打印机的墨水供应装置
技术领域
本发明涉及一种打印机的墨水供应装置。
背景技术
更特别地,但不是绝对地,本发明涉及一种适用于打印A4幅面纸张的按需喷墨式打印头的墨水供应装置,该打印头能够以1600dpi的分辨率每分钟打印160张。
所述装置可用于打印机的整体设计,在设计中采用由可替换的打印头模块组成的长度大约8英寸(20cm)的打印头模块组。此系统的一个优点在于容易拆卸和更换打印头模块组中损坏的模块。这样,当整个打印头中只有一个打印片损坏时,不必废弃整个打印头。
所述打印机中的打印头模块能够采用“Memjet”晶片,此种晶片的微型机械与微型机电一体化系统(MEMS)中安装有大量热敏元件。本申请中采用的热敏元件可以和美国专利6044646(US Patent No:6,044,646)中所述的相同,然而采用不同的MEMS打印芯片
采用本发明的墨水供应装置的打印头,其典型方案可采用六个墨水仓,既适用于打印四分色(CMYK),也可以使用远红外墨水与定影墨水打印。
每个打印头模块通过一个传送墨水的分配元件获得墨水。典型的方案是采用十个模块相连排列组成8英寸长的整体打印头组件,以打印A4幅面的纸张,而不用在纸宽方向移动打印头。
打印头本身是模块化的,所以总宽为8英寸的打印头组可被设置形成任意长度的打印头。
此外,第二个打印头组件可以安装在进纸通道的另一侧,以实现快速双面打印。
如果所述装置的墨水供应软管纵向伸长不会超出该装置的纸宽幅度范围,那么可采用空间利用效率较高的方式将加长的纸宽打印头组件放置在打印机外壳中。
发明内容
本发明的目的之一是提供一种打印机的墨水供应装置。
本发明的目的之二是提供一种从软管接受墨水的打印头组件,所述软管的伸长不超出该组件的纸宽幅度范围。
本发明的目的之三是提供一种墨水供应装置,适用于所述纸宽的打印头组件。
本发明的目的之四是为打印头组件提供一种墨水供应装置,所述打印头组件上安装有大量的打印片,每个打印片包含大量的微型机械与微型机电一体化系统(MEMS)打印元件。
本发明的目的还包括提供一种向打印机的打印头组件中的打印模块供应墨水的方法。
本发明提供一种打印头组件,该组件包括:
一个加长的纸宽墨水分配架,该分配架的延伸方向与纸宽方向相同,并向多个分布在大体上横跨纸宽方向上的喷墨口传送墨水,该分配架包括一个与墨水软管连接的输入端口,所述分配架通过所述墨水软管接收墨水,其中所述墨水软管从输入端口伸出的方向大体上垂直于所述的纸宽方向。
优选地,所述输入端口大体上位于所述墨水分配架两端之间的中间位置处。
优选地,所述的打印头组件包含一个由多个打印模块组合而成的打印模块组,其总宽度等于纸宽,所述的每个打印模块之上都有多个前文所述的喷墨口。
优选地,打印头组件中根据需要打印的颜色的数量,设置相同数量的所述输入端口,如此,该打印头组件可以设置打印彩色图像。
优选地,根据输入端口的数量设置相同数量的墨水软管,并且所有墨水软管从输入端口伸出的方向大体上垂直于所述的纸宽方向。优选地,安装在打印机中的打印头组件包括一个步进电机,该步进电机用来驱动打印机中的辅助设备,该步进电机的安装位置在墨水分配架的纵向方向不超出该墨水分配架的界限。

具体实施方式
在图1至图3中示意性地图示了打印机械组件的核心部件,所示为本发明中层式墨水分配结构的总体布局。所述打印机械组件包括一个由压制钢、铝、塑料或其它刚性材料制成的底盘10。底盘10安装在一打印机的主体内,并且底盘10用于将一个打印头组件11、一个进纸机构和其它的相关部件安装在打印机的外部塑料外壳内。
