商都没有能够提供一个解决电子消息问题的完全方案。ISP最初集中于获取新的用户，并常常没有足够的用户以吸引无线合伙人。对于无线供应商来说，用户通常不情愿关闭他们最初的电子邮件地址。无线卖主通常不能够将现有的电子邮件服务合并。
随着电子邮件的广泛应用，还出现了大量增殖的垃圾邮件，或“兜售邮件”。目前，在每天发送的成千上万的电子消息中，大约30％这些消息可能是垃圾邮件。图2显示了图1的用户的“兜售邮件”。各个公司(例如加利福尼亚，旧金山的Brightmail有限公司)通过提供电子邮件过滤软件来致力于解决垃圾邮件的问题，以试图识别和剔除垃圾邮件。典型地，这种软件装置于目的地电子邮件服务器上。这种方案很难把握，即，随着电子邮件服务器数目的增加，在电子邮件服务器上安装和维护电子邮件过滤软件变得越来越难。

发明内容

通过建立用户限定的优选项，用户能够控制消息向各个装置的流动。使用网页浏览器软件可配置优选项来创建或修改用户简档。用户简档被存储在可接入中介预处理服务器的相关数据库中(未显示)。注意最终用户配置可经任何有线或无线的可联网装置发生。可使用本领域目前已知的技术，例如掌上型“网夹”技术，CA，Redwood城的Phone.com组的UPLink服务器，无线应用方案(WAP)能(enable)的移动电话等来支持无线网通路。

在服务开始日期之前，ISP通知订户并安排将要为服务开始日期适当修改的它的DNS入口通路。

14.根据权利要求11的方法，其中增值处理至少包括垃圾邮件过滤和病毒检测之一。

识别可疑的电子消息；和
存储但不传输可疑的电子消息。
16.根据权利要求15的方法，还包括用户接入一个服务器以察看地址为该用户的可疑的电子消息。
17.根据权利要求11的方法，其中增值处理包括传输至少一部分电子消息到一个或多个无线网络网关。
18.根据权利要求17的方法，还包括在向无线网络网关传输电子消息之前，执行电子消息的修改。

识别电子消息的媒体部分；和
用不同电子内容替换媒体部分。

中介预处理服务；和

一个服务器；

允许用户利用网页浏览软件创建或改变用户的简档的软件。

其中中介预处理服务执行地址为目的地电子邮件服务器或网关的电子消息的至少一部分的增值处理，并传输至少一部分电子消息到目的地电子邮件服务器或网关。
59.根据权利要求58的设备，其中增值处理包括至少垃圾邮件过滤和病毒检查之一。

接收地址为用户的电子消息；
恢复存储的用户简档；和
