五十多年来，政府曾经使用主动或被动检测系统跟踪车辆或部队的移动。智能通信已经使用包含高分辨率摄像机、红外线和无线电测向设备的价值数百万美元的卫星载运传感器，以覆盖地监视感兴趣的区域。直到近年规模化的经济和生产上的突破才允许将这种技术的派生物用于商业应用中。

微处理器22可以是诸如目前可购得的Vadem VG330、高级的微型装置AMD Elan SC400、NEC HHT-ASSP或ZF微小系统SMX/386之类的芯片组合件(MCP)。微处理器包括电源管理单元，允许将微处理器置于待用状态或由适当的信号进入工作状态。电源管理能够保护电源42。微处理器典型地配置有存储器44，它可以是随机存储器、只读存储器、大容量存储装置或这些类型的存储器的任意组合。该存储器可以与便携式监视单元12的其它元件一起共享。第一收发机26可以是具有适当接口24的单板数字无线电模块，诸如由数字无线电公司销售的WIT915或WIT2500M。第一收发机26具有其自己的电源管理单元，它允许将收发机置于待用状态或用适当的信号进入工作状态。
设置位置确定装置38，从而可以确定便携式监视单元12的位置。位置确定装置38最好是具有与第一收发机26共用的天线的全球定位系统(GPS)接收器。GPS接收器可以是能从洛氏半导体系统购得的MicroTracker LP全球定位系统接收器模块。也可以使用诸如建立在蜂窝单元位置三角测量(celluar cell-site position triangulation)、LORAN等基础上的其它类型的位置确定装置38。
诸如电池之类的电源42将功率提供给便携式监视单元12需要功率的元件，可以是外部传感器28b和外部接口30中的任一一个。在图1中，提供了功率的元件和电源32之间的功率连接由“PS”表示，以避免画出相互连接而对导致数据通信路径的模糊。
中心监视装置14包括至少一个无线电通信链路16的第二收发机50，以在便携式监视单元12的第一收发机26与中心监视装置14之间建立通信。典型地，中心监视装置14还包括终端52，该终端52具有连接到第二收发机50的通信装置接口58，以及连接到可以与操纵者56观看的显示器54的连接点。终端52可以单单是手动系统，或较好地，它可以是如描述的那样更为复杂。在这个更为复杂的终端52中，有一个计算机60，该计算机60与显示器54通信，并以下面讨论的方式与便携式监视单元12通信，以及监视其工作。还可以为中心监视装置14设置位置确定装置62，尤其是如果中心监视是便携式或是便携的并且必需确定它的位置的情况。位置确定装置62具有与第二收发机50共享的天线64。典型地，选择兼容的位置确定装置38和62。如果例如位置确定装置38是自主GPS接收器，则通常位置确定装置62也是GPS接收器。另一方面，位置确定技术可以利用三角测量、飞行时间或需要位置确定装置38和62之间的协调的其它类型的测量方式，这些方式然后由中意的技术进行选择。
图2描述了现有的通信链路中的设备10的安装，以及它与其它类似的单元的结合。在这种情况下，将设备10结合到具有多个小区位置70的蜂窝电话通信系统，这里描述为两个小区位置70。每一个小区位置70都通过典型地是地线与中央电话局72(例如，MTSO或移动电话交换局)通信。每一个小区位置70都可以与一个或更多便携式监视单元12无线电通信，这里描述为两个便携式监视单元。每一个小区位置70都可以一个或更多中心监视装置14无线电通信。所描述的这样的中心监视装置有两种类型，与小区位置70无线电通信的中心监视装置14a，以及通过中央电话局72与小区位置70陆上通信的中心监视装置14b。中心监视装置14a典型地可以是移动单元，而中心监视装置14b典型地可以是静止单元。这样的结构允许将中心监视装置14用于各种应用中，并监视相同或者不同种类和应用中的许多不同的便携式单元12。
当如图2所示有两个或更多的便携式监视单元12，其工作由单个中心监视装置14监视时，中心监视装置分配唯一鉴别器给每一个便携式监视装置12，以允许明确地与每一个单元12通信。