概括地说,底盘10支撑打印头组件11,这样,墨水从此处喷射到纸张上或其它的打印介质上,所述纸张或其它的打印介质由进纸机构传送,其从所述打印头的下方通过出口槽19传送。所述进纸机构包括进纸驱动轮12、进纸从动轮13、由14指代的滚筒、退纸轮15和针轮组件16,所有这些部件都由步进电机17驱动。这些进纸部件都安装在一对轴承模件18之间,而所述轴承模件安装在底盘10的两端处。
打印头组件11通过一对打印头隔板20安装在底盘10上,所述打印头隔板20安装在底盘10上。所述隔板模件20把打印头组件的长度增加到220mm,使得宽度为210mm的纸张两边都留有间隙。
在图4至图8中所示为打印头的结构。
打印头组件11包括一个印刷电路板(PCB)21,该印刷电路上装有各种电子器件,包括一个64MB的动态随机存储器(DRAM)22,一个光电芯片(PEC)23,一个QA芯片连接器24,一个微控制器25,以及一个双电机驱动芯片26。所述打印头的长度一般为203mm,带有10个打印片27(图13),通常每个长度为21mm。这些打印片27的安装方向都略微偏离打印头的纵轴(图12),每个打印片之间都略有重合,使得墨水在整个阵列的长度范围内可以连续的传送。每个打印片27的一端都与自动存储组片(TAB)28电性相连,自动存储组片(TAB)28的另一端通过一个TAB支持片29保持电性连接到印刷电路板21的下表面。本申请人优选的打印芯片结构如美国专利6,044,646(US Patent No 6,044,646)中所述。每个这样的打印片27的长度大约是21mm,不到1mm宽,厚度为0.3mm左右,在其下表面有数千个MEMS喷墨口30,如图9A与图9B中所示意的,这些喷墨口大体上排列成六行——每行适用于一种墨水。每行喷墨口都按照一定的交错图样,使得打印出的点间的距离更小。六行相应的墨水通道31从打印片的尾部延伸到每个喷墨口的尾部,向喷墨口传送墨水。为了保护打印片表面的精细喷墨口,每个打印片都带有一个喷墨口保护器43,如图9A所示,微孔44对准喷墨口30,使得从喷墨口喷出的墨滴能够快速穿过微孔喷到滚筒14上的纸张上。
墨水经由分配器35与多层墨水分配组36传送到打印片,分配器35与多层墨水分配组36是打印头11的一部分。来自墨盒93(图26与图27)的墨水通过单个墨水软管94传送到单个墨水输入端口34,墨水输入端口34与塑料的导管盖39是模具成型的整体零件,而导管盖39成为分配器35的盖子。如图4与图6所示,墨水输入端口34的位置使得墨水软管94从墨水分配器35侧向伸出。在优选的实施例中,墨水输入端口34的位置位于墨水分配器35长度方向中间的位置。墨水输入端口34位于此位置,安装打印头的空间的长度不需要比打印头的总长度长很多。在前述的打印头中,墨水从打印头的一端进入打印头。这样的设置在长度方向的空间利用效率不高,原因在于需要在打印头的一端与打印头箱内壁之间安放软管。在本发明所述的实施例中,在打印头的一端有一个步进电机17,此种设置在本发明中不是必须的,代替步进电机在打印头一端的方案是,步进电机布置在打印头的旁侧,位于打印头的上方或下方,步进电机输出的动力通过空间利用效率较高的传动方式传递给进纸驱动轮12、进纸从动轮13、滚筒14,退纸轮15和针轮组件16,上述的传动可以由齿轮或皮带传动方式实现。进一步提高打印头安装仓长度方向的利用效率,可以通过使墨水输入端口34的伸出方向垂直于墨水分配器而实现,这样,墨水传送软管在长度方向不会超出分配器的范围。
参见图7,墨水分配器35包含六个独立的纵向墨水导管40与一个贯穿整个阵列的空气导管41。墨水从输入端口34经由交叉的墨水导槽42流到相应的墨水导管40。应该提出的是,尽管实施例中采用的是六个导管,导管的数量也可以采用其它数量。采用六个导管的打印机即可打印四分色(CMYK),也可以使用远红外墨水和定影液打印。
空气通过空气输入端口61传送到空气导管41,向每个打印片27提供空气,参看图6至图8、图20与图21,具体内容在后叙述。
分配器35下部有纵向延伸凹槽45,位于凹槽中的是由数个层压薄片组成的多层墨水分配组36。分配组的每层通常都是以塑料为原料,用模具加工制成。自动存储组片(TAB)28从打印头PCB 21底面延伸而出,绕过分配器35的后部,连接到对应的自动存储组片槽46中(图21),沿着多层墨水分配组36中的芯片仓层47分布有多个所述的自动存储组片槽46。自动存储组片(TAB)28把来自印刷电路板PCB 21的信号传递给由多层结构支撑的各个打印片27。
所述分配器、多层墨水分配组36与相关部件在图7至19中描述得十分清楚。
图10描述了一个整体注塑零件的分配器盖39,分配器盖39上有许多的定位栓48,定位栓48的功能在于安装上部打印头盖49。
如图7所示,每个墨水传输端口50连接一个墨水导管39(左起,第4个导管),其下部与分配元件中六个下方墨水导管或过度导管51中的一个相连。所有的墨水导管40都有相应的墨水传输端口50,墨水传输端口50又与各自的过度导管51相连。过度导管51彼此平行,但却事实上与墨水导管40成一定的角度,以便与多层墨水分配组36第一层52上的每排墨水孔对准,具体见下文描述。
第一层52为10个打印片27中的每一个设有24个独立的墨水孔53。就是说,如果有10个打印片,第一层52就共包含有240个墨水孔53。第一层52还包括一组沿其一长边分布的空气孔54。
每组24个墨水孔53呈矩形排列,相互对齐。4个孔组成一排,每排对准一个过度导管51,并平行于相应的打印片。
第一层52的下表面包括下部凹槽55。每个凹槽55与每排四个孔中最中间的两个孔中的一个相连(从层52断面的方向看)。也就是,墨水孔53a(图13)传运墨水到图14中所示的右部凹槽55a;反之,墨水孔53b(图13)传运墨水到图14中所示的左侧下方的凹槽55b。
第二层56包括一对狭槽57,每一个狭槽都从第一层的下部凹槽55中的一个获取墨水。
第二层56也包括墨水孔53,其与第一层52中的外部两组孔53对齐。也就是,墨水穿过第一层52对应每个打印头的外侧的16个孔53,再直接穿过第二层56相应的孔53。
第二层56的底部有大量的横向延伸的狭槽58,使得墨水可以通过孔53c和53d向中间流动。这些狭槽与第三层60的一对狭槽59对齐。应该指出的是,第三层60对应每个打印片设有4条狭槽59,中间的两条狭槽位于外部两条狭槽之间,并且与第二层56的两条狭槽对齐。
第三层60还包括一组空气孔54,与第一层52、第二层56相应的空气孔阵列54对齐。
第三层60对应每个打印片只留有8个墨水孔53。这些最外部的墨水孔53与第一层和第二层相对应的墨水孔53对齐。如图9A和图9B所示,第三层60在内表面上带有与每个墨水孔53相对应的狭槽61。狭槽61把从对应墨水孔53流来的墨水导流至狭槽59处。
如图9A和图9B所示,多层墨水分配组36顶部的三层的作用是导流墨水(如图9B中的虚阴影线所示),把墨水从分配器上较粗的墨水导管40,经过每个打印片27的上表面,导流到与墨水通道31相连的狭槽。
如图13,从多层墨水分配组的上方看的视图,所示,狭槽57和59实际上被包含在一个离散的线形狭槽组中。
多层墨水分配组36的第四层62包括一个由十个片-狭槽65组成的阵列,每个片-狭槽65都和一个打印片27的上部相连。
多层墨水分配组36的第五层也即最后一层也包括一个由十个片-狭槽65组成的阵列,每个片-狭槽65都与打印片和喷墨口保护器组件43相连。
自动存储组片(TAB)28被夹在第四层62和第五层64之间,第四层或第五层中的一个或两个共同提供凹槽,以容纳自动存储组片(TAB)28的厚度。