图3描述了本发明的实践。设置可运作设备，编号为80。首选的设备是上述的设备10。用一组一般操作和启动参数的指令为微处理器编程，编号为82。编程可以由中心监视装置14提供，或者由通过端口37或外部接口30连接的分离的源提供。下面将讨论编程的特性。微处理器首先进入工作以查找任何一个工作状态的启动参数的发生，并且如果没有发生启动参数，则变为待用状态，编号为84。如果有任何一种启动参数，或正好发生了任何一种启动条件的任何启动参数，则微处理器变为(或保持)工作，编号86。微处理器获得对象的状态及其位置，编号88，并通过通信链路16将该信息报告给控制监视装置14，编号90。中心监视装置分析和报告信息，并适当地采取行动，编号92。
此后，当可以保证条件时，可以给微处理器重新编程，编号94。重新编程可以从上述源发生，该源即在便携式监视装置的位置处，或通过无线电通信链路16从远离中心监视装置的位置发生。
图4描述了关于便携式监视单元12的较佳实施例的处理流程，该流程用于在传感器接口单元20接上电源时初始化，然后格式化并发送从一个或更多的传感器28接收到的数据。当接上电源时，微处理器22装入来自非易失性存储器的便携式接收单元应用程序，装入来自存储器的单元启动参数，并进入工作状态。一旦微处理器可工作，它读出存储器，然后监视用于启动的传感器28、端口37、通信装置接口24，以及手工输入端32。如果在工作参数指定的时间内，在传感器28、端口37或手工输入端32上没有运作，则微处理器将通信装置接口24置于待用状态。来自源28、端口37、通信装置接口24或手工输入端32中的任何一个的信号引起微处理器返回到启动状态。如果信号来自手工输入端32，则接着是图5描述的过程；如果信号来自通信装置接口24，则接着是图6描述的过程。如果信号来自端口37，并且要求的服务进入管理状态，则接着是图7描述的过程。如果信号源是接到传感器的传感器28或端口27，并且要求的工作是将数据传送到控制监视装置14，则第一收发机26接上电源。当第一收发机26接上电源时，通过通信链路16与中心监视装置14建立连接。微处理器22将从传感器28接收到的数据格式化，并将它传送给中心监视装置14。当接收到该数据时，中心监视装置14处理接收到的数据，并将它存储在与发送的便携式监视单元12相关联的数据库中。通知操作者56接收到数据，并提供显示数据的机会，以及本地存储的属于发送便携式接收装置12的参考信息，用于复查和采取适当的行动。
图5描述了当对象想要开始从便携式监视单元12的手工输入装置32传送到中心监视装置14时的工艺流程。根据手工输入装置的类型，通信可以是直接的(例如应急按钮信号)或包括显示器34的使用。在后面的情况下，微处理器22启动显示器34，并对对象显示菜单。对象从菜单选择选项。微处理器决定所要求的服务及所需发送的信息，并接通第一收发机26的电源。微处理器从所要求的消息类型和与当前配置与工作参数相关的规则确定采取什么行动。如果需要数据转换，则微处理器根据传感器接口单元20和工作参数，为每一个可适用的接口确定所需的工作。按照需要，微处理器开动所连接的装置，并将服务要求发送给它。微处理器读出与每一个可适用的接口关联的数据缓冲器，并在接收到所需数据时，准备格式化的消息，并将该消息放置在第一收发机26的队列中。如果要求是紧急呼叫或通信检测，则与中心监视装置建立即时连接，并将优先格式化好的消息放置到传输队列中。当第一收发机可以工作时，通过通信链路16与中心监视装置14建立连接。当与中心监视装置14建立连接时，通信装置接口24读出传输队列，并将所有可用的消息都传输到中心监视装置14。当接收到这些消息时，中心监视装置处理所接收到的消息，并将数据存储在与传送的便携式监视单元12相关联的数据库中。操作者56被告知数据的接收，并有机会显示数据，以与本地地存储的属于发送的便携式监视单元12的相关的信息，以便复查和作出适当的行动。
图6描述了当操作者56或终端52希望查询具体的一个便携式监视单元12，以监视一个或更多传感器28，以通过便携式监视单元12将消息传送给，或改变微处理器的配置或应用软件时的处理。操作者或终端通过通信链路16发出呼叫。由第一收发机26中的低电流接收器检测连接请求，它启动了整个第一收发机26，并将启动信号传送给微处理器22。一旦启动，则微处理器承认呼叫。然后中心监视装置14将服务请求信息传送给便携式监视单元12，再传送给微处理器及其存储器44。如果作出由对象响应的状态请求，则显示器34或音频/图像通讯器工作，直到对象通过手工输入端32响应。如果当作出需由对象响应的请求时传感器接口单元未适当地配置，则发生超时，从而完成配置。如果呼叫要求来自一个传感器28的数据，则微处理器向传感器发信号。当从传感器接收到请求的数据时，准备和传送包含数据的格式化的消息。如果需要重新配置(即，重新编程)，则微处理器停止所有其它的输入，将已经在进行的更新的消息显示在显示器34上，接收发送的更新信息，执行要求的工作，返回工作的状态，将更新成功/失败消息放置到传输队列中，并在显示器34上显示结果。将更新的状态传输到中心监视装置14。操作者56被告知数据的接收，并有机会显示数据，以与本地地存储的属于发送的便携式监视单元的参考信息，用于复查和作适当的行动。
在某些情况下，需要从外部源(诸如通过端口37连接到便携式监视单元12的个人计算机)。如果端口37接到外部传感器，并且信息是数据，则以和图4描述的相同的方法为传感器28执行读出。如果信息以应用程序更新或新参数的形式重新编程，则以普通的方式给便携式监视单元12接上电源。原来的应用程序装入微处理器22，检索并设置工作参数，并且传感器接口单元20接入工作状态。但是，如果重编程序要通过端口37装入，则通过其它接口的输入都是不接受的。外部源通过端口37装入重编程序。重编程序可以是整个新的应用程序或已有程序的新的参数。通过操作者要求在装到一个其它接口的装置上执行管理功能，则微处理器首先要证实装置是可工作的。如果装置是不可工作的，则微处理器警告操作，并等待进一步的命令。如果装置是工作的，则微处理器指示它已准备好支持管理功能，并开始安排装置的输入和输出，直到操作者或装置发信号令它停止。如果接收到重新设置的命令，则微处理器关闭所有打开的文件，并返回工作状态。如果它无法返回到工作状态，则显示错误消息。
图4-7中所示的过程提供了一个构块，通过这样的构块可以完成各种查询、状态检测和重新编程。例如，中心监视装置可以周期性地监视传感器28，以确定对象的状态。可以通过周期性的手工输入要求对象“报告”，以证实良好的精神状态。如果对象不能报告，则控制监视装置可以启动一个呼叫，激励音频-图像装置36和/或显示器34，直到对象响应，然后要求对象通过手工输入端32执行一组输入响应，以证实良好的精神状态。如果传感器信息或对象的手工输入端不好，则控制监视器14可以将这个事实以及问题的明显性质报告给有关的人或传唤帮助对象的位置对于有关人或来自位置确定装置38的应急应答机是可用的，其数据作为消息信息一部分，与中心监视装置自动通信。显然，这些过程的许多不同类型可用于重新编程到便携式监视单元12。
虽然为了描述的说明的目的已经描述了本发明的具体的实施例，但在不背离本发明的主旨和范围的条件下可以有各种修改和增进。相应地，本发明只由所附的权利要求限制。

Claims (16)

1.一种远程监视对象状态的方法，其特征在于包含步骤：为对象提供便携式监视单元，所述监视单元包含
至少一个与对象相关的条件的自动传感器，
便携式单元位置确定装置，
传感器接口单元，包含
可重编程微处理器，所述微处理器具有工作状态和待用状态，微处理器可响应于任何一组从由至少一个自动传感器的预选的状态和来自外部源的请求信号所构成的一组中选出的启动条件的工作参数的发生，从待用状态变化到工作状态，微处理器与至少一个自动传感器和位置确定装置通信，
与微处理器通信的通信装置接口，
与通信装置接口通信的通信装置的第一收发机，以及
给微处理器、通信装置接口以及通信装置的第一终端提供电力的电源；
用一组启动条件的启动参数给微处理器编程；
微处理器进入待用状态；
微处理器响应于一个启动条件的启动参数的发生，进入工作状态；
微处理器从传感器接口单元得到对象状态，并从位置确定装置得到便携式单元的位置；及
微处理器通过通信装置的第一收发机发送状态消息，其中所述状态消息的内容包括对象的状态和便携式单元的位置。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法，