多层墨水分配组36是使用乙缩醛类的原料采用精密微成型模具注射成型的。其中容纳着打印片27阵列,打印片27带有自动存储组片(TAB)28,并且如前所述,自动存储组片(TAB)28已经与导管盖39组合并相连。

微成型的设计使得打印片在排成一排时可以重叠。因为打印头晶片形成了一条有较大容许偏差的连续的带,所以可以通过对其进行数字化调整,以实现近于完美的打印模式,而不是依靠精度要求十分高的模具与特殊的材料来实现相同的功能。模块的节距通常是20.33mm。
多层墨水分配组36的各层、导管盖39与分配器结合密封的方式可以采用胶接或其他的方法结合在一起以提供一密封单元。墨水通路可以采用透明的塑料薄膜密封,这样可以显示墨水通路中存有墨水的多少,所以贴膜上部折叠时,可以将其全部揭去。充墨完成。
多层墨水分配组36的第四层52、56、60、62对准与空气通道63相连的空气孔54,空气通道63是由第四层62的下底面形成的沟槽,参见图9b与图13。这些通道,在打印机工作时,向打印片与喷墨口保护器43之间的空间通入压力空气。从压力区过来的空气穿过喷墨口保护器中的微孔44,以防止灰尘与污物沾在孔隙中。压力空气的输入可以关闭,以在打印机不工作时,防止喷墨口表面的墨水干燥,控制空气输入采用的空气阀组件参见图6至图8、图20、图21。
参见图6至图8,在打印头的空气导管41中,有一个空气阀元件66,其底部带有一系列的微孔67形成了一个通道。这些微孔的孔距对应于空气导管41底部的空气通道68(参见图6),空气阀元件在空气导管中可以纵向移动,使得微孔67可以与通道68对齐,以经由多层墨水分配组36向打印片与喷墨口保护器之间的空隙吹入空气,或者移离对齐的位置关闭空气供应。压缩弹簧69使得空气阀元件66的底部与空气导管41的底部密封,以防止在阀关闭时,空气泄漏。
空气阀元件66的一端有一个凸轮从动件70,该凸轮从动件与滚筒14一端的端盖74上的空气阀凸轮表面71相配合,其作用在于根据多位置滚筒14的旋转位置,在空气导管41内纵向移动空气阀元件,多位置滚筒14,根据打印机的工作状态,可以在打印、停止、吸墨三个位置之间旋转,下文将参照图21至图24更详细地加以说明。当滚筒14处在打印的周向位置时,凸轮使空气阀保持在开的位置向打印片的表面吹入空气,而在滚筒14旋向不打印的位置,关闭喷墨口保护器上的微孔时,凸轮把空气阀元件移到阀门关闭的位置。
参照图21至图24,滚筒14与打印头平行,由安装在轴承件18上的旋转轴73支撑,旋转轴的转动采用齿轮79传动(参见图3)。该轴的两端各有一个右端盖74和一个左端盖75,以及凸轮76、77。
滚筒14有一个滚筒面78、一个盖压面80与一个外露的吸墨面81,都沿其长度方向分布,其间隔为120度的角度。在打印时,滚筒转动使滚筒面78位于背对打印头的位置,这样,滚筒面充当打印纸正在被打印部分的支撑。当打印机处于不工作状态时,滚筒转动使盖压面80接触打印头的底部,密封微孔44所在的环境。这一措施,与关闭空气阀的措施一起,当滚筒14处在压盖位置时,保持打印机喷墨口表面处在一个封闭的空气环境中。这样在打印机不工作时,减少了墨水溶剂(通常是水)的蒸发,也就减少了喷墨口表面墨水的凝结。
滚筒14的第三个功能是作为吸墨器吸取打印机启动或维护时从喷墨口大量流来的墨水。在打印机的这种模式下,滚筒14转动,使得外露的吸墨面81在喷墨路径上与喷墨口保护器43相对。外露的吸墨面81是滚筒14内部的一个吸墨材料体82的外露面,这样外露的吸墨面81吸收的墨水被吸入滚筒体的内部。
滚筒结构的更详细的细节可以参看图23与图24。滚筒通常包括由挤压或注塑工艺成型的滚筒体83,该滚筒体构成滚筒的外表面78,并可装入由吸墨材料82成型的部件,在滚筒体上开有纵向的狭槽,形成外露的吸墨面81。滚筒体83上平坦的部分84作为安装盖压件80的基面,盖压件80包括一个压盖室85、一个压盖密封件86和一个与喷墨口保护器43接触的泡沫件87。
参看图1,每个轴承件18安装在一对竖直的支撑杆101上。就是说,端盖组件安装在四根支撑杆101上,使该组件可以垂直移动。在端盖组件的两端各有一个弹簧102使组件偏离至凸起的位置,使凸轮76、77与隔板的凸出部分100保持接触。
当打印头11不工作时,同宽度的盖压件80使用人造橡胶(或类似材料)密封条把打印头盖住。为了旋转滚筒组件14,主辊子的驱动电机倒车。这使得回动齿轮与滚筒组件一端的齿轮79啮合,并转动滚筒组件使之转到三个具有不同功能的位置,每个位置相差120度。
滚筒端盖74、75上的凸轮76、77与相应打印头隔板20上的凸出部分100相配合,以根据滚筒的旋转位置控制滚筒与打印头之间的间距。通过这种方式中,滚筒在变换旋转方向的位置时被从打印头移开,以为位置变换提供充分的空间,当滚筒旋转位置变换完成后,把滚筒移回,使之与打印头保持适当的距离,以实现其相应的为支撑纸张、盖压与吸墨的功能。
此外,所述的旋转滚筒的凸轮装置还可以实现精确调整滚筒表面的打印头喷墨口之间的间距,只要轻微转动滚筒14即可。这可以调节因为使用厚度不同的打印介质而产生的滚筒与打印头之间间距的变化,间距的变化可以通过图25中所示的光学纸张厚度感应装置检测纸张厚度后得出。
光学纸张厚度传感器包括一个光学传感头88和一个传感标记装置,所述光学传感头88安装在印刷电路板(PCB)21的下表面上,所述传感标记装置安装在从分配器上伸出的臂89上。传感标记装置包括一个安装在轴91上的传感标记90,有一个扭转弹簧92使轴91偏转。当纸张进入进纸棍子时,传感标记90的最低部分接触到纸张,并且向与弹簧92扭转方向相反的方向旋转一定的角度,旋转的角度取决于纸张的厚度。光学传感器检测传感标记的运动,而印刷电路板(PCB)根据检测到的纸张厚度,使滚筒14转动一定的角度,以优化纸张表面与喷墨口之间的距离。
图26和图27显示打印头组件连接可更换墨盒93的附加装置。六种不同的墨水通过软管94供应给打印头,软管94从位于打印机内部的一组雌墨水阀95引出。可更换墨盒93内含六个隔开的墨水胆与其对应的一组雄墨水阀,墨盒插接在打印机上时,所述的一组雄墨水阀与所述的一组雌墨水阀95配对连接。所述墨盒还包括一个空气入口96和一个空气过滤器(图中没有显示),与位于墨水阀旁边的空气入口接头97连接,并连通气泵98,形成空气输入通道,向打印机提供过滤后的空气。在墨盒中还包括一个QA芯片。所述QA芯片与位于墨水阀95和打印机内部的空气入口接头96之间的一个连接端子99相连,当墨盒插接在连接端子上时,为QA芯片与印刷电路板(PCB)上的QA芯片连接器24之间提供通讯联系。

Claims (3)

1.一种打印头组件,包括:
一个用于在一进给方向上进给打印介质的进给装置;
一个加长的纸宽墨水分配组件,所述墨水分配组件跨越一个页宽,该墨水分配组件包括至少一个输入端口,其中所述输入端口具有朝着与所述进给方向平行的方向的开口,
以及一个打印头,其安装在所述墨水分配组件上以接收来自所述墨水分配组件的墨水。
2.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组件,其特征在于,所述墨水分配组件包含多个输入端口,所述输入端口位于墨水分配组件两端之间的中部处。
3.根据权利要求1所述的打印头组件,其特征在于,各输入端口构造成使得墨水传送软管能够连接至各个相应的输入端口,从而以平行于所述进给方向的方向从所述端口伸出。