其特征在于对象是人，以及
为对象提供便携式监视单元的步骤包括步骤：
为对象设置包含可编程微处理器的传感器接口，所述可编程微处理器具有工作状态和待用状态，微处理器可响应于任何一组从由至少一个自动传感器的预选状态、对象的状态信号和来自外部源的请求信号所构成的一组中选出的启动条件的启动参数的发生，从待用状态变化到工作状态，微处理器与至少一个自动传感器和位置确定装置通信。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于设置中心监视装置的步骤包含步骤：
提供便携式中心监视装置。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于包含另外的步骤：
设置中心监视装置，包含通信装置的第二终端；及
在通信装置的第二终端接收状态消息。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于包含设置中心监视装置的另外的步骤，所述中心监视装置包含：
通信装置的第二终端，及
与通信装置的第二终端通信的显示器，及
在通信装置的第二终端接收状态消息，及
在显示器上显示状态消息。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于为对象设置包含便携式单元位置确定装置的便携式接收单元的步骤包含步骤：
为对象设置包含全球定位系统接收器的便携式接收单元。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于为对象设置包含至少一个自动传感器的便携式监视单元的步骤包含步骤：
为对象设置包含从由音频/视觉传感器、生物状态传感器、化学传感器、气象传感器、移动传感器、电磁传感器、地震传感器和设备传感器构成的一组中选出的一个传感器的便携式监视单元。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于为对象设置包含通信装置的第一收发机的便携式监视单元的步骤包含步骤：
为对象设置从由数字蜂窝电话、个人通信系统、移动通信装置的全球系统、无线电区域网络装置、民用无线电频带以及卫星收发机构成的一组中选出的通信收发机。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于微处理器发送消息的步骤包含步骤：
微处理器将与便携式监视单元有关的唯一鉴别器赋予状态消息。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法，其特征在于在微处理器发送状态消息后，包括另外的步骤：
用第二组工作状态的工作参数为微处理器重新编程。
11.一种远程监视和评估对象状态的设备，其特征在于包含：
便携式监视单元，包含
至少一个与对象有关的自动传感器；
便携式单元位置确定装置；及
传感器接口单元，包含
可重新编程的微处理器，所述微处理器具有工作状态和待用状态，微处理器可响应于任何一组从由至少一个自动传感器的预选的状态和来自外部源的请求信号所构成的一组中选出的启动条件的工作参数的发生，从待用状态变化到工作状态，微处理器与至少一个自动传感器和位置确定装置通信，
与微处理器通信的通信装置接口，
与通信装置接口通信的通信装置的第一收发机，以及
给微处理器、通信装置接口以及通信装置的第一终端提供功率的电源。
12.如权利要求11所述的设备，其特征在于传感器接口单元还包含
与微处理器通信的音频/可视指示器。
13.如权利要求11所述的设备，其特征在于还包含
可由对象启动并与微处理器通信的对象状态输入装置。
14.如权利要求11所述的设备，其特征在于还包含
包含通信装置的第二终端的中心监视装置。
15.如权利要求14所述的设备，其特征在于还包含
至少一个另外的具有如权利要求11所述的结构的便携式监视单元。
16.如权利要求14所述的设备，其特征在于还包含
至少一个另外的结构如权利要求11所述的中心监视装置。
